New crosswalks going up across Las Vegas to help with reducing crashes

New crosswalks are going up around town with the hope of reducing the almost-daily occurrence of pedestrian crashes in the Las Vegas valley. Alyssa Bethencourt reports.

I lived in Las Vegas for 22 years and I never dared to use a cross walk. Jaywalking is much safer!

Thank you LV. As someone who (not in Las Vegas) was hit by a drunk driver while crossing a big street (and interrogated by the cops like I hit myself with a drunken car), you know people don't care about others. I have a hard enough time explaining why I don't drive, as if that is a sin or something (you WALK to places? You take the BUS?).

Have these in Reno. They're pretty cool and actually do help. I was crossing from Gold Coast to Rio one time out there. Pressed the button at the crosswalk then walked in to traffic assuming it was going to flash yellow lights 😂 thankfully everyone stopped

……unfortunately I bet half of the people seeing these crosswalk instructions on the sign can’t even READ!! 🤷🏼‍♂️🤔👎🏻
