I am from Pakistan, grew up watching both bollywood and Pakistani Pop Music which was booming in the early 2000s,bollywood did take alot of songs, which is fine, but they never credited the original artists, which is bad.Some artists filed cases too, but individuals could never win against such a big industry. Copying the work of an smaller artist without proper compensation is theft pure and simple. Bollywood music directors didn't even give a word of recognition while bagging millions of rupees for themselves. Copying the work of an smaller artist without proper compensation is theft pure and simple. Bollywood music directors didn't even give a word of recognition while bagging millions of rupees for themselves. There must to be copy right laws enacted to protect the bread and butter of the smaller artists regardless of their nationality.

I don’t mind so much when Bollywood ‘copies’ old songs because I typically just see them as modern remakes, but what infuriates me is when they take religious or spiritual music and turn it into something entirely else.
