This song was one of the few that helped me through my depression and suicidal thoughts last year since this song has really been out for more than 10 years now. I pretty much was doing exactly what the lyrics were saying, like "drowning in the bottom of a bottle" just to get away from those thoughts, even though they'd still be there when I sobered up. Most of my depression comes from thoughts of never being good enough for my family and friends. I'd wake up without a purpose and try to do my best to hide everything. And the lyrics "It's hard for me to understand myself, so it has to be hard as hell for you!" basically sums up what I thought when people tried to console me. Eventually, I talked to a professional and I was able to get out of it. I still get those thoughts of never being enough from time to time, but last year was definitely the worst I've ever gotten just because it was day after day after day. I know people give 5FDP a lot of shit, Ivan in particular, but their music has helped save my life and many others as well

They released a video for it in 2022 however, because when it dropped, it was Ivan's birthday and they were like a week or so away from Ivan reaching 4 years sober from alcoholism. They made this video for a song that didn't a lot of attention, for Ivan.

Been clean for over 3 years. I began to feel withdrawal symptoms within 2 hours of the opiates wearing off and they’d last for about 48 hours. That was with one 10mg oxy. Basically I was paying to feel like a bag of smashed gooch. That was my endgame and I got clean after that. I tried NA but it got too political considering it was 2017 and everyone in the meetings kept blaming OrangeManBad for their relapse or use and that goes against everything that NA stands for. Take responsibility and stop blaming others for your own choices. Regardless, I wish you luck in your journey but remember to not use “just for today.” Also, you’ll feel better the more time passes and you’ll become healthier. Plus, sex gets even better 💪🏼🤣

So I saw a video that Ivan posted about what the song ment and how he ended up dead trying to quit alcohol cold turkey. When he came back from death he said don’t tell the fans. He was so worried about how fans would react. When he woke up he said he felt something wet not realizing it was his daughters tears. He is sober now. I hope as fans we can all learn famous people are human as well. As fans we should be there and not make anyone feel like they need worry about how the fans act. We should support them if they are struggling like Ivan was. I also heard before and also thanks to the video Ivan did that you need to quit slowly when you drink so much because your body will give out and sometimes it can result in death. Why alcohol is legal blows my mind considering that it can cause so much damage. I’m very glad Ivan is okay and that he has been sober for 4 years.

This definitely hits home for me. I've been down in that dark place one too many times. I tried ending it all by downing a bottle like he did, but all it gave me was alcohol poisoning. I also once tried swallowing a handful of pills and that just put me in the hospital and made me really sick. It's so tough to battle those demons who are telling you things will be better off this way... This past July, my dad lost his battle with his demons and killed himself.
The only good to come out of that, is now I don't want to take my own life as much as I used to, after seeing and feeling what it's like to lose a family member like that. It hurts so bad, and I don't want to put anyone through that.

Would love to see you react to Poets of the Fall - Carnival of Rust (their most well known song and the music video got voted as the best Finnish music video ever back in 2006 when the song was released). Truly an underrated band from here in Finland. Also a band with many different sounds all the way from slow melodic songs to full on rock.
Although if you want to immediately hear a song that showcases how crazy good the lead singer Marko Saaresto's voice can be (and while his vocal range might not be the most dynamic out there he is an amazing example of what you can achieve by having absolutely perfect control of your vocals especially the raw emotion that his voice is able to convey) then i recommend listening to their song Daze. His vocals on the chorus are something out of this world.
I just think that so many more people would love their music if they just ever heard them but since their from Finland it rarely happens. Although many have heard their songs in Remedy's video games Max Payne 2, Alan Wake, Quantum Brake and Control
(Also every single reactor i have seen reacting to them has been pretty much blown away by their music so i'm very confident you'll like it)
also... also... lot's of deep and meaningful lyrics and wordplay in their songs
sorry for the long rant i just really want more people to know about them

As a law enforcement officer, I've been on both sides of "that scene". I've been there to revive somebody, and I've had to be brought back in that state myself. Everybody faces demons. Nobody is immune. Sometimes, those of us that seem the strongest, have the darkest demons to face. It's a tragic circle in my line of work. Hard to leave work at work, and home at home. We see some dark shit. But we have to deal with our own lives, and problems too. People forget that sometimes. Check in on each other. Never hesitate to reach out or talk. Those of us who have been there will be there. I'm here. Reach out.

for most curious as it's pretty obscure. This was an Itunes exclusive track on the original release of their 3rd studio album American Capitalist. it has only gained more limelight due to a release on their 2nd greatest hits album where it is featured

Recently found this song and it hits home because my family struggled with addiction. And I did till about three years when I met the love of my life and kicked the pills and quit the daily drinking. Because I fell back in love with life through her and her children.

I have been an addict since 1993. This hit home. We slip, we fall, and we get up again...I have to be careful of alcohol also....Ganga helps, I have been smoking for 2 years now, did not make me want anything more. My mom was an alcoholic, the imagery of him drinking that whole bottle was tough....

