- There were a plethora of thrilling Chicago Bulls vs New York Knicks basketball games during Michael Jordan's career. No other franchise took part in more thrilling contests against Air Jordan, than the New York Knicks. This game would be one of the many as these legendary competitors took fans on an absolute thrill-ride!
Scottie Pippen was still a very inconsistent player, at this stage in his career. Scottie also disappeared against the Detroit Pistons, in the Playoffs, for the first 3 years of his career. Scottie was still developing alongside of Michael Jordan & learning how to become a better pro, but there was frustration from some fans over his lack of consistency. So when Scottie Pippen or Horace Grant would have a big game, and help Michael Jordan, it was refreshing as a fan. Michael didn't routinely get much help.
But for Pippen, while it is true that Scottie Pippen was not a clutch basketball player, by trade... there were a few lost episodes where Robin helped land the final blow for Batman. Scottie makes the biggest play of his career, to this point, and one of his most clutch plays ever, during this epic thriller of a basketball game!
This New York Knicks team was stacked. Many modern Knicks fans, or 90's Knicks fans may be disappointed to find out that yes, indeed, you had Rod Strickland (not for long), and he played some fantastic basketball in this game at Chicago Stadium.
Old rival, and self professed "Jordan stopper", Gerald Wilkins would draw the assignment for most of this contest against Jordan... another fantastic battle between the 2 competitors indeed. The Knicks also featuerd former Bull, Charles Oakley, along with: Kenny "Sky" Walker, Eddie Lee Wilkins, Sidney Green, Trent Tucker, a young Johnny Newman, Mark Jackson, and the legend himself, Patrick Ewing. This game would also feature some very animated moments from Rick Pitino & Doug Collins.
Michael Jordan found his back up against the wall many times in this contest, and responded with his trademark competitive fire & will to win... with some quality help from a young Robin who got the last laugh on old teammate Charles Oakley.

That Knicks team and the Cavs were great regular season teams but that Bulls team was made 4 the playoffs and beyond despite being the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference.
Yeah, after that shot against the Cavs they played with so much confidence and even made Detroit work hard to advance
That's what people don't understand that the bulls worked their way too the championship
@@maddawgjax True That.
I don't want to spoil it but that was a good game.
Kind of crazy to be watching this, its a great game you're into it and then the end is a surprisingly familiar clip you've seen so many times ( but can't remember where) with Jordan and Grant missing and Pippen hits that one footer. Still got excited. That was fun, thx!
Yay Scottie 🎉
BUT! Pippin pulled that one out...his due.
22:05 As an old-time Syracuse fan, I can say that looks familiar.
How Jackson was playing more than Hot Rod Strickland was always mine boggling to me but I'm from Chicago n was a DePaul fan n the 70s 80s
I forgot Patino coached the Knicks they have a new coach every year
I didn't know Mark Jackson on NYK lol interesting
Mark Jackson was drafted in 1987-88 by the Knicks. Other players drafted that year. David Robinson, Scottie Pippen, Reggie Miller, Kevin Johnson, Reggie Lewis. Mark Jackson won rookie of the year. Help get New York to the playoffs. Mark Jackson was a all star in 1989. Was top ten in assists.
The move with 44 seconds left to tie the game by jordan leaving in the air from the circle around one guy in the air that was 6-9 and a scoop floater over a 7 footer who was one of the greatest shot blockers ever, to tie the game, if he misses, the bulls most likely lose, typifies, maybe more than all the buzzer beaters, the type of shot that shows that he was the most clutch player of all time - and he made that shot look easy, a shot that is almost impossible - that is not supposed to be that easy!
Funny because Oakley was on the bulls a season or 2 before this.
bulls shaked the hands on the court after the game?
And the Heels win my bad I mean the BULLS win 🏆
Your content has been so much better since you stopped caring about pro wrestling and focused on basketball. I was a pro wrestling fan too but I haven't watched since the late 2000's.
