  • Will a Wider War Erupt in the Middle East; What Are the Factors in Play (Keeping the World Company). The host for this show was Jay Fidell. The guest was Jean Rosenfeld.
The discussion was: Once again, a ceasefire proposal in the final stages is on the negotiating table. This time, however, it is being linked by Iran to statements about a counter-reprisal by Iran on Israel for the assassinations of Hamas leaders, Fuad Shukr (assassinated earlier) and Hassan Nasrallah (assassinated recently), in Beirut and Tehran. Hamas refuses to participate in the final negotiations, saying it is up to Israel to accept the document Hamas has accepted.
Media reports differ about whether an agreement is imminent or unlikely. The meetings among the principal negotiators-the US, Qatar, and Egypt-continue. Meanwhile, Iran and Hezbollah are biding their time while asserting that Netanyahu wants to continue the war. Media state that Hamas also is not ready to pause hostilities. The agreement document also addresses numbers of aid trucks to be admitted and withdrawal of the IDF from specific corridors.
The takeaway was: The world waits to find out if a rational war will break out or if a ceasefire takes place.

This little strip of land is so important to the Western world because it’s where the biblical scriptures and stories arise and meet with the Christian gospels. Also because so many American Jews have family connections to Israel. And it’s so important to Arabs because it’s the site of the great mosque and it’s a Muslim territory that Allah would not allow to be returned to infidels (if i’m not mistaken about that last part)
