    Hi Bree. What kind of procedures do you perform as an NP in the ICU? Thanks!

      Hi. This largely depends on your specialty and sub specialty. For example I am AGACNP and work on ICU so I intubate, place dialysis catheters, central lines, paracentesis, LP’s mostly. Other places folks do chest tubes, thoracentesis, pa catheters, etc. Other sub specialties like oncology does bone marrow biopsies, derm does different procedures, etc.

    Hi Bree! In your opinion, is it better to work dayshift as a brand new NP?

    • @BreeJuskowiak
      @BreeJuskowiak  4 года назад +6

      Yes. You have more resources, more colleagues, more teachers, and the biggest benefit is rounds. That’s where you really learn. Many new grads are hired for nights as this is the less desirable shift and often you just want to get your foot in the door. That’s fine. Just make sure you have a very long orientation phase perhaps even on days for that period, if not with a very strong night shift teacher. Much of what you’ll do at night is trouble shoot acute issues so you need a good grasp on understanding acute management.

      @@BreeJuskowiak for a full time job is it still 3 shifts a week?

    • @BreeJuskowiak
      @BreeJuskowiak  3 года назад

      Depends on the practice/specialty. For me it’s 3 (13 hr) shifts/wk.

      I do! I’m working on this video now actually. Waiting to hear back from some publishers because I’m hoping 🤞🏻 to have some giveaways. BOLO
