    Fun fact: the Temerario engine is not Lamborghini's first V8 engine. They had used a 90 degree naturally aspirated V8 engine in the Urraco, Jalpa and Silhouette models from 1971 to 1988 and that engine was designed by Giampaolo Dallara, the founder of Dallara Motorsports.

      @@SONO4B11T to be more exact on that: Power equals ( torque * rpm ) / constant.
      the constant depends on the measurement system used.
      Its also fairly easy to explain why in more natural terms: during a single revolution at wide open throttle, the engine produces its torque once. If you manage to do two revolutions in the same time, you get the same torque twice within that time frame and can do more work.
      Its not that simple on real engines, as higher rpm also means greater internal resistance on the engine due to higher loads on all bearings and more cylinder walls being traveled by the pistons as well as camshafts needing to be changed to optimize timing for the faster engine speed etc etc, which is where VTEC, VANOS, Freevalve etc come in.
      Shockwave/pressure wave propagation is an insanely complicated topic that seems like black magic from the outside

    • @zibingotaeam3716
      @zibingotaeam3716 4 месяца назад +4

      Hot V/ cold V on a twin turbo is a packaging question. Cold V engines are wide, hot Vs are tall, cold V engines have the exhaust below the banks, while with a hot V its high and in the middle.
      he talked about RPM, but I think he forgot to mention the sound. Ferrari V8s already scream, but this thing will rev 1000 rpm further, so it will scream even higher.
      The dual turbos are simple, single turbo setups just lead to lag, because the turbine has too much inertia. dual turbos lead to less top end power, but more usable power throughout the rpm range and less time waiting for a massive turbo to spool up.
      Dynamics wise I suspect that a cold V would lead to lower center of gravity, but at the same time it means you have less freedom with how you're designing the floor of the car because with suspension, frame and exhaust manifolds + turbos, its pretty cramped down there.
      With a hot V, you get all of that out of the way because now, all you need is a fairly slim intake system that's much more flexible in its shape than the exhaust and can also be made from different materials - all of which means that below the banks, you are free to do whatever you want.

    • @ArneChristianRosenfeldt
      @ArneChristianRosenfeldt 4 месяца назад +3

      Hot Vee was introduced to straighten the air intake for cars where the engine is in the front. Porsche then used the hot vee in a mid engine because they feared that the battery (on the floor) would ignite.

    Lambo wanted to put their "roadlegal" new V8 into the SC63 but with advice of real race engineers at Ligier and Prema, they change their mind (because their V8 was simply to heavy and not efficient enough) and decided to ask Autotechnica to design a twin turbo V8 for the SC63. Here is the true story.

  • @JonGlez978

    If this engine has the proper geometry for high rpm workloads modified it will break all Huracan records (assuming a company crazy enough to modify them)... That's why you see GTR eclipse 3000 HP and Lambo's V10 struggle past that despite the displacement advantage... their piston speeds hurts them (You can't engineer yourself out of a long stroke design).

    First of all, no one complained of "loss of power", I don't know where you got that from. Secondly, you're making seem like that 5.0L V10 is similar to the 5.2L V10. They're not. They're completely different engines. The biggest difference being that the bore spacing is difference. The two engines have completely different blocks and heads. They have nothing I'm common other than the fact that both engines are a V10.

    Honestly I would've preferred this engine to be N/A hybrid rather than turbo hybrid, since it would have less power than the V12 of the Revuelto without being compromised, and since twin turbo v8 hybrids are the same if not more powerful than N/A V12 hybrids, they tried to kept it below from the Revuelto to not canibalize its sales and status as the halo car of Lamborghini, but then why put two turbos and hybrid powertrain then, or remove the hybrid powertrain or remove the turbos, then you would have a baby Revuelto rather than a almost Revuelto-beating car.

    Why? Warum?

Claims that piston speed is bad for reliability and is a hard limit. Shows many production cars with a wide spread of piston speeds passing this limit. No numbers about engine life. Some vague claim about lack of power, but no dyno run. Somehow palpatine returned -- aehm -- somehow engineers overcame the piston speed limit. Just funny how strokers reach higher velocity. Maybe the rule was for race engines with a short stroke?
    The V6 either has really bad balance, or a weak crankshaft. V8 flat plane at least is balanced to first order. Just use long conrods. Long conrods help with RPM. I wonder if there are some laws about idle RPM. A racing V8 has no flywheel and needs high idle RPM. This would certainly violate some emission laws. In a hybrid you can just risk engine stall when you don't need much power. So, detect stall, stop fuel injection, open clutch.
