@@mitchellc4 You misunderstand the person/essence distinction. No trinitarian claims that God is three gods, only that He is three persons. In John 8:58 and 10:30 Jesus does claim to be God, and throughout the rest of the New Testament everyone else calls Jesus God too. You may try to argue that they didn't mean that, but it's kind of hard to maintain that argument when we know that the disciples of the apostles, including Ignatius and Clement, explicitly say that Jesus was God. They got their information directly from the men who wrote the New Testament. Your argument is bad on biblical and historical grounds.
@@mitchellc4 If you think that Jesus never claimed to be God, then you must have read the gospel of John (if you've read it) with a veil over your understanding. There are plenty of places in John's gospel that Jesus made it abundantly clear that He is God. (Which is why the Jews tried to kill Him so many times!) Just carefully read the first 3 verses of chapter one. Note in v3 that nothing in all creation was made without Christ (the Word), which means of course that Christ Himself is an uncreated being and as such must be eternally existent. Right from chapter one, - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," it couldn't be made any clearer. Also see John 8:58 where Jesus took the name for God and applied it to Himself. When Jesus appeared to Thomas after His resurrection and showed him the wounds in hands and side, Thomas said, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus did not say to him, "Oh no, Thomas, I'm not God, you've got it wrong." (See John 20:24-31) When other people are recorded in the gospels as falling at Jesus' feet in worship, Jesus never tells them, "Oh no, don't worship Me!" (See John 9:38) One God? Absolutely! Three distinct personalities? Absolutely! Just because the human mind is not capable of grasping the concept, doesn't mean it can't be so. It just goes to demonstrates the limitations of the human mind! We are not God! 😆

I am not a Calvinist but I love listening to these brothers. They are great teachers and it was awesome seeing RC so vulnerable. He truly had a heart for God.

Years of living life in Christ and reflection upon God's Goodness , Love and Holiness has revealed these truths to these men ...We are blessed and encouraged by the thoughts of these men for the sanctity in our own lives and the Love and appreciation towards God who Loved us enough to give and sacrifice His Only Son the Lord Jesus Christ ..

Praise the Lord God for raising such wonderful minds such as Dr. RC Sproul and Dr. John Piper. I follow and read and have both of their DVDs. I particularly like Dr. John Piper’s webpage - ‘Ask Pastor John’ in the Desiring God website, where you get a chance to ask a question and hear the answer on the channel and on RUclips.
Its so wonderful to hear these words from these brothers. When I read the word of God, one it is so alive, even the names in the genealogies, second the word of God taste like warm bread from the oven smothered butter and honey, and thirdly it takes me into His blessed presence where I am inthralled with HIm.

He said Trumps anger and temper was just as violent as a liberals blood thirst for abortion. Who in their right Christian mind could say such a thing. He absolutely did not walk the walk when it counted the most and tons of his parishioners took comfort in voting for pro abortion politicians because Piper’s attempt at a lukewarm non response ended up protecting abortionists. His “yes it’s wrong BUT..” stance shows him to be a coward. I don’t care how “reformed” he is, he lets abortion continue in order to keep his tax exempt status and his parishioners in his pews. Sproul preached against voting for any candidate who supports abortion, even dog catcher. Our churches are WAY too beholden to the state’s tax-exemption threats.. let ‘em tax, let us not pay, let ‘em arrest us.. Gods Word HAS to be not only preached, but APPLIED to our lives.

Question: Jesus said if anyone would come after me (be my disciple) let them deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow me. Regarding Christian Hedonism, is denying oneself something that make us happy? Is the purpose of denying ourselves to make us happy or perhaps is it to humble us or our pride and sinfulness as we submit to the Lordship of Christ and find fellowship and Peace in God?

@@mitchellc4 You misunderstand the person/essence distinction. No trinitarian claims that God is three gods, only that He is three persons. In John 8:58 and 10:30 Jesus does claim to be God, and throughout the rest of the New Testament everyone else calls Jesus God too. You may try to argue that they didn't mean that, but it's kind of hard to maintain that argument when we know that the disciples of the apostles, including Ignatius and Clement, explicitly say that Jesus was God. They got their information directly from the men who wrote the New Testament. Your argument is bad on biblical and historical grounds.
@@mitchellc4 If you think that Jesus never claimed to be God, then you must have read the gospel of John (if you've read it) with a veil over your understanding. There are plenty of places in John's gospel that Jesus made it abundantly clear that He is God. (Which is why the Jews tried to kill Him so many times!)
Just carefully read the first 3 verses of chapter one. Note in v3 that nothing in all creation was made without Christ (the Word), which means of course that Christ Himself is an uncreated being and as such must be eternally existent.
Right from chapter one, - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God," it couldn't be made any clearer.
Also see John 8:58 where Jesus took the name for God and applied it to Himself.
When Jesus appeared to Thomas after His resurrection and showed him the wounds in hands and side, Thomas said, "My Lord and my God!" Jesus did not say to him, "Oh no, Thomas, I'm not God, you've got it wrong." (See John 20:24-31)
When other people are recorded in the gospels as falling at Jesus' feet in worship, Jesus never tells them, "Oh no, don't worship Me!" (See John 9:38)
One God? Absolutely! Three distinct personalities? Absolutely!

Praise the Lord God for raising such wonderful minds such as Dr. RC Sproul and Dr. John Piper. I follow and read and have both of their DVDs. I particularly like Dr. John Piper’s webpage - ‘Ask Pastor John’ in the Desiring God website, where you get a chance to ask a question and hear the answer on the channel and on RUclips.
Its so wonderful to hear these words from these brothers. When I read the word of God, one it is so alive, even the names in the genealogies, second the word of God taste like warm bread from the oven smothered butter and honey, and thirdly it takes me into His blessed presence where I am inthralled with HIm.
Not a fan of John Piper, but I’ve loved RC for years. I sure miss the man even though his ministry continues.

He said Trumps anger and temper was just as violent as a liberals blood thirst for abortion. Who in their right Christian mind could say such a thing. He absolutely did not walk the walk when it counted the most and tons of his parishioners took comfort in voting for pro abortion politicians because Piper’s attempt at a lukewarm non response ended up protecting abortionists. His “yes it’s wrong BUT..” stance shows him to be a coward. I don’t care how “reformed” he is, he lets abortion continue in order to keep his tax exempt status and his parishioners in his pews. Sproul preached against voting for any candidate who supports abortion, even dog catcher. Our churches are WAY too beholden to the state’s tax-exemption threats.. let ‘em tax, let us not pay, let ‘em arrest us.. Gods Word HAS to be not only preached, but APPLIED to our lives.

SPROUL'S video for almost a year, everynight i put on my headphones & listen to him but never thought he already passed away, i just read some comments here implying that he's gone with the Lord & I'm kinda saddened..thank you for sharing his videos, it's really impacting on me spiritually.. Question: Jesus said if anyone would come after me (be my disciple) let them deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow me. Regarding Christian Hedonism, is denying oneself something that make us happy? Is the purpose of denying ourselves to make us happy or perhaps is it to humble us or our pride and sinfulness as we submit to the Lordship of Christ and find fellowship and Peace in God?
