    IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!! i’ve been subscribed to you forever and i love you! my dream is to play an OH at usc, i’m an eighth grader i’m 13 and this is my fourth year playing club i’m on the 16s team(our highest non travel team) i am only 5’4” but i’ve been working on my vertical jump and i’m not gonna let my height get in the way of my dream. also i met brooke botkin and i wish to one day meet you 🥺🥰 any advice for me? how often should i email coaches? should i do it multiple times throughout the club season?

    • @victoriabrowne
      @victoriabrowne  4 года назад +8

      So glad you love the channel and I'm glad you finally got the video you wanted! :) As for how often to email, you should ask your coaches what they recommend! i really don't know the answer and don't want to advise you wrong, I didn't email seriously until my sophomore year of hs.

    Hey Victoria! What advice would you give when there's a weaker player on a team? I play club, and it's kinda frustrating sometimes. Any recommendations? Thanks!

    • @victoriabrowne
      @victoriabrowne  4 года назад +45

      You're only as good as your weakest link! Stay supportive, stay kind, and also stay at your level. Don't feel bad about playing well, you will do them a disservice if you go easy on them... lastly, this person probably knows they are the weakest and that probably doesn't feel great, so make sure that no matter what you are nice! You can be bomb at volleyball and beat people badly but still be nice!! :)

    Hey Victoria! My daughter has just joined club this year and has been doing really well. Coach has made her the full time Libero and my daughter absolutely loves the position! My question is, how soon is too soon to start the recruiting process? She is only in 6th grade, but she has mentioned to me without me asking that she wants to play in college (SEC actually). Is it too soon to start preparing now? I am just so thankful for this sport and my daughter loves it! Thanks for your time!

    Hey Victoria. I’m 13 about to turn 14 and I am on my 14-2 team. I’m worried that I may not be on 15-1s next year because the girls on the 1s team I feel like already has permanent spots which I feel is unfair.

    • @victoriabrowne
      @victoriabrowne  4 года назад +5

      If you are good enough, and the coaches believe you can help the team win, you will make the 1s team. If not, or if there are various factors at play, maybe try out at a handful of clubs to see your options! :)

      Haha hi I’m not in college now but I can help. Your height is going to affect your recruiting but understand that your skill level stands out more than physical qualities ever will. You may have to play more error free and at a higher skill level. But if U do those u should be good. Also I had a girl at my club named Hattie she was about 5’4 and played JR USA volleyball and got a scholarship to Norte dame. So have hope and work hard :)

      As an OH, you should do a passing and an attacking video yes. You could also do a pass to hit video where its you passing and then attacking in the same play. Subject can just be NAME - GRAD YEAR - POSITION (Victoria Garrick - 2015 Libero)

    I have a few questions because it’s really been stressing me out... I have played volleyball for about 6-7 years and am currently a senior and about to play my club season. I didn’t play club last year because I decided I needed a break, but I do regret it. I know I was a pretty good player but the anxiety almost takes over. I would get nervous for my games and be soooo nervous to make a mistake.. this made me a better player but messed up my mental health. I think that’s why I decided I wanted to “quit” but am now realizing that I will regret this for the rest of my life if I don’t play while I still can. I have watched so many of your videos and look up to you so much, and I think you could give me some insight of what you did to help with the anxiety? I just feel like I’m not good enough and that I will just continuously make mistakes. I hope that makes sense!

    Hi Victoria!! I've been binge-watching your videos recently, and I had a question about playing... I only got into volleyball this year, but it's my senior year of high school. I'm really serious about it though, and I'm improving really fast. I really want to play on a college team some day, but I wanted to ask if that's even possible given that most of these girls have been playing since they were like 11. Any advice?

  • @aegis5131
    @aegis5131 4 года назад +3

    Hey Victoria! I've been watching your videos a lot because I am very interested in doing college volleyball. What sucks is that I live so far away from my school (I live up in the mountains) that my parents can't afford bringing me to practices. Therefore, I miss lots of practices and haven't done club yet (I'm 14 btw). I have hope of being able to attend practices regularly when I'm maybe 16. My question is, is that too late? You maybe won't see this but if you do, please answer. It hurts me that I can't go to practices so I want to know if it's not too late if I am able to in the future (like sophomore/junior year)

There's one big question that I would like to ask is I would like to play on ucla men volleyball team, but the problem is that I never went to a club (due to transportation) I was never on a guys team and I was a team manager on a girl's team at my high school. I was not allow to play and about to graduate. How I would I tell the coach without wasting their time? If you don't know how to answer my question, that is totally fine. Hope to hear you soon. Hi Victoria! I play soccer, but I think the basic format of player info, why the college and a video of a game or skill footage would still work. Also on the video note, do you think college coaches would appreciate vids of technical skills (foot skills, passing, shooting etc.)? And do you think they would accept an email of just player info and why you want to go to that school?

    Hi Victoria! Thank you so much for putting this video out here. I just had one quick question, when you were taking about putting you’re club name in the email do you just put you’re clubs name? Or do you put school and clubs name?

    • @victoriabrowne
      @victoriabrowne  4 года назад +1

      I just put my club name, you can include your HS name but it doesn't really matter if your HS team isn't competitive.

    Hi Victoria I’m a middle on my club team and I’m only 5’6” and i don’t know if I’m going to keep growing but i still love the sport and would love to play in college so would you recommend switching positions because i know my height wont be that helpful in the future or should i stay and see what happen. Also I’m scared that I’m not going to even be tall enough for my high school team next year (im in 8th grade right now) and i don’t want to stop playing.

      You should ask your coach this questions since they have seen you play and can evaluate what's best for you!

    Great video! I'm a dad of a high school baseball player and we needed a bit of help with putting a solid email together. I appreciate the information as this format is perfect for us. Interestingly enough, my middle son went to his first introductory Volleyball practice last night. I'm happy that he seems to have found a sport to get his exercise and potentially money for college.

      your height, approach jump, and standing reach (they need this info especially if they are looking for a setter to run a 5-1)

Also I’m in a division 5 school and it would most likely be a conflict for me to get into a college I want but I just need some advice. If you can help me I would really appreciate it thank you !

    Hi Victoria! I’m subscribed to your RUclips account and I have a BIG question to ask. I’ve played outside hitter my whole life. Now I’m graduating high school and I’m just too short to be playing outside in college. The thing is, I have a try out tomorrow and I will be going as a libero. I have a really good defense and I pass really well, still, I have never played that position. I will be practicing later today but I just don’t know what I can do to at least pretend I’m not just throwing myself out there without any experience. Please, I would be sooo thankful If you could help me.😩

    • @victoriabrowne
      @victoriabrowne  4 года назад +7

      Just be REALLY honest with whoever is evaluating you!! Say that you have played OH your entire life, and have never played libero, but that you love a challenge, are eager to learn, and are excited to take on a new role. They will admire your transparency and also this way you don't have to fake it, instead they can coach you up a little and see how well and how quickly you can adjust. Good luck!

    Just learned that I can't get surgery to stop my kneecaps from dislocating. I might be able to prevent it from dislocating if I do some Physical Therapy. Should I keep playing volleyball if I'm having knee problems or should I just sit out and focus on keeping my knees in good condition.

    Hi, I am following your channel and love your videos! I am playing the highest level of university volleyball in the UK and it's always been my dream to play as a student athlete in the US but when I was in high school I had no idea how that worked (I am from Italy and we have no such thing as college sports there). Is there any way that an "older" student could be recruited, like as postgraduate, or is it too late and basically the chance is gone? Is you have any tips or recommendations for this I'd love to know more :)
