LOL!! I love seeing your reaction to Peter. He is my absolute favorite. For the same things you said! I get so excited!! He just moves me, man. And so do you!! I love you :)))) What a beautiful person you are
This video was groundbreaking at the time, won loads of awards as I’m sure you can imagine. It was made by Aardman Animations who also do the Wallace & Gromit films.
I freaking love claymation and this is tops! One of my all time favorites. Stop-motion animators The Brothers Quay also worked on this. I'm inspired now to dive into their work more.
THIS video was WAY ahead of its time. In the 80’s I waited for this video to come on MTV so I could record it on the VCR, to play it over and over again!!!! I felt like every time I watched it I discovered something new. Such a fun song and video.😎 P.S. I also felt this way with Herbie Hancock’s “Rock It” video. 🤖
polyprinz Yes!!! It IS my favorite song of all time and even naming my twin boy (due next week!!!) Gabriel after this incredible artist!! Especially for the my song!!! 💙💙🎶😎
Oh this song is so good! When I visited my relatives in the USA in 1987 I had the great pleasure to join a concert of Peter at the meadowlands arena in NJ. It was an extremely good impression for me that I will never forget.
"Shock the Monkey", "Big Time" and "Steam" are great tunes from him too, especially "Big Time". Since you liked Sledgehammer, you'll like Big Time too. Similar video, and the song has a killer bass line.🤟🎼
A video like this could be made easily today with computers, but it wouldn't be the same. The hours and days it took to set up and create and film all this stop-motion art, it's mind-boggling. I remember watching it in awe when it first aired, and it still amazes me today.
I saw Peter Gabriel in concert once and it's still the best concert experience I've ever had. His visual style and incredible voice made for an unforgettable night.
🎵🎶Show me around your fruit cage - cause I will be your honey bee-open up your fruit cage-where the fruit is just as sweet as can be.” 🎵🎶 Love that part!😉💟☮️
I'm 74 and a shut-in. You're my favorite reactor. The highpoint of my day is listening to you every day.You have a sweet and kind spirit that blesses me. Thank you!.
J Thompson, YES!!! One hell of a song!! I first heard it when Joan Baez covered the song when I was young. Very stirring song about the GREAT anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko.
This video was revolutionary at it's time. We were amazed by it. It's still creative and impressive today! Peter Gabriel has always been an artist ahead of his time! I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
You should see how he would dress up in some elaborate costumes way back when he was the lead singer of Genesis. One thing that hasn't changed is his very distinctive voice and always pushing the visual boundaries.
This animation is done with techniques called "claymation" and "stop-action" filming. It was used to make many cartoons back in the day. We had the same reaction you did to the release of this video. It's so fun and creative! I love the part where he shares the stage with the back-up singers, the producers, make-up artists, camera guys, and apparently some random people off the street. Love your channel!
That video was a big deal back then and it won many awards. Believe me, your reaction is definitely appropriate. You show true enthusiasm which makes your reactions that much more enjoyable.
Yes a "Masterpiece" InDEED.. And Consider... These visuals were done BEFORE C.G. was perfected.. It mostly looks like "Stop-Motion" photography. As someone who started editing film in the 80's, I can assure you, it would be a GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT to say that making THIS video was A "Time & Labor INTENSIVE" EFFORT. TIMELESS modern ART from the 80's CHEERS...!!! : )
Peter G, he’s a true artist in every sense of the word. His music catalog is deep and every record a masterpiece. Also he was the frontman of the band Genesis before Phill Collins took over.
This video won nine MTV Music Video Awards in 1987, including Video of the Year, Best Male Video and Best Visual Effects. I highly recommend Peter Gabriel's song "In Your Eyes" and specifically the "Secret World Live" concert video. It's 10 minutes long but is well worth the time, and his and his band's performance are out of this world.
I was a kid in the 1970s and a teenager in the 1980s. And, I'll tell you, I feel EXTREMELY LUCKY to have grown up when I did. Music was off the chain back then!
