I can’t believe GW haven’t been shouting and hyping this release. It’s exactly what the game’s been calling out for. I can just turn up and play a game again and build lists because I like them not because they’ll give me certain secondaries. Look forward to more Tempest games on the channel.
It's absolutely mind boggling. The only reason I can think of is that they DON'T want it to become the main way of playing for people so they can continue to push the GT packs etc. They are making a LOT less money selling one pack of cards over 2 £25 books a year.
@@FarseerB1rdy they could just release a new secondary Expansion once in a while + faction specifics (not as overpowerd as before I should add). I am more suprised you get 2 Sets of secondaries instead of one...
Has anyone else noticed it makes for better Battle Reports as well? I have only recently started watching them again and this is the sort of games I enjoyed in 7th and 8th Ed when I last watched them. Well done chaps!
I have been an on demand subscriber for years. I unsubbed about 6 months ago because it felt abit stale. If this is the route they are going to go i will definitely come back.
I made an announcement a couple of weeks back, all of our regular battle reports with a few rare exceptions will be Tempest games. We’re leaving the GT missions for League only now :)
@@tabletoptactics fantastic consider me back! Just to reassure. It was the game its self and not the hosts or the quality of your batreps which for me are still the best around!
Yaaaay🤘…this genuinely has me excited to play 40k regularly again. I’ve been purely on Kill Team recently cause it’s just a better ruleset, but this is exactly the kind of bighammer I want to be playing… casual, fun, not optimised, fluffy pick up games without having to track a million things like crusade. Very happy.
As a relatively serious player who likes to smash all 3 of his brain cells together hard I like the look of maelstrom because it still requires a fair bit of thought, meaningful decisions and you absolutely can build good or bad lists for it. But it also could just be a bit of chaos and fun too. However as someone who's trying to play regularly it has one additional bonus, no two missions will be the same, you'll never be doing that diagonal deployment and realising both your and your opponent played it in your last game.
Beard and Chef are definitely TT tactics dream team to watch. These two guys create a narrative with their banter and Tempest of War certainly facilitates this.
Love the editing at 1:13:43, I can't imagine thinking through those probabilities while Beard is fighting an imaginary opponent across the board from you
This makes me very excited. Order completed with hopes of never being told again in 9th 'don't you have the latest mission pack' if you want to play a pick up game 😁
What a great battle! A classic face off for a reason and Beard and Chef are always so much fun to watch, and always thanks to Katie for moderating them.
As much as I look Matched Play and Narrative play, Maelstrom is my favorite format. I got into 40k due to it and I'm glad to see it back and better than ever. It feels great to pull a set of cards out and just due random objectives given to you by high command, it feels extra thematic.
Best batrep I've seen - so clear how much you both enjoy this mode and the secondaries changing really seemed to help keep things interesting through to the end. More of this, please!
Glad to spend the last 20 minutes of my birthday watching you absolute legends and doing some hobby. Keep up the amazing work, love all the content you’re putting out
I love this channel so much, keep up the amazing work guys, you make my day and deliver consistant content to all 40k fans out there. Thank you for always being there lads, now let the maelstrom begin!
I haven’t watched a batrep to the end in forever, since you can almost always tell how it will go turn 3 or 4. This was a nail biter to the last minute. Awesome!
I have to say that Spider is my favorite member of the TT Team but those two have just the greatest chemistry and their games are such a blast to watch.
I like the fact that even Chef is having fun. it's a very good thing to see 40k's version of the grinch having fun. we love you Chef. PS: Beard, do you have El Beardo's phone number? call him because we need to check if he's alive
Love the Ultramarine content! More of the Posterboys pls! :P although it's hurt to see how beard completely forgot about Bolterdiscipline and Scions of Guilliman :P Eg 43:20 . ; )
Seeing how much fun you legends have with the game makes me wish I had a friend to play 40k with... I suppose I need a friend first. Hope you had a good holiday Chef?
