Yes it was! I loved it.
As someone raised in church….this video is sadly accurate. I had a pastor when I was younger who ended up being a jewel smuggler. He “preached” in Colombia. He was also abusing his wife, cheating on her and drunk driving 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️. Insanity.
The best part is that Tobias released this on eastern day 🤣
The video for original Genesis song was quite funny. This one is definitely more "straight to the point" if you know what I mean.
Ghost wanted there to be absolutely no confusion as to what was meant by the song lol
Watch this video again and you will find Tobias nod to the original video. On the cassete you see the letters GTV. The same letters can easily be found in the original Genesis video. Just one little thing. One more is that the radio frequency on the stereo is a reference to a psalm and not a radio station.
Genesis wasn't hiding their point either. The difference is bands cared about MTV rotation back then, so they would only push things so far.
You should definitely check out more Ghost. The music video for He Is falls in this vein but everything they do is great imo

You're the first person who has noticed the coat hanger in their reaction to this song. That's sacrilegious in the sense that it references abortion, against Catholic church doctrine.

"Just do as I say, not as I do" I absolutely loathe groups or people this hypocritical. Always have.
As a Christian, I thoroughly detest the damage that the showbiz televangelists have done to the faith. I can't think of a single one who was wholly sincere and free of controversy. The whole lot has done a tremendous disservice to the faith at-large. Which is why I have no problem with bands like Ghost criticizing and parodying the Church- there's much to answer for in my opinion. They deserve just as much- nay, more -oversight than world governments do.
And it isn't a one man race either. Apparently there's a secret wager between the charismatic Protestant evangelists in America and Europe's Catholic priests to see who can undermine the faith's credibility the fastest. It really is quite sickening how much things have devolved over the past 50 years alone.
Oddly enough, it also only stands as more evidence that Christianity really is the only true religion God has established on Earth. Why, you ask? Because no institution this incompetent that was totally fabricated purely for civilizational control, as the cynics would have you believe, could possibly last for 2,000+ years! It's unrivaled inadequacies for all these centuries demonstrates that God is the only one holding it all together- because us humans damn sure aren't!
