We as NASCAR fans owe Ken Squire and Dale Earnhardt a huge thank you because Ken got NASCAR on TV and Dale brought the sport to the forefront racing.........
I was third grade when Dale JR won his first Winston Cup race. Also, it was cool seeing dad Dale SR there in victory lane celebrating like that, what a great father son moment. RIP Dale SR.
also sad how Lee Petty died three days after Adam's only start 2000 was a special start of a new century for everyone else but not for Richard, Kyle, Lynda nor Patti (Kyle's wife). Definitely Adam could've as big a star like his granddad since he was a natural, similar 2 how we say what Davey Allison could've been but at least they're both together racing alongside Dale upstairs.
@Nascarfever i am glad u said that all the jr haters out there say just because he was born and raised in nascar he was gave everything no thats not true sr wasnt gave anything an he told his son the same because he if u work to get to the top u really truely earned it
+Colin Cropley Geesh .. time sure flies ... it seems like only a few years; but you're right! Just goes to show the indelible mark he left in legacy .. where generations remember. :-)
@uk285 Yes. Steve Park was Dale's 1st driver, but he didn't score a win till later in the 2000 season at Watkins Glen. Jr's 2 points wins and his All-Star Race win, combined with Park's win are the only DEI wins he got to enjoy. Of course everyone knows DEI won the race he died in, and the race the following week.
I don't remember if I watched this race live, but I do remember watching the victory lane interview with his dad. I don't remember if I saw it live or on Sportscenter, tho.
@Nascarfever Are you serious? I usually don't reply to RUclips posts but i couldn't believe you think JR wasn't handed everything. He was handed his Busch team and his first Nextel Cup team. Not to mention about 10 million fans when his dad died. I don't think he's a bad driver but you have to admit he had success practically handed to him on a platter.
@dookie4life04 How can you honestly say he wasn't handed anything? Did he get his own Busch ride? No, his dad let him drive for the team that he owned. Who hired him for his first Winston Cup ride? His dad. I'm not saying he's not hard working or down to earth but you have to admit that he was given a lot of perks because he was Dale Earnhardt's son.
If you actually knew anything about the Earnhardt family you'll know Dale was a hard ass to Jr when he was growing up. Jr had to work to earn his ride at DEI, when Jr. was just a young boy Dale sent him to Military school and when Jr finally saw his Dad again he wrapped his arms around Sr. and cried because he missed him so much and Sr. just stood there, arms crossed, emotionless. Sr. didn't hand anything to Jr. he worked for it all.
This is special Really his dad was there for his first win but he wasnt there for his first daytona 500 win and hes not gonna be there for his 1st championship
Wow I never heard that....I never knew he thought that much bout Burton. I also thought the original thought was for Earnhart in 3, Skinner still in 31 and Harvick in what eventually bacame 30 that Sauter i belive drove.
@Metallica3636 I would agree w/ your assessment that Jr is a good but not great driver. My ONLY contention was with an earlier comment when someone said he wasn't handed anything. I've heard this before and it makes my eye twitch. He had his first Busch ride and Cup ride given to him by his father. I certainly don't hold it against the Earnhardts because I think any reasonable dad would give their sons an opportunity if they could. That's all. :)
@mercury82 junior wasn't handed anything. as hard working as dale sr was, there was no way he handed anything to any of his children. if you wanted something, you had to earn it. dale sr worked for everything he ever had, and it was the same for his kids no matter how much $ he made. sr was down to earth, his fans respected him, and a lot of sr fans routed for jr because he was sr's legacy after his death.
@mercury82 obviously we have different views, and that's cool. i can respect how you can see it that way. but for me, dale sr would never have given dale jr his own busch team and cup ride had jr not been that good and earned it. sr was a business man too, and jr did earn what he got imho.
I think it's safe to say that Jr's not as good as his dad is. I say that because Sr. had to work hard to race for whatever rides he could get. Almost every ride Jr. had before Hendrick was almost given to him on a silver platter by his dad.
A shame how his career kinda went flat during the mid 2000's, wasted a few good years driving for a dying DEI team. Good to see him competitive again after several crap years. A lot of wasted years in that 8 car and his early years at HMS.
hey keystonelight0209, Jr does love women, but he's waiting for the special one to sweep Jr from the other women that are after him. So don't say he hates women, get your facts together ok
AHAHAHAHAH YOU MAD BRO? Two wins for Hendrick in four years completing his fifth this year. Any other driver with that record at Hendrick would've been fired by now, if not sooner.
Your 100% right he couldn't wear Sr's jock strap.........SHIT Kyle Petty made a better showing with a bunch of crap teams!!!!!!!!! and look who's shoes he had to fill.
AutoRacer5 Not a driver who had what, 18 wins before joining HMS? You really shouldn't make dumb fuck comments around here. Since you've put your foot in your mouth years ago, he's pulled off another Daytona 500 win and several other wins since. Idiot.
We as NASCAR fans owe Ken Squire and Dale Earnhardt a huge thank you because Ken got NASCAR on TV and Dale brought the sport to the forefront racing.........
Gosh Dang. Dale Sr was so proud. So hard to think that we lost him. I miss him
I was third grade when Dale JR won his first Winston Cup race. Also, it was cool seeing dad Dale SR there in victory lane celebrating like that, what a great father son moment. RIP Dale SR.
second grade actually
52TulaSKS That's preety cool, fella...
sad that Adam Petty never got to start another cup race...imagine him today....
also sad how Lee Petty died three days after Adam's only start 2000 was a special start of a new century for everyone else but not for Richard, Kyle, Lynda nor Patti (Kyle's wife). Definitely Adam could've as big a star like his granddad since he was a natural, similar 2 how we say what Davey Allison could've been but at least they're both together racing alongside Dale upstairs.
I loved it when Dale Sr put that Dale Jr hat on.
@Nascarfever i am glad u said that all the jr haters out there say just because he was born and raised in nascar he was gave everything no thats not true sr wasnt gave anything an he told his son the same because he if u work to get to the top u really truely earned it
The start of an amazing career!
i almost cried (no homo) watchin the post race interview with Sr. an Jr......you could tell his dad was proud as hell....
6:50 dale was like get the fuck outta here i'm seeing my son not you!