Literally preordered when I saw the utter excitement from you all, yes the hype train has its own problems, but this just seems like a way to facilitate unmitigated joy!
The Apothecary’s Magnum (as it shall now forever be named) is probably my favourite space marine relic and I practically take it in every list. It doesn’t always go well, but when an apothecary is popping off big heroes and monsters with his “I’m gonna make you feel better with a 22” diameter bullet wound” pistol, it’s hilarious. Great list Beard! And so great to see maelstrom bringing some life to 9th edition.
Thank you Chef and Beard (and of course Anonymous Servo Skull 3-Alpha aka Jinx). I am excited about this, as I mentioned int eh review vid. 40K is at it's most fun when it is not hyper-balanced determinative competition mode.
Chef: "I'm gonna remember my rerolls finally!" Next interaction with Skorpekhs into Impulsor. Doesn't reroll a wound despite a Beard reminder. Lol. Loved this format, was fun to watch even as a competitive player.
Can confirm Tempest of War rules. Makes casual play so much better and, in a way, faster. Fewer things to remember/lookup about your army, and it's the rare GW product that can support two players in one box. Wins all around.
I brought acquittal once, and I can't say I regret it. My apothecary was charged by a wounded necron lord. I burned a CP on overwatch and my dude actually hit. Infantry model he means wounded on 2 and minus 4 meant no save. Best overwatch of my life
Hi guys, I love your batreps, the fun is here, suberb armies and it allows me to keep my english at a good level. Keep on going this way. I think sometimes 40k lost its innocence, becoming an Excel optimized game with statistics and overpowered units. It's refreshing seeing you playing with the models you love, making sounds and faces, immersing yourselves and us like it's a good old 90's action movie. Bring back memories when I was spending ALL my pocket money in my local GW, playing my 2-colors Marines against other teenagers, with The Rock and Backdraft soundtracks in the background :)
Finally. Can't wait to try out next week after the cards arrive. And fingers crossed for unique mission cards for each faction, and a deck building aspect.
@@DT-ce1fb Not necessarily. If they introduce it all at the same time (maybe in the WD), and introduce a deck building system, then players can balance their army builds with their mission cards. Of course, we are talking about GW here, but it can be done.
This was super fun, also the board today was really gorgeous. Chef laying out ten years worth of GW tempest content in 15 seconds at the end of the game, lol. Normally id say hire this man but id rather he stayed here :)
It's got a lot of potential to kick games into some interesting angles. Last game I witnessed a few months back had the necron player with a horde of warriors making all his return rolls and the tau guy was getting extremely frustrated with him just plopping down on objectives and never being able to push the necron player off. Not that necrons will always do that, but it helps alleviate some of the static positioning you get in games in 9th with tough to expire units.
Great GREat GREAT game Baaabbbbyyy! I recently started playing CA19 maelstrom again, with 9th rules. And this new tempest looks good, my only gripe is the scoring system and secondary wording is still too complex. I prefer older wording and points. Less is more!!!
MAELSTROM TIME BAAABYY!!! Already waiting for my pack, waiting for my first game, and most probably saying 'farewell' to the GT packs for a very loooong time 😁😁😁😁
As a guy who has played about 10 games of 9th over the last 6 months: I f**king hate secondary objectives. They're over complicated, stressful and contrived. I find them more influential in how you NEED to engineer your army list to fulfill abstract quotas rather than having you make interesting choices in the game. That and, even though I'm rock solid on the game I've found them very difficult to keep track of mid-game, always needing my opponent to help me out. The culmination of all of that making them a massive barrier into actually playing the game. This looks like WAY more fun and, honestly, much more interesting to play.
I was not a fan of the original Maelstrom due to the army composition I had available at the time, and being a new player then not understanding didly squat. But THIS (combined with my updated armies and understanding) looks like what I need from 40K right now! Both to watch the gang here play more often, and to play myself!
