Awesome Jabs and watching the Throwback Thursday and Stranger Things and The Goldberg's makes want to hop in the Delorean Timachine and go back to the awesome 80s! I remember being 8 years old and walking to Circle K and buying these cards! I miss those days!
I love this set. It's great to see the 2 big rookies, Mattingly and Strawberry, were pulled. I was fortunate in 1984 that a Co-op store a mile from my parents house had '84 Fleer rack packs. I would go shopping with my mom there and she'd buy one for me almost every trip. I never pulled a Mattingly RC but did pull 2 Strawberry RC's that summer. The memories of putting together this set are priceless.
83 Topps & 84 Fleer 2 of my favorite sets from the 80s, watching these videos the last few weeks has made me wanna collect again, still got alot of my old cards
the pack you got the "tim raines"... the first card of that pack was the other "half" of the two card, left / right card. Those two cards "fit" side by side. 10:45 Andrew Dawson / Tim Raines.
It's Al Oliver with Raines. Jabs breezed right by all the double cards without mentioning them! Those are very cool. There are 3 double card sets in 84 Fleer. (2 in 85F).
Congrats on the great pulls! And I really love seeing the old Brewers that are now in the Hall of Fame including you Yount, Molitor, Fingers and even Don Sutton who pitched in their World Series in 1982 that I got to watch on TV.
My late grandfather loved Andy Van Slyke as well, since he was a "lunch pail" hard-nosed, effort type player. And had that terrific season back in '88.
My dad bought me a box of these for my 13th Birthday ..I was def chasing the Strawberry card.I'd always ask for a box of cards for most birthdays .... Rip Dad ❤
Fleer always has that gritty feeling for some reason. Nice that you found a Mattingly. Waiting on the call from the front desk for the noise complaint for the shouting when you found it haha. The hit of the box though was the Nolan of course. I'm glad you corrected yourself with "second best rookie card" when you found the Strawberry. Clearly, Nolan regular is #1, Mattingly rookie, #2. :)
a lot of great players in there. also, throwing it over the center field fence was perfect. a solid lip read of "what is wrong with you?!" on him. lotta old braves mixed in there with it too
Couldn't ask for a better box. Pretty much got all the hits you could hope for and lots of HoFers. 1984 was one of the best years for designs from all three manufacturers in my opinion. Awesome job Erik, thank you.
Ahhh... what a good set. Loved it as a kid. I know you are hunting Andy, you can say Donnie Baseball all you want, you want to see a couple Van Slykes fall out of there lol.
Opened up boxes of Topps 84 Fleer seemed hard to find in those early years do you remember liking the pirate's in the early 80s and buying an 83 Fleer team set from a baseball card show in 83 so in short never had a chance to open this year pack so thank you I'll always wonder what the odds are finding those rare gems
Just curious, but if you were to just buy the set would the value of the mattingly be different compared to one pulled from a pack, would there be any ways to tell?
Stack 1: great stack, worth it even though there were no good rookies Stack 2: pretty lousy stack, got better at the end Stack 3: great stack at the beginning, got worse towards the end (nice Mattingly!) Stack 4: decent stack- Strawberry was dinged
I like all the 1984 designs (though generallly always frowned at Topps for the grey cardstock....I thought you were doing this as usual from your kitchen counter. Background looks similar.
83 & 84 was such great years for collecting cards, at least in my world. Loved 83 & 84 for Fleer, Topps and even Donruss.
Awesome Jabs and watching the Throwback Thursday and Stranger Things and The Goldberg's makes want to hop in the Delorean Timachine and go back to the awesome 80s! I remember being 8 years old and walking to Circle K and buying these cards! I miss those days!
Very very good box! Mattingly AND Strawberry. Wow! I enjoyed watching those two play in the 80s and 90s alot!
I opened many of the cello packs of these from a corner store in Philadelphia. Love them. I didn’t live far from the Fleer factory.
That Glenn Hubbard card at 16:50 was my favorite as a kid. Loved the boa constrictor!
That's not Ken Oberkfell.

