It is time for another playthrough, and today, we are playing Wyrmspan from Stonemaier Games!
This is a new spin on Wingspan, this time designed by Connie Vogelmann (Apiary) and developed by Elizabeth Hargrave!

When one player in our group got Wingspan we where like “this is cool! But…birds”. As MtG players we love building engines, which is most of the appeal in Wingspan. Adding Dragons and stuff really puts it up there 🥰.

Nice playthrough.
This looks like you can achieve more combos than in Wingspan.
And I like the fact that you can get extra actions instead of getting 1 fewer every round.
I would love it if it were real animals instead of dragons, but it looks good 😊

Those Dragons look great!
Looks better than Wingspan and I love the art. Looks to have more depth to the strategy too which I am really looking forward to getting into. Love the coin/action mechanism. So clever and adds quite a tactical element. Great that they have eliminated dice too. Be interesting to see what the retail price point settles at as Expeditions seems to pricey to me in the UK

They're magic. Anything goes!
The designer talked about this in her AMA on BGG. Basically, a lot of lore depicts dragons as warm-blooded, and nature is odd (platypus lay eggs, some snakes give birth to live young). Wyrmspan is an alternate world where dragons have filled the ecological niches of other animals - so they're sort of filling the slots that make different varieties similar to birds or reptiles or mammals.
@@HexStarDragon yeah... That's a stretch. I mean it doesn't matter in the long run, it's just that's not how nature works.

Hey Guys, great playthrough as always. Just a little concern: Maybe it's just me, but the video of the playing area seems to be a bit darker than usual. The shots of you two seem perfectly fine, lightning wise.

No details on cards,, no scientific names,no regions, some info about the bird. Reminds me of seeing the mechs in Scythe thinking of a war game hahahah.
this is just an okay game
I can understand people missing those things from Wingspan, but it was never a thing I looked at, hehe! 😅 There is a nice booklet featuring info on all the Wyrms for those who are interested!
@@BoardGamingRamblings wingspan got so popular because it was unique back then,, i think they thought about making this game when Flamecraft was hot they tried to ride the train but where is Flamecraft now? 360? i think it was top 100 last year? 2 years? that game was overhyped to the max! on this one they reverse it instead of cutesy art they go for a more serious realistic style,it seems like they want to market it as a next step to wingspan but in reality its a light game.
Dragon themed games for me is generic now, this is like Expedition and Farshore just trying to ride but fell flat. Man i sound like a hater but i hope im wrong. XD
@@TpDgreat Take your time to check out the game if you're curious, and you can make a decision for yourself. The first print run is 100,000 copies, so depending on your situation, you'll likely have a chance to play or check out more details on it, as it'll probably show up in friends' hands and at various events. The publisher is generally committed to reprinting their games in perpetuity as long as they continue to sell. So if, say, two years from now a friend brings it over, and you end up liking it, you'll be able to find a copy and there aren't any KS exclusives or anything of that sort.
@@HexStarDragon you might be right because when WSpan was new and so popular i watched so many gameplays and reviews and i still in doubt if i would like it? but when i played it. I was totally surprised it was Fun and became one of my favorite game! :)
But still i feel like this new game Wyrmspan is like the next Expedition and Farshore just trying to ride its predecessor.
