Same with me to man! My friend got EMG ZW pickups and first time when i played with them i was like ''Whoa man... This is so clean and nice and HEAVY!''. Now i try to do everything so i can get those emg pickups!

I like the sound of blackouts a little better, they both are great pickups for metal, but emg also makes pretty awesome non active pickups

EMG are great Pickups.
But my Peavey Wolfgang has EVH Pickups that are just as strong and PASSIVE
he also has a custom jaguar with emgs
I am assuming that is his way of showing great respect.
@Mret1 his student puts emg's in a jaguar. i think its a good idea, emg's are really good for distortion but they break up easily on clean. the zakk wylde signature emg's are REALLY nice. i have them in my Dime Black Bolt, and my Les paul. emg makes a good single coil pickup, once again for the kind of music you play.

Jim root has had fender custom shop make him a Jaguar to the same spec as his strat's and tele's there are video's of his rig and him showing this off.

Have also read that increasing the power to 18V by running 2 batteries will not give you more volume etc it gives you more clean headroom.
Kind of like difference between a 50w and a 150w amp.
It wont distort and hold its clarity a lot better.
What I was gettin at was that on a VU meter comparison my Wolfgang left my mates EMG's for dead in terms of output
@Nickhead87 Its all about personal preference mate.for example I bought a schecter Hellraiser(bout one year ago one of my favourite guitars) And it had emg's 81 and 85 to be exact I hated it the 85 was ok.the 81 altough gain intensive was thin and sterile too dead if you will.But i swapped out the pickups with the bareknuckle warpigs set(ceramic bridge) and it was an instant meltdown the tone was unbelievable but i also added a afterburner lol.people called me nuts and split coils. :D.

@jayzakk72 its not about strength etc, theres signal clarity , input - output balance, passives have more CLARITY and emgs tend to have a more sterile tone, problem solved :)

i agree that emgs are awesome pick ups and get some of the best sound but the 9volt battery ruins it id rather have a set of inactive seymour duncans but im not hating on emgs i love the sound

You only really notice the benefit of active pickups through a valve amp anyway, through solid state its impossible to notice the difference and true benefit through a solid state amp :) the way valves work with te tone is completely different full stop lol

His voice is muffled and hard to understand. They are in a RECORDING STUDIO. Don't you think they could have done a better job with the sound? Anyway, Zakk is da man. His skills are epic.

Ok sorry... EMG's arn't for metal and god like tone's some emg's for strats and tele's have very good cleans and twang to them plus noiseless so they can be good for blue's and country. It's not really a law there are some rule's you can choose to obey when it come's to pick up's it all depends on what you want if you want take emg's bareknuckle or dimarzio whatever thinking outside the box's become's difficult when you have put yourself in a box's.
@Red93100 he used to be quite amazing at what he did, but i will say that now hes not that great. he thinks hes on top of the world. and he is. he can do whatever the hell he wants to and nobody will tell him otherwise because hes the considers himself "the emperor" as he once said, "the emperor has spoken, now shut the F*ck up". i think once dime died he lost it. look at his pride and glory stuff and also book of shadows. thats good shit

way to disregard my comment that it "just messes with everything i've been raised with" i was raised to have a set of pickups that compliment the guitar's make of wood and resonance. Not everything needs a battery powered humbucker in it to sound "godly"

I can't think of anyone who is known for having good tone that uses EMG's. It's almost entirely modern metal guitarists, some of whom get great modern metal tones, but that's all they want is a constant compressed high output tone. Zakk Wylde is the only guitarist I can think of that some consider a "guitar god" that uses EMG's, but his tone is very meh. It's not terrible but it's just as much gain as possible and nonstop squeals and fast scales. Perfect for EMG's. Bastardizes the LP's tone tho
But, EMG is not interviewing you.
If you have a shit guitar, EMG's will make it sound better. If you have an outstanding guitar, like a Custom Suhr, EMG's will make it sound marginally better than that shit guitar. They make everything sound very similar. Tons of output and compression and they do sound big and punchy, but they're pretty much only good for compressed high gain. You'll hardly be able to tell the difference between a guitar with crap construction and a guitar with high end tone woods. And you can forget dynamics.
You play nothing but pentatonics and pitch harmonics. Stop. The. Presses.
