    I would like to a video in future of affixes and the malay root word. And by integrating them, how they are actually work. Anyway this episode is awesome.

      Thank you very much for watching my videos :D Grammar is not really my strong point, but I do try to cover them from time to time when I find out simple ways to help people make sense of it. Thank you for the suggestion :D

    Great video..terima kasih!
    Besides "akan" for the future do u also use "nanti"? I was reading about it in a book? Thanks

    • @sierralisse8897
      @sierralisse8897  6 лет назад

      Hello Maverick, yes we do use nanti, sort of like the way people use 'later' in english. I explained this at 5:35.

    • @maveri.k
      @maveri.k 6 лет назад +1

      Sierra Lisse Thank you. Don't think that I didn't watch the video!☺ I meant it like instead of akan before a verb, for example "Dia nanti balik pukul satu" or "Bila gudang nanti tutup?"
      I read about it in a book about future tense.
      Is this something commonly used and means the same as akan? Thank you!

    • @sierralisse8897
      @sierralisse8897  6 лет назад

      Oh! Sorry about that. Hmm... 'Nanti' is not exactly like 'Akan'.
      Dia akan balik pukul satu.
      Bila gudang akan tutup?
      Both are okay since 'Akan' literally means 'Will'.
      But 'Nanti' is more like 'In a bit' or 'Later', so if you use it the way you use 'Akan', it will still make sense but sounds a bit strange. Like...
      Dia nanti balik pukul satu (Actually this is not bad, we do use it this way).
      He comes back at one 'in a bit'
      Bila gudang nanti tutup? (Very strange, even in English)
      When is the warehouse 'in a little bit' closing?
      I think because 'Nanti' already carries a certain amount of time in itself, so it cannot be used as 'Akan'.
      So I think the best way to look at it is to look at 'Nanti' exactly the same way you would look at a specific amount of time.
      Example:
      Lagi lima minit saya buat
      In five minutes, I will do it
      Nanti saya buat
      In a bit, I will do it
      or
      Sejam lagi dia balik
      In one hour, he will be back
      Nanti dia balik
      Later, he will be back
      Hope this helps :D And sorry for the delay.

      Sierra Lisse Thank you for the answer! Yes, helps a lot. It doesn't replace "akan" but gives the sentence a future meaning using the verb alone without akan. Probably more used for the near future, like we use in english the present continuous( I am coming in a bit etc). Thanks!

    More like
    Sedang - formal ; in all context can be use i.e writing, speak.
    Belum - informal ; locally use all around in speech i.e between 2 friends.

    I like your videos so much 😍actually for us non-malay really hard to understand shortform of B.Melayu and your videos really helpful for me!!! And so may I ask one question? Last time when I went in front of the counter,the staff asked me :"besoh mai kah? "
    I'm not sure I spell it true or not lah because I don't really understand what 'besoh' means , I just roughly guess it as the same meaning with 'pernah'...
    So,can I know what meaning is 'besoh' ? And do correct me if I spell wrong 😳 thanks!

    • @sierralisse8897
      @sierralisse8897  6 лет назад

      Hello! You're welcome! And thank you for watching my videos :D
      I'm not sure what 'besoh' means... Unless the person actually said 'besok', which means 'tomorrow'.
      Which part did this conversation take place? Somewhere in north malaysia?

    • @yhh456
      @yhh456 6 лет назад

      Sierra Lisse I'm sure it's not 'besok'
      Hmm I'm from Penang. And this conservation happened when I go to hospital and in front of counter to register ~ The nurse asked me ' besoh mai kah?'

    Past: saya sudah makan ayam
    Saya belum makan ayam
    Present: Saya tengah makan nasi lemak
    Future: Saya akan makan nasi lemak
    Is that right!!! 🙏🏻

    • @sierralisse8897
      @sierralisse8897  6 лет назад +2

      Wan Omnia Correct :D Although I just realised an error of my own teaching. Belum is 'have not'. So technically it could be present as well, couldn't it? Anyway don't worry to much about the tenses. If you haven't you can just use 'belum'. If you have, just say 'sudah'. Since tenses doesn't have any bearing on grammar, it's fine :D
