    Okay. This technique is called sankyo. Or number three in the series of techniques that O'Sensei established. And again, this whole series, one through five, is going to start with ikkyo. So if we look at shomenuchi, ikkyo, you meet and down. Again, I want to lift the hand so that I'm looking at the palm of my partner's hand. Reach underneath. I'm going to wrap my fingers right around the inside of the palm. And the fingers are another aspect that I have. I'm going to step back. And think about pointing all of this directly at your partner as they turn and cut. Again, this is very similar to the sword work that we do in aikido. Again, I don't want to point the fingers down and cut with the butt of the sword. I want to try to cut out with the tip and the elbow of the sword. And I'm going to continue to move around the front, irimi tenkan and down. The pin incorporated here, sankyo pin. Alright. So again, you start with ikkyo. Ikkyo, lift, take the hand and step back, cut, irimi tenkan, straight down on the shoulder and pin. So if we look at the ura variation. Again, I move to the back side first, lift, continue to move behind and down, spiraling movement towards ugay's back. Up for the pin, pull through. Ura, lift, hand position, tenkan, and back. Up for the pin, pull through. Couple other variations that we'll often see, straight down, straight up. Can also use sankyo to create openings for other techniques. Sankyo, number three.

    My neighbour used to be a police officer and was a practitioner of aikido. One day he told me how an offender turned on him unexpectedly. He said that he reflexively entered into one of his aikido techniques and the offender flew away from him into a wall. He was worried at first that he had injured the guy, but was thankful that he had not. He had never used his class-learned technique before this and was surprised at its effectiveness.

    Actually as many martial artists learn is a beating. Bruce took some in China. He discusses it to a degree in books. Hence fights lasting less than a minute. Bruce was also a huge fan of Fencing and American Boxing and Savate.In Aikido I have learned two things. Don't give the other guy a chance. Its always MY TURN, MY TURN, Oh LOOK, MY TURN again! Sifu Lee was leaning towards Aiki based martial arts towards the end of his life by studying with Hapkido stylists.Street fighting? I know this.

    I think what is often missed in the west with any martial art is that application for real life is not meant to be used directly, it is a tangible example of physics. Like my old taiji teacher, he did not teach app, but allowed u to subdue him randomly at anytime you wished. Taiji is very simple so maybe it's biased, but the app never looked the same, just the principle. What needs to be learned is the sensitivity,, feeling and a manipulated instinct for move, auto memory .. Thoughts?

  • @Brady2k10
    @Brady2k10 12 лет назад +1

    alot of people forget that when you have to use aikido for real, the majority of the time you wont be using it against another martial artist, or an MMA fighter -_- but the average person who attacks you on the street, martial artists are told not to start fights and to only use what they know to defend themselves, thats why its rare to see a real fight on the street were both are martial artists, very rare indeed. Does aikido work on inexperienced fighters? fuck yeah.

  • @Hardy30680
    @Hardy30680 11 лет назад +2

    Your mma fighter wouldn´t do shit in a sankyo lock. Imagine someone grabs your nuts and you feel heavy pain. You can only beg your opponent not to put more pressure on your nuts. Same with sankyo. I know how painful it is.

  • @TateSkywalker
    @TateSkywalker 11 лет назад

    The martial art themselves don't claim to be better than the other its the ego of the person who thinks that one is better than the other. As a martial artist you learn that there is a place for everything.

    I have heard rumors that there is a man who aspires to become the first martial arts action star and singer. He is of Spanish descent. He wants to change entertainment and create opportunities for the Latin people and immigration. He likes Bruce Lee and wants to advance Jeet Kune Do into his own fighting art. Many say he is very fast when he strikes whether it be a kick or a punch. People also say he is a handsome guy with a big heart. He goes by the name of "Kenji Lucian".

    It is, Some mma is for mainly fighting in the ring, You dont teach there what you should do if 3 bastards wants to jump you on the street, Or how to handle someone with a knife or gun, Aikido has the focus on street fight, And some other mma as krav maga also has that. But then its also others who doesnt..

      He has to be Submissive or he will get hurt ,broken Arm,hand,Shoulder,he goes with the flow, so he does not go against the Technique which will hurt... I am in Aikido now and 5 years of Kenpo karate and kickboxed,, Way different Martial Art ,and complicated,..

    Careful when you try these in a street fight as your attacker may resist but unless you're stronger than your attacker this would work easier than it would if your attacker is bigger/stronger than you.

    • @jodyguilbeaux8225
      @jodyguilbeaux8225 2 года назад

      right, as a 1st dan in AIKI JUJITSU. My instructor always repeated that we must soften the uke first before going into the technique. by softening means= stun the opponent with a punch or kick. all counters come with advancement of any martial arts. once counters are learn, they can usually get you out of trouble. in the dojo and on the street are two different things. crazy things happen on the street and a slip up could be fatal,

    however i feel some techniques arent as good on the street as others, but the same can be said for most martial arts really, martial artists arent stupid either, i feel i have to say this to all MMA fighters out there so they will lay off aikido, lets take seagal for example, hes experienced as we all know and im sure he knows what techniques work well and which ones dont work so well but you learn them anyway because 1 you never know and 2 its part of the art, you honor the art.
