FILM DESCRIPTION:
Paleontologist Kate Lloyd (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has traveled to the desolate region for the expedition of her lifetime. Joining a Norwegian scientific team that has stumbled across an extraterrestrial ship buried in the ice, she discovers an organism that seems to have died in the crash eons ago. But it is about to wake up. When a simple experiment frees the alien from its frozen prison, Kate must join the crew's pilot, Carter (Joel Edgerton), to keep it from killing them off one at a time. And in this vast, intense land, a parasite that can mimic anything it touches will pit human against human as it tries to survive and flourish. The Thing serves as a prelude to John Carpenter's classic 1982 film of the same name. -

LOL at scene 0:24. Tormund Giantbane can really get freaked out by a space alien.
Well everyone can get freaked out by the thing
What's so ''lol'' about it though? It's just good acting.
That and it's a lot more actionized than the previous film-a lot of the film's running time actually got cut in favor of said action sequences. The film was also supposed to originally use animatronics like it's predecessor. Both are a result of executive meddling.
But is it well done? Short answer: No.
Long answer: the original had music, but suspenseful scenes were the ones with little to no music and used sparingly to build up the eeriness and put the viewer in a false state of calm then-*chest mouth opens* Rather than let the paranoia naturally build suspense there are musical cues and loud noises that offer little to nothing to be afraid of except confusion or artificial terror.
ninjawraith17 it was well maid. It just didn’t live up to Carpenter’s film.
I'd say it was medium-well.
"their inside" well no shit I thought it was the wind
they're
Mostly they hated it because it used CGI instead of practical effects, which was what made the old Thing good.
But doesn’t age well at all! The original is way too funny because of that now.
@@Sims64340you’re saying the original didn’t age well???
You obviously didn't watch this movie...Kate is the best character in this movie...she's a lot like Ripley in many ways.
cjcool91 Kate and Lars combined are pretty much the RJ Macready of this film.
Not all ''tough women in sci-fi/horror action flicks'' are Ripley-like...
Great scene
yes, Trond Espen Seim plays Edvard and Varg.
A movieclips title i never seen before
I must say, i'm laughing my head of when they speak norwegian x)
Very nice….
Yeah of course it looks great. Its just I was told that practical effects models were supposedly made for every monster in this movie, but then were scrapped for CGI, which is sort of disappointing.
yes
Who still watch this till 2020?
Lol Among us refference
Gtfo poser kid, this masterpiece was made way before Among Us, they took inspiration from this movie so this isn't a reference to the game.
Good morning!
good
Wow it very the thing
Hi reply

@@piex5500 lol
What happened to lars
It's interesting that people often gripe about the CGI effects not knowing that just about every effect in this film is a practical effect done with puppetry and animatronics. Even the effects that look CGI.
Actually, all the animatronics that were done were removed, mostly covered up with CGI in a rush to get the film out. Such BS. Hollywood sucks dick.
OMG OBI WAN KENOBI IN THIS MOVIE
JB ad?
Amazing: 6 years ago, the RUclips peoples were as whiny rants as today.
de har lars
It's not lars it's peter it's name please ❤
Jonas was a coward . If he stayed and helped Lars , maybe everything wouldn't have gone south so fast for these people . The two Americans , Derek and Carter , were human , as were Lars and Jonas . So they still had a chance to rest control back . But Jonas was too timid and didn't stay at his post .
Que Dios nos perdone.
Nicd
lol that`s norwegian
This film looks great & the monster spfx are awesome. But it coulda been alot more exciting & scary if the Thing had
1 Breathed fire like it had it's own built in flamethrower and started blasting the humans right back 'Shoot me with fire? Well two can play at this game!'
2 Continued to attack after being set on fire.
They basically just did a retread of the 1982 film which I gotta say kinda lacks excitement IMHO. Was hoping the 2011 film was going to improve upon the flaws of the '82 film.
What flaws? The 1982 version is pretty much a horror movie masterpiece. Sure it’s got a couple goofs but no flaws that needed improving

CGI is shit, overused and abused.
was the cgi in James Cameron's Avatar ok?
@@Barsabus The cgi in avatar was mixed with practical effets, the helicooter constructions and amp suits were real.
The thing is a dead god Apollo 🌹🌚👍 Rest in the good news 🌹 okay bye
🫣🌍😆✌️
Awful remake.. why dont you guys just watch John Carpenters? Nothing beats it
Why does she not once act how an actual female acts
Maaf ya allah hamba liat ini.
