I don't wanna say that they won't be putting it on this keyboard but at least from my research they haven't even put it on the 60% yet so it might be a while
@@NeonTetraAquarist Ok I don't have Instagram so I didn't know i was just assuming that it would be a while because the 60 still does not have it in aqua. Thanks for the information because I want them in aqua too.
These big brand companies are just never going to listen with fixing bad stabilizers, sigh.. I wanted to get this so bad because I know the general build quality with the hyper x keyboards are amazing along with good stock switches and now pbt keycaps included, I just wish they would include better stabs. I know many won't care, but seeing as they're including more "enthusiast" features like the 65% layout, pbt caps, etc.. They'd at least go the extra mile and do that. Great vid though! Been waiting for someone to make a video on it and you're the first I believe.
They aren't the best, but not terrible either. The spacebar doesn't seem as "rattly" in person as it does in this video. I was actually surprised when I was editing how much spacebar ping there was, i'm assuming because the mic was really close to the board it picked it up much more. It's hard to talk about stabs to people these days because they are either used to $40-$150 mechanical keyboards and don't know what a properly tuned/lubed stab SHOULD sound like, or they are people into the custom keeb scene and are spoiled by what a good stab sounds like, and expect that performance out of a mass produced stock $100 keyboard. Overall I am reasonably happy with how this board sounds though, considering price point and features.
@@MURPHFRAGS I totally feel that. I'm currently typing on an Anne Pro 2 right now which by no means has perfect stabilizers, but they are also not bad for the price I paid. At the very least, they're pre lubed and the space bar sounds the best out of all the stabilized keys. The others have more "mush" than rattle which I'd take anyday. I'm not much of a custom keyboard guy per se, so I wouldn't say I'm spoiled with top quality pcb screw in stabs perfectly balanced and wired etc.. It just would be nice if they at least added a little factory lube like those $50 RK series keyboards. But yeah, definitely are worse out there, just a small gripe. The rest of it seems amazing. I love their build quality and hyper x red switches are among my favorite linears! Buttery smooth.
HyperX will never do this so long as they don't have a keyboard with hot-swappable switches, but if they EVER put their line of red switches on the market, I think they'd sell out immediately. They're THAT good and they're what standard red switches _should_ be.
Compared to the HyperX AO 60, this keyboard does not simply have extra keys for navigation. It has actually better keystrokes (feels as if they do not have the same red-switches or that this one is lubed while the other is not). The keystrokes very surely feel less wobbly. Additionally, the PBT keycaps on the 65 looks/feels a higher cut. It has more texture for the finger-tips & has thinner/sharper fonts. Of the TKL, the 60, and the 65 versions of Alloy Origins; the 65 feels the least imperfect & the most well put together (most polished & plush), though it is missing the Right-Control-key [multiple workarounds can be programmed via the Ngenuity software].
Thanks for your feedback! I was hesitating between the 60 and the 65. I'm going to buy the 65, it feels so great i tested it in a store. It feels better than my Anne pro 2.
So I just went through and got the 65% then a TKL which I foundout had ABS so I returned both and got the PBT expecting the 65% quality and was disappointed. I'm keeping the TKL because I need those extra keys but the 65% just had better switches. They were quieter and smoother, less rattle in the switch itself and overall higher quality. I'm glad I'm not the onyl one who's noticed that the 65% is just... better
have both the 60 and the 65...took the red spacebar and esc keycaps and put them on my origins 60, looks lovely and it better suits the 60 model younger character. the 65 feels smoother and quieter while typing, but I do find the 60 easier to use, the arrow keys on the 65 model are not comfortable, and the home and del keys are misplaced IMO, they should have been placed the opposite.
I’ve seen that in some written reviews as well (and even mention of another color way). I believe their red switches are all that are available at the moment. I’m assuming they will be releasing at least one other switch variant in the near future but not 100% sure.
I kinda just picked this keyboard at randomly at Best Buy after my G413 broke. I'm really glad I did so far I really enjoy it and my only problems are really that it cannot get it to connect to the Ngeuineity software which sucks but I will figure that out. Overall it sounds a lot bettter in person then on the mic and is my first 65% and I am happy to say I don't think I am going back.
Just a bit more towards the Thock side. Do note that the custom spacebar does sound a bit more hollow than the other one that comes with it, but not bad and is worth the tradeoff for design imo...you can choose which keycap to use though.
Great review man ! I just got mine and my spacebar seems a little bit highter than the other keys next to him (alts) when keycaps in its place. How is yours ?
I’m out of town for the week so can’t look, but I’m almost positive it is flush all the way across. I’m OCD so likely would have noticed that lol. Make sure to push down on the spacebar as it may just be raised a bit as you can remove the spacebar.
@@MURPHFRAGS I have removed and reinstalled it a few times with both spare and main keycap but nothing changed. And yeah its fully sitting down on stabs. Tried to pushed it down from all sides with full power like its gonna break but it did nothing lol
@@MrShoniBare dont worry. same here, installed the red spacebar keycap and it's a bit higher than the rest. ended up putting those red spacebar and esc keycaps on my origins 60. looks lovely. perfect match
I realize that it's been months since you posted your question. Here's an answer anyway. This keyboard is better than both the Razer Huntsman Mini (purple-clicky) and the HyperX AO 60, but it isn't better than the Razer Huntsman Mini (red-linear). Compared to HX-AO-60, this has better key/switch feel (tighter tolerances / less wobble). It could have a completely different red-switch or it may simply be lubed (idk). Yet, it is missing a Right-Control-key (routinely used by some). Compared to the Huntsman Mini (red), they both have quality feel: tighter, less washy keystrokes (and both feel lubed). The Huntsman (red) may have a sliver of an edge in stroke-feel & sound: it feels even less wobbly and has a plush, muted keystroke bottom-out. Of these mentioned, Huntsman Mini (purple) is the least quality feeling keyboard: feels outright cheap, as if completely unrelated to the red-version (feels neither Razer nor Huntsman).
Both are solid boards and in similar price ranges. I think the GMMK 2 wins out here simply because it is offered in more color options and, most importantly, has a hotswap PCB. You are going to have more options now and down the line with the GMMK 2. Can't go wrong with either though if you prefer this aesthetic.
Just pull it up. Spacebar you can usually do with your fingers, or use the keycap removal tool. If using your fingers, just grab each side at the same time and pull up. If using the tool, do one side first, then the other.
@@NoChinaforever17 just depends, but probably not. I’m usually able to do it without removing any. Just depends how big your hands are and if you can get a good enough grip.
