One thing about a G3 type weapon that most owners aren't aware of. Because recoil is partially mitigated by the buffer in the stock, storing the weapon with excessive oil on the internals can cause oil to pool in the end cap of the stock. This will then lubricate the inside of the buffer tube and reduce it's effectiveness significantly. To fix this, you must remove the buffer and clean the unit with a degreaser, like aerosol brake cleaner. This allows the friction to do what it was intended to do. I store mine barrel down to avoid any chance of this happening. I also replaced the factory buffer with a heavy buffer, which lessened the recoil impulse dramatically.
Might I suggest EEZOX. Great lubricant - it's all I ever use inside and out. But be warned - the bees and yellow jackets love it too - but for different reasons. You might have your hands full trying to get your weapon away from them!
Maximum effective range is acquired by the ejected case rather than the bullet, it's amazing how violent the ejection is. It's a hell of a rifle , you can put rounds with good ammo and sights beyond 600+ Mts.