Peter Gabriel was definitely the man who saved the eighties, but his real legacy was the singer, frontman for early Genesis 1969-1974, their masterpiece was Supper's Ready from 1972. This still may stand as Gabriel's greatest moment as well..please check out Supper's Ready, it is life- changing...
The end of "Sledgehammer" is brilliant. He takes it to church , and it is like an entirely new song. First time I heard that , it took me entirely by surprise.
This is one of the best music videos ever, and it's all done with stop-motion. Peter Gabriel spent about a week lying very still under a sheet of glass, while people moved stuff around him and shot the whole thing one frame at a time.
Finally a young fella who understands our music from the 80's ( this is from a 70 year old granddad !!) Love it. Man you keep up the good work ( and understanding of music) Marvellous !!!!!
Don't ever let yourself be doubted by people for a good song that you like. That's why we need dudes like you.. we need people who like things that might seen weird.. That's how we evolve as a culture. Thanks dude.
Great reaction. Don't lose that "kid inside"! "In your eyes" from the Secret World Tour (or anything from that live concert), please - we need to bring joy and unity back to humanity.
Peter Gabriel was heavily into producing compelling visuals to go along with the music ever since he was performing live as Genesis' lead singer. Because he felt self-conscious as the front man, he would often use outrageous costumes as visual elements he could essentially hide behind. After he went solo, he essentially took that attention to visuals with him.
Where to start! Great song by great Artist. I love you and your reactions. I connected with you because music touches you deeply and becomes therapy ( a happy place) for you. I get that because it’s that to me. Your Queen journey brought me to you but I stayed because of you and how music touched and inspires you. A current artist, you have to check out is Harry Styles. Please trust me on this. Start with his cover of “Sledgehammer” on Howard Stern. He is a modern artist inspired by the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Amazing artist and voice. You won’t regret it.
This video won many awards due to its sheer artistry and animation in addition to the song itself. Over the years I have yet to see another video to match it in creativity and originality.
You should do Burning Down the House by The Talking Heads. ALSO, I love seeing you get excited about the songs you love, seeing you smiling make us smile too.
His concert in Oslo after releasing "So" was legendary. Performance was excellent and the sound was crystal clear! Digging in the dirt and Steam videos are great too
This is class. Keep talking the way you do.This is music !!!!!! ( I am 70years old and I used to dance to this) Keep it up. From Aussie. I feel young again.
I remember the first time I saw this on MTV back in the day. I was so amazed by it. Back then there had never been anything like it. The song is great and the video just blew it up.
Been to many gigs and saw countless bands. in my time and this guy puts on the most fantastic and best stage sets and performances you will ever see by far!!!👌🥰
The lines: 'I shed my skin, This is the new stuff, I go dancing in' perfectly describes Peter Gabriel's artistic development at the time. With the album 'Us' he went from mostly making complex, symphonic, theatrical prog rock with sometimes indecipherable lyrics, (with the occassional balad thrown in for good meassure), to making straight forward songs with a beat people could dance to. He went back to the artsy stuff again, but this album opened him up for whole new audience, who kept following him.
I remember seeing this on MTV as a kid when it was released. This was mindblowing at the time - there was nothing like it. Along with other music videos like Take On Me and Money For Nothing, it really helped develop and innovate the art of making music videos. Truly legendary.
This was filmed using stop motion animation which is like every single movement is a filmed separately... mind blowing the amount of detail went into one flick of a eye 😍😍
These songs were played on big screens in pubs, and bars in every city on a Friday Saturday in fact everyday .. you had to be there in the 80s to appreciate the era and volume of music talent
First saw him live in 1970; his early work with Genesis is fun to watch (the reverse mohawk haircut, fluorescent make-up and masks) and he continues to be someone with something to say.
