When I play this game we put the planets face down on the board in the 11 spots before we start the game and put the yellow bonus on top. It just saves some tablespace.
Awesome playthrough. I haven't kept up with new games in the last few years, so I hadn't even heard of this game until a week ago. I went to a friends house and we started playing it. About 10 minutes in, I told him I think this is gonna be a top 10 game for me. After finishing, it may even be my current favorite game. It's so simple, but there's so much to do.
Just a note: When Monique built the Apiculture Development tile, she was allowed to reserve any combination of Farm, Recruit, or Development tiles (it sounded like she may have thought it had to be one of each). Interesting to hear the games have felt long to you! Feedback from other reviewers thought the game was quick, with several wishing the game were longer. I'm curious what factors contributes to that difference in experience.
Also played our first 3 player game tonight. Took some time to get the momentum going with a few stops to check a rule or two. We finished in 1 hour 40 min. I felt it was a good period of time and it did not over stay its welcome. 😊 Overall found the theme very interesting and enjoyed it a lot. Looking forward to the next play.
Your play through outshines every other channel I've seen play this game. You clearly state what your actions are and zoom in to show the tiles/cards. It feels so much more produced to benefit the watcher instead of the player. Thank you for this!
Interesting. I've only played 2 player so far, but we've found the games go very quickly, and are ending faster than we'd maybe even like them to. I've also found we are doing very few retrieve turns over the course of the game. I guess it depends a lot on how you're playing.
Guys! this was amazing! thanks for sharing! Yesterday I played this game and it was a great experience, I can't wait to share it with the board game community EN & ES audience :) I hope to do as good as you did it. regards!
I preordered this game and received it a week ago, so I appreciate the playthrough. I'm going to tackle the solo mode and see how that goes. Thank you for your dedication!
Good game! Wow, what a finish. Thanks for showcasing Apiary. I'm in the mode of playing the games I have (and the KS games from a year ago that are arriving). Otherwise I might pick this one up.
Played it twice with 5 and we noticed it ends faster than expected. The second time I knew it would end fast so I had one seed, 2 carvings, and my mat was full with no frames. Now when I teach it I tell people what to expect and time. I really like it so far and want to try different player counts
Hi, really nice playthrough - just a question: the rules state that you check hive capacity only when retrieving workers So when you get stuff, but dont have place for it on the hive, you still keep it, and can use it
The rules are that you check capacity at the end of your turn - not only when you retrieve. So anything you gain during your turn (or during other player's turn) you can still collect, rearrange, and spend, until your turn ends.
Great playthrough as always! In regards to game length - I've played about 5 two-player games, and they are clocking in right about an hour, so that's very interesting it has been running longer for you all. We usually play on the quicker side though. Anyways, again, fantastic job!
I know you really like Wingspan. Now that you have played Apiary and you have heard of the Wyrmspan announcement, which one(s) do you prefer? Do you still like Wingspan more (with which expansions?), and what are your hopes for Wyrmspan? Is Apiary better? Do you think Wyrmspan has the potential to be better than Wingspan?
I've seen a few playthroughs of this game and got to try it at Essen and I have to say that while I like it and it seems fun, it's not impressive enough for me to actually get it. The pacing does seem off to me, somehow both too long and too short.
I absolutely love your videos. All the games I ever thought were to complicated for me you made accessible. I do have some constructive feedback. I understand you are content creators and need to make money. This video made me watch commercials for longer than any video I have ever watched on RUclips. I am never waiting 45 seconds for one of your videos to play again. It was incredibly frustrating. Maybe that is a RUclips thing. Perhaps you can pass that feedback on to them.
Yeah about 2 months ago RUclips took away creators ability to choose the type of ads we allow on our channel (skippable vs non skippable). So now the only control is YES or NO to ads. Sorry for the hassles.
Idk about this game. I like Stonemeir games (sorry I don't remember how to spell it) in general. But this game didn't appeal to me as much. Oh well, thanks for the vid :)
This might be nitpicking, but every time your hands go into shot the entire board flickers because of your autofocus I think. It might be fine on a small screen, but it's really annoying to watch on a tv 😊 love the playthroughs though. Edit: it is in fact not noticable on mobile.
Hi, we actually don't see the flicker on our Macs or in the editing software. If anyone else sees a flicker, can you please chime in since we wouldn't know how to fix it (we don't use autofocus). Thanks! 😀
Have played only 3 player games, 3 times now, and each game has been a nice, brisk 70mins game, lasting just over an hour. Really enjoy the finding combos and trying to break them, and the puzzle of your hive with your ASymmetrical power. Would agree in 3 player there is more bumping. I would say the game end does creep up on you if not paying attention for it, but you can see it coming by checking how many hibernation slots are left and for my playgroup at least we loved that tense tension near the end of trying to work out how many actions you have left and what to prioritise to try and get most points. Really enjoying the game. Personally a 9/10 for meatm (with caveat of being at 3P +). Thank you for this video and review; I watched in interest as haven’t played 2p yet.
Thanks for the playthrough! It's funny that you and I both thought the game could have ended several rounds before it did. Do you think you were trying to maximize your points rather than either of you shutting it down while you (thought you) were ahead?
Funny if you didn't score the queen's favor that was forgotten about the game would have ended in a tie. Game seems like a ton of fun, especially at 3+
Thank you for this playthrough. So funny to see Naveen grumbling so much towards the end and then the final outcome!
HAHA, he totally forgot how final scoring worked lol!!!
The enthusiasm of your opening wave always makes me smile!
When I play this game we put the planets face down on the board in the 11 spots before we start the game and put the yellow bonus on top. It just saves some tablespace.
Thank you, again, for taking the time to play Apiary and share your thoughts!
😀💓
Got this for Christmas so seriously appreciate you both doing a great job of narrating while playing. Thx!