So nice seeing these fresh out of the pack. One of my favorite 80's Fleer designs, simple, but great photos.
83 Topps & 84 Fleer 2 of my favorite sets from the 80s, watching these videos the last few weeks has made me wanna collect again, still got alot of my old cards
Had this entire set in great shape. Really cool to see these older designs. Thanks for sharing.
Great break and classic looking cards.
Love the design of these. So hard to find these even when I started back collecting in 1985.
I started in 1985 too! Pulled a Gooden in my 1st pack. Here I am 34 years later. Thanks Doc!

No excitement for the Hubbard? Love that card!
I know, I was disappointed that didn't get a comment. The Hubbard card and Mickey Hatcher with the huge glove are very iconic.
TYSM for sharing Erik while you are @ the Nationals. Wish I could have made it to meet you in person maybe next year ok 👍
Congrats on the great pulls! And I really love seeing the old Brewers that are now in the Hall of Fame including you Yount, Molitor, Fingers and even Don Sutton who pitched in their World Series in 1982 that I got to watch on TV.

Love 84 Fleer. Great TBT

The search for Mattingly great vid 👍

That was the best hit back in 1984
Brings back so many good memories
Awesome video!! Love the cards.
Nice, i really love these! I only have the Darryl Strawberry and Ryne Sandberg from this set for the worthwhile ones.

Does Mattingly’s mustache have its own rookie card?
Chuck Norris has to allow that
Best card dude on youtube
Love Dan Quisenberry on the box!
Andy Van Slyke😀Sweet!John Smiley was my hero though. He was a great dude.
Erik, I believe you did this exact wax box on a previous Throwback Thursday. I could be wrong however. Nice box regardless!
Hello there sir, I sent you a package of baseball cards, you should get it probably next week, thank you for every thing you do for the hobby
At one time in the late 80s that mattingly went for 100 dollar...hot card
Just curious, but if you were to just buy the set would the value of the mattingly be different compared to one pulled from a pack, would there be any ways to tell?
I'm probably opened 1000 of These I was. 13.Yrs old. Every .25 cents we came up with only. 3 Pepsi bottles and pack and get a peice of candy
I need to get one of those Rollie Fingers cards. That photo of him with that moustache is great.
i really love this set
Nice cards. I need one of those Pirate stickers!
I’m watching this video solely on the possibility of pulling a Wathan.
Nice choice on TBT video

Got my pack lot from you today. Thanks for the bonus 93 Bonds Jabs auto!
Just had a vendors case of topps 91' show up today. You feed my addiction lol.
Great video
$40? Is the big hit? Before grading.
Glenn Hubbard at 16:50 holding a snake. That's badass.
Stack 1: great stack, worth it even though there were no good rookies
Stack 2: pretty lousy stack, got better at the end
Stack 3: great stack at the beginning, got worse towards the end (nice Mattingly!)
Stack 4: decent stack- Strawberry was dinged
I also like the Cal card. Going to look to buy it on Ebay.
Trevor Bauer had class and apologized to everyone
The Wade Boggs and Rod Carew go together to make one card on bottom left packs. Both in same pack .
Jerry koosman had a pretty good career himself
Nice set never seen the 84 set
Andy van Slyke has to be one of the coolest names ever :D
I have the mattingly iN his set graded 8.5 by PSA. NICE FLEER SET.
Mattingly became a manager to get in HOF, he should get it with 300 more wins
I like all the 1984 designs (though generallly always frowned at Topps for the grey cardstock....I thought you were doing this as usual from your kitchen counter. Background looks similar.
Nice Mattingly
Awesome!
One of my friends was roommates in rehab with Strawberry in the 90’s. He would give him tix to Giants games.
Lol at the commons on the box.
Do you buy cards? I believe I have a 1984 Don Mattingly from back in the day when I collected.
Jody Davis! He signed TTM for me recently
I’m 12 have a 1976 Gaylord perry
Hi Eric
Do like old baseball baseball card opening 👌😀
WHAT?!?! No John Wathan?!?!
14:09 Don Mattingly without a stache.
The Trevor Bauer story is great in 2024
hey erik do you think if you live 5 hours away from the national you could make it a day trip
Picked up the Strawberry RC for a $1 at a local show a few months back.
Hey jabs have fun at the national!!!!