I love everything about your reaction. I'm an old Genesis/Peter Gabriel fan and 30+ years later, this video still astounds me.Glad I'm not alone👍 On a personal note, I was inexplicably excited to hear your love for Peter's voice. Wish more people could hear that. His voice is weirdly breathtaking.
I love your reaction to this. I was about 20 when it came out and everyone was just flabbergasted, especially at the dancing chickens. I so loved Gabriel for making it. Aardman really did a fab job.
Another great song with an awesome video that you would like from the '80's is "You Might Think" by The Cars. Also since you are into The Bangles, you should do "Manic Monday". Awesome choice, JB, glad you liked it!
Hi! Thought you might like this, it is a David Bowie live taping of "Under Pressure" , a song he made famous with the wonderful late singer songwriter Freddie Mercury, HOWEVER it is sung with this woman who was his bass guitarist, the FANTASTIC Gail Ann Dorsey, who toured with him for years. He's sung this with a lot of people but she is a genius...she knocks it out of the park vocally, while PLAYING the base line on her guitar. This is incredibly hard!Goto: David Bowie Under Pressure (live) Pop Top Dutch TV....just brilliant.
Can you imagine what Peter had to go through to make this video with all the stop-motion animation shot frame by frame? Just the part where his face is blue and the clouds moved across his face caused him a lot of skin irritation. They kept having to put on and take off make up many times to create the illusion. And he said the 2nd day of working with the fish things really started to smell in the studio.
I love multi ethnic videos and music from back in the day. I remember when this came out and it was great! So much talent back then we all just took it for granted. Now, many are searching for an alternative to the current music or want to experience the music of yesteryear. Great reaction!
That was not over the top, it was a spot on reaction to an incredible song and video. I first saw this in 1985 I think it was and have loved it ever since. Got me into Peter Gabriel who has created some incredible music over the years. Loved your reaction!!

"We need this. We need this song." Preach. Gawd, this is such a great album. And you can't fake Peter Gabriel.
Truth!
Fantastic Album!! SO 😁😘👍
This video was groundbreaking at the time, won loads of awards as I’m sure you can imagine. It was made by Aardman Animations who also do the Wallace & Gromit films.
Wow! I didn't know that. No wonder it's so fantastic.
She’s right. It was way ahead of its time man. This video won 9 MTV Video Music Awards that year.
I freaking love claymation and this is tops! One of my all time favorites. Stop-motion animators The Brothers Quay also worked on this. I'm inspired now to dive into their work more.
no kidding? i love those movies!
THIS video was WAY ahead of its time. In the 80’s I waited for this video to come on MTV so I could record it on the VCR, to play it over and over again!!!! YASSS!!!
Yes! This video was amazing! I couldn't wait for it to be shown again. No, James, you are NOT overreacting. 💜
My brother-in-law did the VCR thing, too.
“In Your Eyes” is a Peter Gabriel classic.... Also “Shock the Monkey” and “Solsbury Hill” are others that I think you’d enjoy
I have to add Game Without Frontiers to that list as well.
Ohh yes! One of my favorite songs ever!!!
Hey JB, I love your enthusiasm. I'm 70 yo and I still get excited when I hear and see all the great music you're puttin; up. Thanks!
Lots of great Peter Gabriel music. Solsbury Hill is one of my favs.
David Dunk I agree, an amazing song.
Yeah, this is a fun song, but songs like Solsbury Hill, In Your Eyes and Red Rain hit me right in the feelers.
2nd Solsbury Hill. Also Biko
Can't forget "Family Snapshot"
Never lose your inner child..it's what keeps you young.
React to "In your eyes" by Peter Gabriel. It is one of the greatest songs of all-time. This man is a legend.
polyprinz Yes!!! It IS my favorite song of all time and even naming my twin boy (due next week!!!) Gabriel after this incredible artist!! Especially for the my song!!! 💙💙🎶😎
Awwww that is so nice! Congrats on the angel and I hope all goes well in delivery .
