Tony finds out Jimmy is a Rat 🐀 | Part 1 | The Sopranos
Season 1 Episode 11 Nobody Knows Anything
The Sopranos is an American crime drama television series created by David Chase. The series revolves around Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini), a New Jersey-based Italian-American mobster who struggles to balance his family life with his role as the leader of a criminal organization, which he reluctantly explores during therapy sessions with psychiatrist Jennifer Melfi (Lorraine Bracco). The series also features Tony's various family members, Mafia colleagues, and rivals in prominent roles-most notably his wife Carmela (Edie Falco) and his protégé and distant cousin Christopher Moltisanti (Michael Imperioli).

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Puss did the same thing, lol. "Hey, remember when we shot that guy? Yeah how about that, huh? You and me sure killed him."
"Glad you asked! My favorite illegal thing we did was that illegal thing we did on this specific date and time. In fact, here are the first, middle, and last names of everyone involved, what exactly they did, and their dates of birth and Social Security Numbers! Are those police really that dumb?
He may as well have put “I’m an informant wearing a wire” sign on his forehead.
It wasnt him it was puss the one that was a snitch you need to watch the show
Nahhh not for certain
True
"Thats the thing tho, i know him, hes a friend of ours"...why would he out himself like that, an informant wouldnt tell him the bills are marked, the police would keep that secret so the marked bills can be of some use, no?

Gets out of custody and goes right to the bosses home….
Brilliant move.
That part is smart in a way because then the boss doesn't have to worry about who you might have talked to in the space between the visit. Jimmy was just incredibly stupid for asking questions so quickly after being released.
I mean, remember what happened with Pussy?
I’m sure in real life they had some sort of protocol if a valuable guy got pinched and it was either the slammer or being an informant for him. While tony, johnny etc are portrayed as being intelligent in the show they’re still shown as being goons. I’m sure that real life crime leaders are hardly goons in that same way.
"brilliant plan ese"
Posts bail then immediately comes back around wanting to discuss "details"....
nowadays self snitching and social media get convictions
@@TopOfTheLinenTN Yep back then people wasn't addicted to clout wasn't a thing like that. gangsters was really gangsters and being as dumb as these kids are nowadays would get you wacked back then boss would see it as too loud, he liked you might get your teeth kicked in for a warning if not dumped in a dumpster somewhere
He had no choice.
@@rockabye_baby187 To rat? he did lol ratting is a choice, as for him coming back he should have known they would put 2-2 together so coming back is the worst thing he could have done would have been better off going on the lam, hiding out odds are he was an informant at this point and agreed to gather information on the inside for feds
But he was too dumb to realise the details of his release already make it clear he's a rat, clearly didn't think on his feet or at all lool

@JFonzi same time it was a tactic on Tony's part. The questions at the end are his reaction to Jimmy's confirmation:
"Thanks I wasn't gone that long."
Translates "I caved in and I'm an informant now."
"Yeah. Yeah. I know." translates "of course I know. You weren't gone that long. You're a lucky man"
Like the kiss of death 😮
Jimmy should have skipped town the second he got out of that basement.. I don't know how much clearer Tony could have made the accusation

It's a TV progrum, a movie
"Better lay low with that safe house money."
That was straight out of an SNL skit of somebody wearing a wire: "better hide the money you took for the hit you did on Jimmy Bones on September 3."
Forgot about that film. It's worse than a jinx to wish for an updated remake, cool premise and a few particularly good moments ("I got a natural high... Like, a SUPERNATURAL high." You know the scene) but yeah...
Tony was just as obvious....he didn't hide his suspicions at all. If Jimmy had any brain cells he would have skipped town immediately after that exchange with Tony

Desperation. The FBI would force him to carry on until he got something incriminating on Tony. Deep down inside he must have known his time was up.
@@talwaar007 Thing is, he should've still known better than to answer Christopher's invitation to come to that hotel room to party in the middle of the night with some Russian "hewas." This scene was a master class in how *skilled* organized criminals avoid incriminating themselves in surveilled conversations. Like Big Pussy’s FBI agent handler Skip Lipari said on the next season, “The guy [i.e. Tony Soprano] says less than Harpo Marx.”
More of a display of how obvious a dumbass informant can be

I don't remember which real life mobster said you never speak about what you did after it happens regardless of who brings it up for whatever reason.
This scene comes off as we have too many people for show let’s cut one..
Tony pulled a reverse uno on him.
Right 🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷🥷
He should’ve known by Tony’s smile. When have you ever really seen Tony smile and talk casually like that besides when he’s being deceitful or in a coma dream? Him and Walter white both have the same tell. If they seem joyful, they’re lying.
That's why skyer told him she sleep with ted when he was happy and cooking up their dinner he thought he was scott free by forcing his way back into the family home and she could tell by smug smile he felt he was in control of everything again its the only time he's smiling that much lool
This rat was stupid boss literally spelt it out to him said you got out of a charge when you was on bail for another one right in time for dinner your a lucky guy, he literally told him he was a rat after smiling a million times and he still didn't pick any of it up, some people just too dumb to survive that kind of life
That life brings no joy so it's always fake
Lol that smile is hilarious looking