I relate to this song so much.. I haven't had an addiction, but I watched my dad become so consumed by his alcohol addiction that it led to killing him. I was 13, and I have never been the same since, and it's been over 12 years.. I felt so powerless and useless not being able to help the most important man in my life and that will stay with me forever..

This song screams to me. A truth I know.
Growing up, my mother and father were raging alcoholics (and they both had alcoholic parents). I thought we were a normal family but they were violent and it tore my family apart. I still didn’t understand how crazy that it was.
As a young adult, I drank. A lot. 7 days a week, blind drunk and thought that was how I was supposed to be if I was an adult. Around 25 years old, I started understanding how abnormal and awful my childhood had been and I promised to never bring a child into a life like mine was. In other words, I chose alcohol over parenthood. I was well on my way to repeating my family history.
Fast forward to age 33 and I found myself pregnant. I quit drinking that day and haven’t had a drop of alcohol now in 21 years, this year. I kept my promise about not bringing a child into the same as I had but in a different way than I expected. I thought that meant not having kids but instead it meant breaking the family cycle and raising 3 boys in a solid marriage as a stone cold sober mom.

I deal greatly with depression, I also deal with an opioid action to Xanax which is a struggle everyday. To those out there that are dealing with an addiction of some sort, there are others out there who are also dealing with maybe the same thing. God bless all of you and may you find that strength to get through this.

  • @beezle1976

The part when he was in hospital and got visitors kind of broke me.
I've suffered severe anxiety and depression for about 20 years now and learned that people will abandon you if they dont understand.
Eighteen admissions to hospital in the last 4 years (I only know this because they told me last I was hospitalized) and I find myself wishing there was a single person on the planet who cared enough to visit me, even once during those times. I imagine it would be nice, and help.
Family doesn't support, they antagonize. The worse my health becomes the more the family hates me. When a person is open and honest and confesses to suicide attempts and the fact I think about it all the time all they just get told "How dare you tell me that. How do you think it makes me feel? Never talk to me again". They'll then contact you again so they can tell you how bad a person you are.
Hopefully one day I'll get it right. There is no "better" or support for me out there. It's just how it goes for some people unfortunately.

When I first saw Ivan chugging that whole bottle, It actual made me heave, I don't miss that part of me at all!! I used to have 4-5 beers and then rest of the night would be whiskey+soda every Saturday night. Makes me sick just typing this but I'm happy to be sober since May of 2020! I remember being at a FFDP show Ivan telling the crowd he had died just like in this video, It was shocking to know his problem was getting that bad but Ivan looks and sounds amazing nowadays, Cant wait for new music

I'm celebrating 3 months sober. My wife left me for another man in April the day after I threw her an amazing birthday party. And it's been a struggle. I was using alcohol to numb the pain but it just made things worse. I stopped doing things around the house. Dishes were piling up, my room was full of dirty clothes, I was going to work without bathing or doing laundry. It was bad now I'm caught up on everything and just got a promotion. I bought a Veloster. And I finally feel free enough to move on with my life.

Yo Alex. You should definitely review the song every time you leave by I Prevail. It tells the story of someone that they love that leaves and when they leave it feels like they lose that piece of them that makes them whole. You’ll have to watch the music video to get the story but you’ll be able to get the meaning when you listen to it.

On my first watch i was in tears. These demons that come from addictions took over both my parents, and having to live a childhood of constant trauma from what they caused has broken me. My mum is 9 years clean and I am so proud of her for it, but just... this was so well filmed i was in tears

Reading all of the comments here, I lost my cousin 12 years ago to addiction. He and I were like brothers. It still bothers me to this day. All he had to do was open his mouth and he could still be here. I'm happy for those who have recovered from their addictions and kicked their demons asses. Alex, God bless you man for bringing this reaction to the light. I love you bro!! Earlier today I had some really dark feelings of depression and a total resentment come over me. My wife and I have been fighting quite a bit lately over stupid crap. My inner demons started tugging too hard and I just blanked out. Thinking about just ending it all. Being a dad to a 2 year old daughter and that there are people worse off than me. It went away. Have something to look forward to, get help! Do Not take matters in your own hands. It's not worth it. It was a sad spirit that hit me but I snapped out of it. I thought to myself, have I done enough or do I have more in the tank? I have more left in the tank. Life is too short. Love you all!!

the reason this song didnt get as much traction as death punch's other songs is cause ((if I remember correctly)) they were in the middle of finishing the song, but their label said 'hey we have to release this album *now* guys. no time to finish the song' so they released it on the deluxe edition of the same album. very very good fucking song, probably my most favorite from them.

What makes this song. Whether the video was released yesterday or ten years ago, is the relevance. It’s that it identifies with so many. It reaches and speaks to and for so many. Giving a a platform to openly discuss. I swam in the bottom of my own hell, out of self blame, it was easier to feel broken. And while I’ve been sober 15 plus years, Each day the fight back is SO WORTH IT, each new day has some good. Forgiveness from other may or may not ever come, but it begins with SELF FORGIVENESS. If you are out there and struggling? I love you. You matter. You ARE the universe.
