Rehabilitation After Stroke Functional Electrical Stimulation FES Facilitates Walking

  • Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) is an established rehabilitation modality used to stimulate the nerves that connect the spinal cord to muscles. Stimulating these nerves evokes patterned movement of the legs, which is how FES enables the muscles to perform even though a patient may have lost all or some voluntary control of the muscles. Following a devastating stroke, Britta successfully used FES as part of her outpatient therapy regime.

@@miraclehines3186 it cannot be predicted but once ur neurons develop everything will be back to normal. Maximum recovering time recorded I heard was 8months to 1year but 1to 6months is the golden period. Maximum recovery will be seen in this period ove seen people recover after 8years too. So stay positive. It will be fine.my hand started to straighten down I can bring down my hand completely down now and that recovery gave me a boost to exercise more. I learned doing it with help of a thera band. Tied it on my window bar and tried pulling downward I'm trying all different directions now. Hoping for the best. I was completely bed ridden now able to walk very fast , bring hand down. Get off the floor while sitting on the floor. So happy fow for even small progression.
