It hasn't stood up to the test of time as well as I'd hoped, but this was one of the most hopeful and healing moments of the immediate reaction to 9/11 for me, and I wish we had taken that hope and worldwide love and made a new commitment to peace and reinforced ourselves as an honorable nation worthy of the respect and admiration of the rest of the world, making us more capable of working hand in hand to improve the lot of everyone on the planet.
Reminds me of when we more united and at least when we talked to each other with mutual respect and love...those great Americans shown in this clip who are no longer with us...Robin Williams...Tom Petty...Ali...

His voice was still completely amazing at that point. It's faltered a bit over the years, but it's still a classic. I also feel really bad for Cassius Clay. The poor man looks like he is barely aware of where he is.

But, I am getting tired of people making a big deal of taking hats off and standing up at "God Bless America" or "America The Beautiful." The only song one has to show that respect to is the National Anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner," or, as we in Baltimore prefer to call it, "The Defense of Fort McHenry."

More than 4000 beautiful young American soldiers have died for this "cause" and hundreds of thousands in Iraq.
