Amazing tutorial. I had been playing this on a baritone ukelele, which has the same top four strings as the guitar. This has inspired me to buy a guitar, which at age 72 is optimistic, but heigh-ho, why not give it a go?
Just a beautiful song. Always loved The Beatles and McCartney songs. I was 11 years old when I read Paul used a Martin D-28 on a lot of his songs. Finally was able to afford that Martin at the ripe old age of 53. Anyway, speaking of ukuleles (see above comment).... I was visiting my oldest brother in California and we spent an afternoon playing Beatle songs together. Bro' playing ukelele, with me accompanying him on classical guitar. Discovered a really unique sound combination! Can't think of a better way to spend a lazy summer afternoon, thanks (again!) to The Beatles.

I haven't even learned the basics but I'm diving into this and trying to learn because I just love this song haha edit: after 2 years of playing on and off I am able to fingerpick and play songs like Tears in Heaven, Dust In The Wind and currently learning Black Bird. keep trying everyone you'll get there :) if you're lazy and unmotivated like me don't force yourself. just learn any song you want and sometimes take a break and learn something else so you don't worn your self out

Thank you for this. I was watching a video last night of Paul in his US tour where he played this song. I had forgotten how much I like it. It seems like every other tab or video I see if this song has it in F or in C, yet there is no question that Paul played it in E as you do.

The Beatles on several songs would slow down or speed up the tracks slightly on mixing and that accounts for some of the strange keys like in here, Revolution or Ob la Di. So in concerts he plays this in the key of E or Ob La Di in the key of A since that’s how he wrote and recorded them.
Somebody maybe already pointed this out but that augmented chord your talking about at 6:40 - pretty sure that's a diminished E chord. You play E G Bflat - two minor thirds stacked on top of each other... augmented would mean two major thirds.
Yeah, I was thinking about the sharp 4th which is an augmented 4th INTERVAL , but an augmented CHORD has a raised 5th, so you're right, the flat 3 and flat 5 makes a dim chord. My bad...the bummer is that once a RUclips video is published, you can't make corrections. I used to annotate corrections, but they took that away too.

They didnt put middle c in the middle of the keyboard for nothing....its the basis of standard notation and the purist chord in western music.... the only key with no sharps or flats....
Every key has a relative minor. A minor is the 6th CHORD of C major scale chord progression, which is different from C major scale, which has no sharps or flats
Amazing Lesson. I learned so much from this... and all this time I've thought all these changes were in F! That thought kept me away from this tune forever because it was so awkward and w/such fast changes.
Awesome tutorial. Love this song. Some of those subtler notes toward the end were overdubs, tough to play the guitar part and the overdubs live without making a mistake. Paul was mainly about the vocal and melody anyway. Would you consider "Little Martha" by Duanne Allman?

With the vinyl cued on a good system, it always sounded to me as if MACCA "sang" the bass line to this song. The bass notes have a sound not unlike blowing just right across the opening of a partially filled pint. Great choice for a lesson. Thanks!

I really like your tutorial and it sounds right and this was the version that i learned at first :) But im really pretty sure that Paul tuned down his guitar one whole step like in yesterday and played the Song in G G Em Am D7 and so on .... and on the last verse from "Oh i know i will" it's a D# and when you strum every single string from down to up you have with this chord the lick :) Try it and let me know :)

When I learn songs from friends they don't have floating tablature and chords, they play in front of you and you pick it up and try and copy and you ask them questions
