An installer to come out to my middle of nowhere property and reset my garage was going to cost hundreds. This video cost me nothing. I owe you. Thanks!
This was super helpful. I had two issues where the garage would open on it’s own unless you press the wall unit or the remote to just stop it and it only opened to about 6.25 feet so barely enough clearance for my height. I was able to fix both issues. Only thing different I noticed was that I had to press the square button twice after moving the door to the right spot to finalize or set the limit (pressing just once made the two light go solid red. But once I figured out to press the square button twice it saved and set the limits. Thanks so much!
Thanks! I finally reprogrammed my opener after it forgot the PIN, when the battery died. The only problem I had was that the LED light was blue and never blinked. I had to let go, press it again, then I saw the purple light blink. Regardless, your video helped and was short and concise. Thanks so much!!!
For some reason my garage door opener just reprogrammed itself over time and it wouldn't go up all the way and it would go to low that I had to stop it before it ruined itself. I had to do the steps twice but they worked like a charm. Thanks a bunch for the video! I didn't even look at the manual just straight up followed the simple steps which actually start around 1:30 minutes in.
I love this tutorial. It's much better than, "YO WHAT UP RUclips FAM, IT'S YA BOY SMACKMAW HERE COMIN' AT YA WITH ANOTHER VIDEO. WE GONNA DO DIS ONE TOGETHER BUT 1ST I'M GONNA TALK ABOUT NONESENSE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS TUTORIAL FOR 10 MINUTES BEFORE I GET TO SHOWING YOU WHAT YOU CAME TO SEE!🤨😑
What genie has failed to tell you is if you don't install the sensors you must hold the wall switch down until the door closes. Without the sensors installed the door stops and returns to the up position once you release the button. Nowhere does the manual tell you this, only by calling them do you find this out. Many hairs lost until we called.
Why does my opener drop the travel limits at random times? I hit the remote and the door stops 4" above the ground. I usually have to use this video 2-3x per year.
They are not ads. They are safety warnings. The garage door is the largest moving object in your home. Safety is a key part of installation, and travel limits
@@serrarm7 unplug the motor for awhile then plug back in (this resets motor). Then replace the sensor that's flashing. Set the limits and then it should be good. It worked for me.
I don't think the force control gives a very fine adjustment. I used a laser flashlight on the floor pointing upwards to give the upper limit and after going too far (the door was being pulled after it was in the open position), doing the force control procedure changed nothing. Same for when I want too far going downward (and the belt was hanging because it was pushing down on the door further than it should. After a couple tries if very carefully getting it right, both extreme positions still had some play, which told me the door wasn't being forced in either direction, which should help the belt life by not keeping it stretched all day.
Doesn't actually work this way on my model. You have to enter a programming mode first. Same faulty directions in the manual. Would be nice if they specified which models this was for.
What if the led light are red ? I set the down limit and then when I tried to set the up limit the led are red and nothing happens the door is stuck in the down position.
I’m experiencing this right now as well as well as something else. The only thing I didn’t use was the safety sensors because the instructions said they were optional. I push and hold the down button…it enters the program mode. The instructions say to “push and hold the down button until it touches the floor.” When I push and hold it, it moves about 6 inches and stops. I have to release and press again to get it to move another 6 inches. Then when I finally get it to where it needs to stop, I press the square button to secure the settings. The lights turn steady blue then steady red. It does this after setting both up and down limits. The steady red means “limits not set properly. Return to pages whatever and do the steps again.” I’m telling you what, I’m pretty pissed about dropping $325 on this “smart opener.” I guess I’ll install the “optional” sensors and see if it starts working.
Sorry to hear of the trouble you are experiencing with your garage door opener. We can help troubleshoot the issue, you can contact Genie customer service at 1-800-354-3643 for assistance.
The excess power comes from the solar panels, not the batteries. When you have a solar system, the grid is your backup with credits you accumulate with additional power generated by the panels. Batteries add a high cost to your solar system.