And Gabriel is one of my favorite boy names 🤗
TK Morrison So sorry for the late response, wishing you and baby nothing but the best!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh this song is so good! When I visited my relatives in the USA in 1987 I had the great pleasure to join a concert of Peter at the meadowlands arena in NJ. It was an extremely good impression for me that I will never forget.

NEVER lose your inner child, nor be afraid to show it to the world... You are adorable!!!! 💜💜💜💜💜
Big Time by Peter Gabriel is another jammin tune of his.
I saw Peter Gabriel in concert once and it's still the best concert experience I've ever had. His visual style and incredible voice made for an unforgettable night.

The 1st lead singer of genisis
But not the best
@@christophermonk22 definitely the most outrageous and built the followers up before Phil
Both were awesome and brought great things to the music. Speaking of genesis, how about the Land Confusion video???
The talent that game out of Genesis is crazy, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, and Mike Rutherford = Mike and the Mechanics.
He won 9 awards for this video at the MTV music awards. I love how you realized how special this is. It is most definitely a work of art.
Your not being over the top...this is just the power of the 80's! 👍
oh, and if you can find it, "BIKO", it is such an important story
J Thompson, YES!!! One hell of a song!! I first heard it when Joan Baez covered the song when I was young. Very stirring song about the GREAT anti-apartheid activist Steve Biko.
This video was revolutionary at it's time. We were amazed by it. It's still creative and impressive today!
Peter Gabriel has always been an artist ahead of his time!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Have seen Peter in concert at least six times and he is worth every penny!
You should see how he would dress up in some elaborate costumes way back when he was the lead singer of Genesis. One thing that hasn't changed is his very distinctive voice and always pushing the visual boundaries.
Peter Gabriel is not only a brilliant song writer but also a performance artist. All his videos are imaginative and thoughtful
What you shouldn't forget: Peter made the first big video effects here. That cost him a huge amount of money. And you're absolutely right - it's art.
Masterpiece is the right word. Even the bassline is a masterpiece.
This is a bad ass song great song. And what makes it better your reaction.
"You can never satisfy people even when you're being real" >>>> 100%!!!!!!!!
In Your Eyes, a masterpiece.
Best song ever! 💕🎶😎
That video was a big deal back then and it won many awards. Believe me, your reaction is definitely appropriate. You show true enthusiasm which makes your reactions that much more enjoyable.

I believe they took over 750,000 still shots to create that stop motion effect.
Peter G, he’s a true artist in every sense of the word. His music catalog is deep and every record a masterpiece. Also he was the frontman of the band Genesis before Phill Collins took over.

Solsbury Hill, live DNA version by Peter. Simply brilliant and uses about 40 years worth of concert footage showing just how good he is live!
I was born in 82 so I felt the same when this was on MTV as A child.
Finally a young fella who understands our music from the 80's ( this is from a 70 year old granddad !!) Love it. Man you keep up the good work ( and understanding of music)
Marvellous !!!!!
Continue to be real. Yourself is always true!. Love it 💜
Great review! Big Time is another great song by him also!
Great song and SUCH a creative video !
Don't ever let yourself be doubted by people for a good song that you like. That's why we need dudes like you.. we need people who like things that might seen weird.. That's how we evolve as a culture. Thanks dude.
One of the best sounding songs ever produced! Such an incredible headphone experience! Love the bass line!!!
This video won a bunch of awards that year. It is a known materpiece! xo
This video was HUGE on MTV in the 1980s. This video was state of the art creativity and computer animation at the time.
Just be you and continue loving your musical journey. Screw the haters.
I'm old enough to remember Peter Gabriel as the lead singer in Genesis back when Phil Collins was the drummer , he was awesome.
THIS IS IMAGINATION UNLEASHED! Love it!!!
Great reaction. Don't lose that "kid inside"! "In your eyes" from the Secret World Tour (or anything from that live concert), please - we need to bring joy and unity back to humanity.
