This is probably the best podcast I’ve seen on long range shooting. Great information!

Excellent podcast. I’ve already sent it to every long range shooter/hunter/competitor that I know. Novice or experienced, ton of value in this video.

Good advice on getting a 6.5 Creedmoor. My first rifle was a 308 and I honestly wish I'd gotten 6.5 Creedmoor instead. In my experience, 6.5 Creedmoor is simply a more inherently accurate cartridge (by a considerable margin), it's less affected by wind, it has less recoil (not that 308 has a lot of recoil), it is flatter shooting, and it has better external ballistics. If you don't handload perhaps 308 would be a better choice because there is a larger selection of ammo in 308 and ammo is generally cheaper. Also, if you shoot a lot, your 308 barrel will last longer. Other than that, I think the difference in muzzle energy between 308 and 6.5 Creedmoor is pretty negligible.

    Kevin,
Could you do a break down of the Tremor 3 reticle and how to use it with different calibers? There are a few videos out there but it seems like there are a lot of features I still don't understand. Thanks!

Before I knew how to shoot a rifle I started to learn on a lightweight Savage 308 hunting rifle that shot good but I could never really spot myself out in the sandy fields I used to shoot because it would just kick me off target soo much, eventually I sold it and got a Savage 12fv in 223 for ammo cost and variety, learned ALLOT of fundamentals on that rifle and saved all my brass for it because I knew one day I would get all of the equipment I needed to reload, fast forward 10 years and I still havent started reloading but was in the market to shoot out at some distance and in those 10 years Id been soo occupied with learning how to shoot with my 223 and rimfires that I was soo out of the loop on newer cartridges that I had no idea 6.5Creed even existed! I find myself wanting a .260 because I had heard and read that the .264/6.5mm bullet/cartridges were very accurate and not as hard on barrels as the .243/6mm cartridges, so Im in the market for a Savage .260 with a heavy varmint type barrel and just cant seem to find one so I start thinking about another 308 in a heavy barrel. Holy heck the vast amount of diff loadings on the shelf in 6.5creed compared to 308 around me was astonishing! It made it the better/easier choice to go with 6.5creed then, now that Ive finally gotten to reload in the most expensive time possible I look at all the diff cartridges that are out there and I dont even care if one is "better" than the other more efficient or inherently more accurate I just want to load and shoot them all 😂 I also remember I would watch The Art Of The Precision Rifle atleast once a month 😊

The part about using an illuminated reticle to get the correct diopter setting is really cool. I can’t wait to go try it at home.
What are your/their thoughts on a .223 rifle for learning? And which projectile would be a recommendation for that?