You shouldn't be using the down arrow button to close the door, only on intiital set-up, if its making this noise and not closing any other way, it could be that there is a door related issue. We recommend calling 1-800-354-3643 for assistance.
Following the instruction I reset the down limit. Not realizing I need also reset the UP limit, I used the remote to open the garage door - it went to far that the carriage touched the control unit. Now the unit has two blinking red lights and won't respond. I tried to power off, set UP limit, etc, with no prevail. I disengage the door and brought it down. There are no other signs of sensor issue, and no obvious sign of damage either. How do I clear the error code?
My system won’t respond to this set up for down Limits, it’s set for 1 inch, could this be for molding which I just removed? I’m just adding another 1 in molding with rubber neck
Hi Paul, if there has been adjustments made to the door's weather seal, then the door's limit switches may need to be re-adjusted. Please email us at genie_info@geniecompany.com for more assistance.
Please find your owners manual by the model on our customer support portal. This will have a section on programming the force for your garage door opener. support.geniecompany.com/
@@GenieCompany I have the manual instructions it says “press and hold up and down keys at the same time” and the light color will change to red. Guess what ? It doesn’t work. (Genie 7035 3/4)
Hi, if both of the red lights are on and steady then the limits are not set properly. Can you confirm if there is one or two red lights, and if either are flashing?
If it becomes deprogrammed, this means you have most likely re-cleared the memory after reprogramming, Skip the step of pressing and holding the prog/set down for 30 seconds, and restart over.
I have an old model 2562. Heads up, these instructions WILL NOT WORK! Press and hold the PROGRAM button until you get the long LED light. THEN press the DOWN button. From there, follow the instructions. I was losing my mind, about to replace the whole thing. Just started mashing buttons out of frustration. So at least on model 2562, start by pressing the PROGRAM button, then follow the rest of the steps. Ducking under the door and trying to time it to stop with the remote has been annoying me for like a year.
I don’t understand how this adjusts force. This is setting the sensor limits . HS nothing to do with how to increase force if the door is raising really slowly
Force sets itself when the limits are programmed. The correct amount of force is established when setting the limits. Please reach out at 1-800-354-3643 for further assistance
Mine too, but now it's losing its limits every couple days. Called tech support and they said its an optical encoder RPM sensor. I guess the bad sensor is not telling the controller when or how far the motor is traveling so it loses position measurement on the door.
I had to clear my remotes from my silentmax 1000 revolution series model 3042 Serial number 112374110637HD Now the opener is stuck with two solid red leds and when I hold the close/down button it will not turn blue. It just stays red and will not do anything. I’m really struggling… Any help would be appreciated!
ATTENTION Garage door installers: This video is outdated. Check the model before attempting to install your door. Our GENIE opener requires the installer to program the unit using a different sequence of button-presses.
If the door is coming back up before reaching the fully closed position, we recommend checking the safety beams, and also making sure the door isn't causing this to happen. We would be happy to provide you further assistance at 1-800-354-3643.
I don’t recommend this series of opener to even my worst enemy. I have to reprogram my opener every 30 days at minimum. It’s such a hassle and frustration
My experience with this model isn't as bad as yours, but I agree and wouldn't recommend it either. It's just delicate. Sensors got just a tiny bit wet and stopped working for a few days. You'd think that something that is installed basically outside, that may possibly be exposed to different types of weather would be more water resistant. I myself have had to reprogram it a few times too, due to surges. We have power surges somewhat often here. It also seems to struggle to open my door. I'd rather have a loud opener that works well than a quiet one that works poorly.
Not helpful at all. Your directions do not prompt any of the features that are supposed to happen. A flashing red or purple only light up. Is there something wrong with my unit?
Horrible video. Didn’t explain lots of things and you couldn’t tell what he was doing exactly in the video. He never did show how to set the up-and-down limits after the door stopped the first time. 🙄
