    I have a 3 fund portfolio consisting of 33% S&P, 33% Total stock, and 33% international. I feel a need to focus on complete growth so I went 100% stocks, but does the SP500 and TSM overlap too much to make sense holding both? However I’ve been in the red for a month now. I work hard for my money, so investing is making me a nervous sad wreck. I don’t know if I should sell everything, sit and just wait but watching my portfolio dwindle away is such an eye -sore.

      There are many other interesting stocks in many industries that you might follow. You don't have to act on every forecast, so I'll suggest that you work with a financial advisor who can help you choose the best times to purchase and sell the shares or ETFs you want to acquire.

      I agree, that's the more reason I prefer my day to day investment decisions being guided by an advisor seeing that their entire skillset is built around going long and short at the same time both employing risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying off risk as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, coupled with the exclusive information/analysis they have, it's near impossible to not out-perform, been using my advisor for over 2years+ and I've netted over 2.8million.

      it´s exactly what Michael is saying, yes if you use the metric that governments tells you, the inflation is around 2-3 % a year. But if you use common sense a calculate how much the basic things prices have raised, like food, gas or houses, the inflation is crazy. In 1990 people with a 30,000$ salaries were rich and now you´re poor with that amount of money

      There's nothing wrong with the S&P 500 if you just want your money to hold it's purchasing power over time. The point he's making is that your cash is losing value, the S&P 500 is just barely keeping up with inflation and even if you do everything right you're probably still getting poorer in real terms. It's just about understanding what's actually happening to your wealth when you make those types of investments and not being deluded into thinking otherwise.

      Your cash is not losing value in the s&p. You can check comparisons over time and inflation barely makes a dent.
      This guy is giving BAD advice.

      My dude is bugging… if you put $100 into the s&p 500 in 1984 and held till now, you would have $291,613. Milk at that time was about $1.05 a gallon. The s&p 500 returned much more than the inflation rate. That $100 could buy you at the time 95 gallons of milk. Holding till now you could buy at least 70,100 gallons of milk and much more depending where you shop. In 1984 $100 couldn’t get you an average car, it would only pay for 1.3% of a car. If you put it into the s&p 500 today you could buy 6 cars cash. The current argument against currency has been made since the beginning of human civilization up to the start of the USA all the way to present day. Currency has to expand with economic expansion otherwise there eventually is a shortage of currency in circulation which leads to a depression. Why? Because eventually the wealthy or top of the pyramid have all of it. Naturally there are periods where more currency has to be pumped into circulation. America has about 240 trillion of assets and 100 trillion total debt. Minus debt from assets we still have 140 trillion of assets. Don’t let fear lead you to poor decisions.

    • @Coover90210
      @Coover90210 4 дня назад

      @thomaslunden you are getting caught up in manufactured
      semantics, handshake agreements vs contracts vs treaties. The bottom line is that the Saudis will increasingly accept other currencies or commodities in exchange for their oil, reducing global demand for dollars. Add to that the fact that they used to exchange all their dollars for tbills, now you have a reduction in demand for tbills as well. Which will make it harder to finance us debt. The media wants to give you sound bites and hot takes but it is important to think for ourselves about the underlying trends. But if you think I am out to lunch, feel free to invest in tbills. "5% risk free returns"...hot off the printing press.

    All fine, but if real inflation is currency dealuation, then deflation is BTC inflation. Because BTC will diappear slowly every year, due to lost passwords, death of wallet owners and so on. So if number of BTC available shrinks guaranteed every year, and therefor the 'price' of BTC measured in bricks, gold, or land goes UP, then people will not start a business, because they can make 10% pa owning BTC untill the collapse. So BTC can never be money. Money has to grow, slowly, but it has to grow. The only assets keeping money in check with normal population growth and economic growth, are gold and silver.
