About 12 years ago i devised a pattern for a similar hoodie scarf. Thought it was such a great idea. Included a pocket on the end of the scarf. Made about 35 to sell at a college craft fair in Minnesota. I think we sold one! I was so surprised they werent a better seller. Wasnt tryingto make money off them, just thought they were a great idea. Shows how fashion is very persnickety
@Merbak8 so true especially at craft fairs. We found that when someone would stop and try them on, others would stop to watch and then it would start a bit of a buying spree. One year we would be sewing into the wee hours every night to make enough to sell the next day. It was crazy! We always try to have a variety of hat styles to help create interest and a bit of the "booth is full of people trying on hats" crowd affect! Thanks so much for your comment! Cheers, Tori
Greetings from Canada! Welcome to the channel and I am so glad to meet on the internet! We have been just missing our first snowfall but I have a feeling it is coming this week. WE are just north of Watertown, NY across the border. Cheers, Tori
Thank you so much I have been thinking about making a scarf into a hood. Who knew it was already invented. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with the world. Merry Christmas 🎄
I made 2 of these, one for my daughter and son. They are so nice. I am wondering if the paid pattern with the other sizes will be available soon? I checked Etsy and your website and couldn’t find it on either. The ones I made for my children were a little too large and would like to try the smaller size. Thanks for the generous free pattern!
Hi Lily...I hope to have it ready by the 26th...there is a part two with a neck warmer bottom rather than a scarf! The extra pattern piece is digitized but I have to finish writing the instructions! Thanks so much, Tori
@@madcaphats Thanks so much! I will look forward to that. Thank you for your generosity with sharing these patterns. I’ve never seen such beautiful hat patterns before!
It is a small piece of fur too, very little waste and if you space them right you can pom poms from the off cuts! Fur means you can charge more for this too if you decide to make them and sell them at craft fairs or online! Thanks so much for your comment and for watching! Tori
Hi Karen ... Late today or Monday morning Karen ... I am just testing the projector files now which we are going to start to add for folks who cut with a projector. Exciting to learn how to do this. Tori
Merry Christmas and many thanks for all your wonderful patterns. Going to make this one for myself. May the New Year bring many bucket's wishes come true.
I love hats with attaches scarves. I keep misplacing my scarves 🙂 Thank you for a lovely, easy to sew pattern. Where do we locate the information on how much of each fabric to use?
Yes I use a straight stitch. My patterns are designed for straight stitch however, fabric is different everywhere as are machines. This is a pretty flexible pattern so use whatever helps you get through the layers. Finish the raw edges, like I do in the video, with a serger. Cheers, Tori
Hi Melanie ... the link is on this page on our website. Just hover over the options under the two pictures ... the sentence should turn to blue and then click and you will get to where you want to go. There are a few choices so the free patterns are the first two choices. madcaphats.com/pages/the-hoodie-scarf-winter-sewing-business-winner
Hi Tori - the Amazon link to the magnetic seam guide doesn't appear to be working. Is there another seam guide you would suggest or are they all alike?
Hi Gale ... the magnet may be sold out as is the way from time to time. That link is a heavy duty one but you can use any of the magnetic seam guides. If you are choosing a lighter weight one, you may need to put another one behind it to hold it from moving. I am going to try to buy a box of them and have them as prizes for the video commenters in 2024. Wish me luck with that!
@@madcaphats I wish you luck in all you do. Right now I am using a couple of magnets I bought at the local hardware store. They are OK but have a tendency to slip now and then. I will see what Amazon has to offer. Thanks for your help.

This reminds me of the winter hats we made from a scarf about 60 years ago. Good ideas may go out of style but they always come back.
I love this Gale!!! Tori
What an amazing tutorial. You have great instructions. I immediately subscribed to your channel. Thank you😊
Thank you so much! Glad you found the instructions easy to follow! Cheers, Tori

Beginner level is good for me. Mad for Mad Cap Hats.
Yes! I have a few in a row for beginners then a few tough ones! Thanks Gale, Tori
Beautiful

Thank you Helen! Tori
Love this. Can I ask, when you fold the scarf over to finish it off, why do you only sew about 9" instead of all the way across? Just curious
I like to keep the scarf fuller near the face so that it opens wider easily around the face. Thanks for this question! I forgot to say that! Tori
First comment!! Again lol! That is three contest entries right?
Right on!! Three videos, three comments, three chances to win ... there will be more coming up this month too! Thanks so much for watching, Tori

I made de my third Hoodie Scarf tonight.
I finally got it right.
Are you sewing with a straight stitch? I usually use a zigzag or serger on stretch material.

@@madcaphats Awesome. My SS machine is much faster and I prefer to us it. I just worried about popped stitches. I'll give it a go.
I can't find the pattern 😢 can someone send me the link plz. Thanks! ❤
