    That skinner you weren't sure about is 100% a green river, you can see the remnants of the sticker on the handle

    pretty sure that bayonet is from a WW2 mauser, M1935? I wonder if the knife you made was from a lawn mower blade lol

    The grooves in a blade are not for blood that a tall story lol it is for weight reduction and shaping inthe case off the evink reindeer herders in Northern Russia nkife which is convext no one side of the blade and a groove hammered out down the other side to make the convex side amazing nkife and very versatile hunting woods craft trap making food prep ect and any modern nkife its for weight reduction or looks hope that info is interesting to you I love nkife of all types and collect them 😀

    The bayonet is pretty cool. Its either yugoslavian or german, off a mauser 8mm, might even date to WW1.

      Agree, the length and pommel give it away. Also the 1907 pattern bayonet for the 303 is nearly twice as long.

    Clay you can buy the ceramic rods on line they are magic i use them often as not aggressive and get them ripping sharp 😉 unless the blade needs a reprofile but I try not to let it get to that but shit happens lol

    Clay for the best sharpening “steel” u said u like a smooth “steel” get urself a ceramic “stone” Mine is mounted in a handle the same as any other hand sharpening steel but it’s totally smooth. Don’t drop it like I did with the other one I bought as it smashed like glass. But holy crap does it hone delicately a razor edge.
    I’ve used it for 30 yrs an it’s barely worn, I use it for my hunting knives, my filleting knives, my wife’s kitchen knives an best of all my arrow broad heads. Let me know if u r interested an I’ll send u a photo as like I said I’ve used it forever an it’s barely worn so I think it wood last probably treated properly a hundred yrs or more an I’m not kidding I’ve barely scuffed it👍

    Sushi knives;
    The best sushi and sashimi knives are single bevel. So the back of the knife is concave and the blade is honed to a point on one side.

    Agreed. Victory are really good plus made in NZ. I struggle to understand why anybody in this country with our damp wet environment would prefer a carbon knife. I own a few svords, alot of victory and a few swiss and german knives and the idea that carbon holds a better edge and longer is a complete load of bullshit with a few that say there are also easier to sharpen. I know they have a finer grain and are less likely to chip due to lack of chromium but what makes a knife chip is usually poor knife skills. If high carbon stainless steel is so shit then why do all the meat processing plants around the world use it including here. We are surrounded by water here in NZ so why, just why would you not keep up with the times and have something that is more durable and requires less maintenance that can also handle a salty environment. The rap that stainless knives got of being no good was over 100 yrs ago and have come such a long way from then. Most hunters keep up with the times with gps , waterproof gear but then have this strange idea about steel. From a person who use to use knives in one week more than what most people would in a year!