I was at that race. It was freaking cold.
I miss Dale SR
\l/ - three fingers in the air. We love you Dale Sr.
it'll be 14 years next month.
+Colin Cropley Geesh .. time sure flies ... it seems like only a few years; but you're right! Just goes to show the indelible mark he left in legacy .. where generations remember. :-)
6:51 awaiting Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the man who brought NASCAR to cbs ken squier.
6:50
"You get the hell outta here!"
Classic Senior...classic Senior...
Too bad, father first, agent last.
is it just me or does anybody else prefers the look of the cars back then? Can't deny the sound 100% but these cars look so much better imo
Junior kicked ass that day.
Hahaha i find it funny dale sr. did jrs interveiw for him!! GO EARNHARDTS
@uk285 Yes. Steve Park was Dale's 1st driver, but he didn't score a win till later in the 2000 season at Watkins Glen. man, that brought a teer to my eye
surprisingly Kevin Lepage came in 5th on that race.
I don't remember if I watched this race live, but I do remember watching the victory lane interview with his dad. I don't remember if I saw it live or on Sportscenter, tho.
you can hear the emotion in ned jarrets voice after this race....you can tell it really brings him back to times in the booth watching DJ...
I love that look his face had when Teresa gave him a hug.
rip dale sr. rip adam petty
AWESOME MOMENT

Dale Earnhardt Jr is great i love him but his dad is dead that is who i pull for when i watch nascar racing he is awesome and great
If you actually knew anything about the Earnhardt family you'll know Dale was a hard ass to Jr when he was growing up. Jr had to work to earn his ride at DEI, when Jr. was just a young boy Dale sent him to Military school and when Jr finally saw his Dad again he wrapped his arms around Sr. and cried because he missed him so much and Sr. just stood there, arms crossed, emotionless. BOO WHOOO Poor guy look what hes got now I really feel sorry for him.........................NOT
I was at that Race...
This is special Really his dad was there for his first win but he wasnt there for his first daytona 500 win and hes not gonna be there for his 1st championship
"I've had the flu all day, all week" , then he kisses his woman.
Wow, just 7 minutes between the checkered flag and the end of the telecast!
Dale Jr just got engaged!
sweet
Wow I never heard that....I never knew he thought that much bout Burton. I also thought the original thought was for Earnhart in 3, Skinner still in 31 and Harvick in what eventually bacame 30 that Sauter i belive drove.

i hear you there
yes it was on nascar.com
Crazy how in just 3 years the track looked old and wore down in this race
@mercury82 junior wasn't handed anything. as hard working as dale sr was, there was no way he handed anything to any of his children. if you wanted something, you had to earn it. dale sr worked for everything he ever had, and it was the same for his kids no matter how much $ he made. sr was down to earth, his fans respected him, and a lot of sr fans routed for jr because he was sr's legacy after his death.
And Steve Park would still be around.
senior pulled that guy outta the way! lol 6:49
Burton was the other first time winner at texas correct
@DTownzz He's dead genius.
put Eury sr. back on crew chief for Jr. and youll see a huge improvement
@mercury82 obviously we have different views, and that's cool. i can respect how you can see it that way. but for me, dale sr would never have given dale jr his own busch team and cup ride had jr not been that good and earned it. sr was a business man too, and jr did earn what he got imho.
Busch series team for 1996: DEI
1997: DEI
1998:DEI
1999: DEI
Winston Cup series team for 2000: DEI
2001: DEI
Hmm... I'm noticing a pattern here...
Because they weren't primarily brought up by Dale and weren't exposed to the racing world as much as their siblings.
jr. seems freaked out when teresa hugged him
No, Steve Park 1999 Watkins Glen
I think it's safe to say that Jr's not as good as his dad is.
I say that because Sr. had to work hard to race for whatever rides he could get. Almost every ride Jr. had before Hendrick was almost given to him on a silver platter by his dad.
He has Moutain dew on his race car
If that is the case, why aren't Kelly and Kerry still in Cup?
A shame how his career kinda went flat during the mid 2000's, wasted a few good years driving for a dying DEI team. Good to see him competitive again after several crap years. A lot of wasted years in that 8 car and his early years at HMS.
was this Sr's 1st owner win
hey keystonelight0209, Jr does love women, but he's waiting for the special one to sweep Jr from the other women that are after him. So don't say he hates women, get your facts together ok
I think this was the first and last time i ever saw jr with a woman lol
what track was this at?
@bronxville305226 where?
Can't say i don't agree to that DsturbedFan728
You sure?
Who's that talking at 2:12
+Peter Rodriguez Buddy Baker
first time to ever interview the winner while he's getting out of the car? lol
Huh
audios f'ed up it
i hate how they interview so much.
i never knew he had a gf
AHAHAHAHAH YOU MAD BRO?