@@Jestin612 Nah dude. Jimmy was a rat. That's the only possible way he would have gotten out. You don't get bail a second time if you catch new charges while you're already out on bond. It just doesn't happen.
@jacobadam6804 it's a TV show. This was good writing ✍️ to ensure pussy makes it to season 2.
The last part of the dialogue ... tony be like :da ya think im stupid .
“Workin on what?” Lmao
Breakdown of the scene: Tony was genuinely happy when he saw Jimmy, even though he was shocked he got out so fast. Jimmy was uneasy with the hug because he was wired..When Carm asked him how he got out, he said long story, never explaining to Tony what happened. When Jimmy tells Tony they have a problem, Tony tells him he's working on it, thinking they're both talking about the Pussy/rat situation. Tony was almost ready to talk about it but when Jimmy said "talk about what", it gave Tony a chance to gather himself and get Jimmy to talk. Once Jimmy started talking about incriminating stuff, the light bulb went off in Tony's head that it was Jimmy who was ratting, and not Pussy. When actually it was both. Tony knew he was gonna have to deal with Jimmy but some of his focus was on being happy that his best friend wasnt the snitch. The last proof Jimmy was indeed a rat was when he accepted his fate when Sylvie had the the gun to his head and called him a rat
Jimmy looks like Tatoo's long lost brother 😂
Real ones get that reference 😊!
How do you do, fellow outlaw?
yeahhhh guilty
He didn’t have time to put something decent on
In reality Tony Soprano woulda never mentioned that "he looks good" and that he's "a lucky man" because any wise guy woulda understood what that means.
He was so obvious 🐀
For those who are still woundering if the guy was innocent or not,you can actually see the wire strapped around his bidy under the clothes in this scene, just have to look closely.... pretty dope detail and no need to thank me
We weren't going to thank you anyway. 🤪
Thank you!
That was the kiss of death. He was screwed before he even said anything🤣
Ain't no way I'm greeting someone so friendly who just got out on a gun charge like nothing happened 😂
People actually question whether Jimmy was the rat.....this scene alone is all the evidence you need.
Tony was really happy to see him at first
Jimmy wired 😂
It's hilarious, he might as well said hey Tony by the way talk closer I'm wearing a wire😂😂
Tony was a sharp dude, just from experiencing so much backstabbing. This was a great show, rest in peace James Gandalfini.
Jimmy: you got a problem.
Tony: yeah i know.
Jimmy: im a rat.
Tony: *im working on it.*
"Thanks I wasn't gone that Long" Jimmy might as well have lifted up his Shirt 🎽 Pranced around the Basement floor like a Ballerina with that Statement, Gave himself away was a Dead man ☠️💀 at that Point.
Whats missed is when Tony hugs him, he kinda positions his body away so that Tony dont feel his wire.
Tony is smart not to ever incriminate himself when someone asks open ended questions like that.
They even said they can lift the finger prints right off the bills. 😮
Why didn’t Tony just check to see if he was wearing a wire
He might’ve done that at the beginning when they hugged at the door. Tony usually does the subtle pat down. Given how fast Jimmy gets out, no doubt he would’ve been suspicious from the jump. Might’ve been on the fence, but his behavior in the basement sealed his deal and it was only downhill from there for our friend who likes big tits and little feet.
Cause he was in his house with his wife upstairs and it would’ve gotten messy had he found a wire on him. He would’ve had to finish him off right there. Rule #36: never kill in your own house. They would’ve heard it all, besides Tony knew right away he was wired once he started talking about business
The verbiage was perfect. Tony knew exactly what this guy was doing and he’s trying to punk him, but he was like OK keep talking.
“Working on what” While grinning and side eyeing the invisible camera in the room
could Jimmy make it anymore obvious 🤔
Why he didnt run for the hills after the "lucky guy" comment, Ill never know.
Because he wasn't actually an informant.
The hug gave him up ..... If it didn't, Tony would have asked they go for a steam shower
Tony's smile is way more chilling then when he just gets mad!
It was jimmy, Jimmy was the rat
..when they tell ya 20yrs u either become a holy roller or rat
“Carm looks who’s here it’s jimmy… he’s out” 😂😂😂the sarcasm in his voice and on his face
Jimmy had alteria motives 🥁🥁🥁
Soon as he said “you’re a lucky guy” that was a warning from Tony telling him that he knew Jim was a rat…..well that’s what I gathered 😅😂
I would love to sit in the chair that keeps spinning just to see what happens. I cant believe there are still people who doubt if jimmy was a rat. they make it so obvious in this scene.
comically obvious at that.
in later seasons, the hints would have been a lot more subtle. and tony wouldnt have confronted him so clearly about it.