Have you played the game more ofter? How do you like it long term? 😊

Got this game lately and as always you are my first address to go have a look how it's played. Was a pleasure to watch your whole playthrough!

really fun to watch. thank you!
I've had my copy for a couple weeks now, still unplayed, and I'm itching to get it to the table! Thanks for the video!

Naveen! Rocking the LedZep Swan Song T-shirt!
Your playthroughs are always so well made!!! I have a question if you have the time to answer: which do you prefer apiary or ceres?
Thanks!
Just got a chance to play this, fun game, I will note that I won handily in our 5 player game without building a single farm.
Any other euro recommendations that use a score board and look this clean? Seems like this game is almost what I'm looking for but not quite.
Firts thx for the playthrough. At the end at scoring, shouldn't you get points printed on each hex also or did i missed it?
Hi guys! Are you considering making a video about dune imperium uprising? Cheers
Have only played 2 player. About 6 times. It takes us about an hour per play now. It does end really fast though.

What do you mean by a quicker side?
@@play-it-or-not Sorry I meant to say we generally play quicker than the normal gamer in my experiences.

Don’t know the price in the US but in Europe it’s 90euros and that’s a bit too much for me to justify
969 Regan Ferry
the bee theme seems cool. The space theme seems tacked on. Would like to see this game without the space theme personally

Yeah! I apologize to you. I realize now it is happening to almost all videos. I apparently have only been watching yours lately.
Idk about this game. I like Stonemeir games (sorry I don't remember how to spell it) in general. But this game didn't appeal to me as much. Oh well, thanks for the vid :)
This game would have sold a billion copies had they made the theme about Bees instead of Space Bees

Watching on TV. No flicker here either 😅
@@BeforeYouPlay it's weird. It's on none of your other video's or on other channels. Might have been a bit of a Fluke. I'll check again later. ;)
@@BeforeYouPlayI watched on a TV and can confirm no flicker
Seems like another dud to me. Not a big fan of SM Games other than Wingspan hence I might be biased. Thanks for the review
Exactly
Swrious dud vibes on this one
It's a better game than Expeditions. I wouldn't say Apiary was a dud but the end game drama is kinda wierd.
Same balance problem as Wingspan. There’s just never a time you are going to take certain tiles.
What is the meaning of dud game?
It looks alright, the art does literally nothing for me though.
Awesome video, I'm currently learning the game myself, so that I'll be able to teach the German version of it at Essen SPIEL this year :)
Nice review guys. Btw you should really review Hegemony! 😍😍
guys out of curiosity... what mic and camera are you using to shoot this?

When you drew Zingi, you had a strength of 4 so you should have taken the benefit and created the dance....
Most likely made a boo boo
Thanks for the playthrough! It's funny that you and I both thought the game could have ended several rounds before it did. Do you think you were trying to maximize your points rather than either of you shutting it down while you (thought you) were ahead?
Man if I ever play a 2p game with Naveen and we use Rock Paper Scissors to go first...I know which one I'll be choosing.
Funny if you didn't score the queen's favor that was forgotten about the game would have ended in a tie. Game seems like a ton of fun, especially at 3+
I wonder what the purpose of -1 strength to your bee would be? (Seed card #5)
Superb playthrough and this has really helped me learn the game for a future teach.
loved that game ! i cant wait for you guys play dune imperium uprising
Do you have a video that shows your overhead camera set-up?
Yay, thank you for sharing!
