I’m 16 and I was wondering what if a student has no experience but still wants to go to college sports. I really don’t want to waste anybody’s time but I just would wonder if they’d even want to coach me knowing that I’m not in the same rank as everybody else or the average athlete
When I first email the coach should I include my coaches information down below. And if so do you think its okay to add both high school and club coaches?
Think there should at least be one thing in there to really entice the coach. Just a key stat (For example if you have a good 40-time in football) to really get the coach to open the email.
Are there any alternatives to a highlight video? Especially now when there are no games since March up until September probably.. Maybe a skills video just so they can get an insight on us until we can send a real highlight video? Thank you
Absolutely! Coaches are flexible now with games not being played in most areas of the country. Put together a skills video, send it to the coach and let them know that you'll send him a highlight video once you get back to playing.
I’m a freshman looking to start getting myself on the radar but don’t have a highlight video, I just switched clubs as well. Is it okay if I just send them my information and follow up with a video after a few months of playing?
im 16 (2005) and from the uk looking to go to america for college soccer. due to covid i havent made a highlight reel. im still in the process of improving and getting to in better condition. what age or year should i start emailing coaches
Definitely start reaching out now! Since you don't have a highlight video, look into making a skills video in the meantime. We have a video on our RUclips page how to do so!
College camps can be helpful, but the best camps are ones that you know that college coaches will be there and that you've had previous communication with college coaches. While camps can be helpful for college coaches to see you, they typically have a list of players they want to see before they even show up so it's rare that you'll just be discovered at a camp.
Yes! Definitely include things like your highlights, key stats, why you're interested in that school and contact info in the email itself. A great subject line will just help catch a college coach's attention.
If you don't hear back from an email, try a phone call. At this stage you'll have to be extremely proactive reaching out to coaches and you'll need to be open to all division levels.
Should I send at the end of the season when I have all of my highlights and stuff or keep on sending them videos through the season cause I don’t want to spam them with a bunch of videos
I am junior in high school and want to email them but because od corona there were no competitions in my country for more than six month so all my results are old. Should I still email them and tell them about old results or should I wait? I don't know when the season will continue
You can definitely do that! I would either try to put together some sort of skills video in the meantime and make sure to let a coach know when you expect to have video.
Great question! That will typically depend on the size of the coaching staff. For a smaller staff, one of the main assistants or even the head coach is fine. For a larger coaching staff, look for a recruiting coordinator or for their position specific coach.
D3 schools technically do not give athletic scholarships. There are many other forms of financial aid available at that level though including academic aid, grants and more. You can learn more about the differences in division levels here. www.ncsasports.org/recruiting/how-to-get-recruited/college-divisions
If you're a senior, you're correct, you do have until August to be recruited. The key to finding options is casting a wide net. Consider all division levels including D2, D3, NAIA and junior college.
Hi, I was just wondering if it’s ok as a parent to email junior colleges as my son is only 16, we are based in Australia so just trying to get him on the radar, thanks
Apparently coaches say it is better if the kid them self emails a coach, because they think that the parents are more interested then the person them self
Nico Ethan thanks , I didn’t realise until I watched some RUclips videos that I was doing the wrong thing , I let the highlights video speak for itself that I wasn’t over embellishing his achievements, cheers
I would definitely recommend having the student-athlete being the one emailing coaches. A parent can communicate with the coach later on in the process if they have specific questions, but the student-athlete should be driving all communication.
"It's a complicated process, Cotton" made me laugh.
Thank you so much
It won’t let me send anything for some reason

I am a Junior in high school and i have gotten some offers from other college coaches, but how should i respond back to them?
When I first email the coach should I include my coaches information down below. And if so do you think its okay to add both high school and club coaches?
Definitely include your coach's contact info, both club and high school if you have both!
I heard you should keep your subject short. Maybe just grad year and position, what do you guys think about that?
Think there should at least be one thing in there to really entice the coach. Just a key stat (For example if you have a good 40-time in football) to really get the coach to open the email.
Are you affordable or will I have to refin my home ?

i am in the same situation. so, please leave a response
Absolutely! That's a great idea. That way you're able to introduce yourself to the coaching staff now and it gives you an excuse to follow up later.
Dang I have no highlights, didnt play during highschool, and I'm late emailing coaches. I hope they give me a chance though.
Update?

What do you think about college basketball camps, and can that help me get recruited. Such as hoop group,

I'm a Senior graduating in June, and I'm 2 months late to the recruiting game. I emailed coaches with no reaspnce, what a good way to follow up?

A mid-season video and an end of season video is a pretty good in-between to make sure you're keeping them updated, but not spamming them.
@@ncsa Ok thanks so much
It’s not letting me send the email
Try to find the coaches personal email and not the school one on a website because some of those are inactive

how to tell a coach about your weaknesses and streghts