Peter Gabriel's were NEVER boring. We'd have MTV aa bqckground & his videos were showstoppers. Every. Singke. One. Peace Out!
Don't 4get our fave...BIG TIME! Where we were in our lives & careers (mid late 20s) 😃
I have and always will love the dancing chickens
Masterpiece INDEED. This is widely considered the greatest music video of all time.
When this video came out first, majority (if not all) of people believed it was the best video EVER, It was a jaw dropping moment!
Peter Gabriel was heavily into producing compelling visuals to go along with the music ever since he was performing live as Genesis' lead singer. Because he felt self-conscious as the front man, he would often use outrageous costumes as visual elements he could essentially hide behind. Start with his cover of “Sledgehammer” on Howard Stern. He is a modern artist inspired by the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Amazing artist and voice. You won’t regret it.
You are an empath, the joy and pain you feel brings tears to my eyes.
This video won many awards due to its sheer artistry and animation in addition to the song itself. Over the years I have yet to see another video to match it in creativity and originality.
So i was born in 81. I would always wake up in the middle of the night and watch MTV lol. His videos... I loved them. I still do
You should do Burning Down the House by The Talking Heads. ALSO, I love seeing you get excited about the songs you love, seeing you smiling make us smile too.

Peter is beyond comparison singer. Great video.
This song was 20 years ahead of its time
This is class. Keep talking the way you do.This is music !!!!!! ( I am 70years old and I used to dance to this) Keep it up. From Aussie. I feel young again.
Red Rain is an amazing Peter Gabriel song too. Just brilliant.
Over 30K still photographs were combined to create this visual video masterpiece.
I was in my twenties in the eighties best decade ever the music was absolutely the best.
I remember the first time I saw this on MTV back in the day. I was so amazed by it. Back then there had never been anything like it. The song is great and the video just blew it up.
He was the first singer for Genesis and a pioneering video artist !
Been to many gigs and saw countless bands. in my time and this guy puts on the most fantastic and best stage sets and performances you will ever see by far!!!👌🥰
Do big time, by him!
Peter Gabriel - 'Digging In The Dirt' is another fab song and video you should react to! 😎

Whatever year this video came out, I believe it won "Video of the Year", an M.T.V. award.
No need to apologize for showing how you feel. Keep your reactions real. Thanks for sharing
Peter Gabriel’s “Shock The Monkey”. One of favorites of all time.
I love your reaction to this. I was about 20 when it came out and everyone was just flabbergasted, especially at the dancing chickens. I so loved Gabriel for making it. Aardman really did a fab job.
One of the few songs that is better with the video. Extremely creative.
Another great song with an awesome video that you would like from the '80's is "You Might Think" by The Cars. Also since you are into The Bangles, you should do "Manic Monday". Awesome choice, JB, glad you liked it!
Another fantastic song from the past

I love multi ethnic videos and music from back in the day. I remember when this came out and it was great! So much talent back then we all just took it for granted. Now, many are searching for an alternative to the current music or want to experience the music of yesteryear. Great reaction!
Great song and official video... check out 'Big Time" for another great music video....
But my favorite Peter Gabriel song is Solisbury Hill
That was not over the top, it was a spot on reaction to an incredible song and video. I first saw this in 1985 I think it was and have loved it ever since. Got me into Peter Gabriel who has created some incredible music over the years. Loved your reaction!!
Back in the day this video was held up as an example of technical artistry with its stop motion animation effects. Still enjoy watching it in 2020!
Hey JBLETHAL - AND - THANK You, for being You...! : )
You are so right - this is one of the greatest videos ever created. It was definitely one of my faves back in the day! And this was the 80's and look what they did back then! And a great dancing song too.
Thank you for making this channel and keeping the music alive!
Great groove. Tremendous vocals.
This video even after all this time is still so much fun to watch . I remember when it debuted on MTV , still a revaluation to watch. Fun song still.
