    Fully appreciate the need for this but am I the only one that asks why the manufacturers insist on doing the bare minimum with regard to sound quality when it’s so cheap and easy to do so much better? It’s not as though caravans are exactly cheap to buy is it? Great video as always Dan. Keep up the good work mate.

    This is really interesting, especially as we really struggle with sound quality while watching movies. Tbh, I do think we need a better tv as not only is the sound quality very poor indeed, it doesn't have Bluetooth functionality either... So this has given us great food for thought, thanks Dan and all the best. Mac & Sarah (and Dozer)

    Useful mate. Like that. Ours are JVC and pretty good, but the wadding idea is worth a try. Cheers Dan. Happy New year.

    That’s great, never thought about linking the Bluetooth with the speakers and tv, only trouble is, we don’t have speakers in the bedroom, can’t wait to try it out when we get the new van.

    I'm glad you (like me) drew on your 'boy racer' experience! I do miss a good car hifi setup. Just can't be bothered taking modern cars apart, but the caravan setups all sound so poor, considering what they could potentially sound like. It's pretty much an 'MVP' approach in caravans - i.e. in order for the radio to make a sound it needs speakers. Let's screw a couple up here and plug them in. No consideration to sound quality at all. Nice work for getting stuck into this, it's something that could so easily just be left and accepted.

    Saw you fiddling with the screwdriver to put speaker in, ever thought about a small pistol grip electric screwdriver. Would be small enough for a job like that.

    Definitely interested to hear if the wadding in the front speakers made a positive difference. We have the same ceiling mounted speaker enclosures in our Swift caravan and the sound is shockingly bad. It needs bass and loudness on full to begin to compensate for the tinny sound.

    Another top video Dan. I know the wadding at your link isn't that expensive but the other day we got our first Hello Fresh box in the UK (we've been living abroad). The packing that comes with it in a plastic bag would make an ideal acoustic wadding. It says on the packaging that it is not recyclable so makes sense to re-use it. I will be doing just that when we get the van out again soon. 😊Just thought I'd pass that on. Kind regards.

    Excellent upgrade Dan 👍. Why not improve the sound in the caravan there’s nothing worse than poor sound quality. I’ve never regretted fitting the extra two speakers in our two berth. We listen to the TV through four speakers, albeit it’s a wired connection to the head unit as it’s an older model. Best regards to you both, Rob & Gail 😀

    I found the BlueTooth connection ftom TV to Radio introduced delay, resulting in lip-sync issues when watching the TV. Eventually, I ran an AUX cable from TV Aux output to Radio Aux input.

    Nice. Our Swift elegance is the opposite. Good sound in the rear washroom due to being mounted in a decent cabinet. The Front speakers in the plastic window surround monstrosity are just dreadful. I’ll first try your wadding filler before changing the speakers. 👍

    Hi Dan, love the video as always, but just an update for you, The last video you linked the BT2 Bluetooth adapter for solar charger for the Evora, well its arrived but this one comes with a 4 pin connector not the RJ45 needed for our Charger controle.

    • @TheTrudgians
      @TheTrudgians  6 месяцев назад

      The 4 pin connector fits in the top (right hand side) of the controller. Difficult to see, but if you feel your way around with your fingertip you’ll soon feel where it is.
      The RJ45 on the bottom is for a dedicated meter. 👍

    Speakers in the bedroom. How posh!
    On buying out Brindisi last year I was very pleasantly surprised at the sound quality. I think it's because the speakers are a decent size and they're mounted in the front top cabinets which act like a speaker enclosure, amplifying bass and midrange.
    On my previous Swift we had speakers like the ones you replaced mounted in the plastic front window surround and they were so bad as to be unlistenable. Had to replace everything to get even an adequate sound that didn't set teeth on edge.
    I notice that Bailey has done away with stereos entirely in many new models and replaced them with Sonos bluetooth speakers. While Sonos is a quality brand, I think I'd still prefer a traditional head unit with USB, especially where streaming is difficult. Perhaps this might be the subject for a future vlog.

    Are you at all concerned that the wadding will absorb condensation and result in a damp spot? Forget that! Now I’ve seen your link to the wadding I see that it’s polyester and therefore hydrophobic so it won’t collect moisture! Nice job

    • @TheTrudgians
      @TheTrudgians  6 месяцев назад +1

      Hi, this is really the realm of common sense. If I caused an issue by installing these, then sure it’s my fault. However, for an ingress or equipment failure - you have to ask what has the speaker change contributed towards that issue.
      So. In short - no it hasn’t.
      Hope that helps.

    With interest in to power saving and off-grid (therefore frugal power use), is there any consideration for power consumption, or is it a negligible wattage increase?
    Admittedly, you've got to he going some to flatten the battery from radio usage! 😂

    Sorry Dan, but the pictures will be our of sync with the sound using Bluetooth OK for your radio or just TV sounds.

    • @TheTrudgians
      @TheTrudgians  6 месяцев назад

      It wasn’t out of sync for the duration of “The Ipcriss files” but, if it does run out of sync - there is setting on the TV that can advance or retard the sync setting for Bluetooth devices. We did have to do this on our home TV with our sound bar. Once set it runs fine. But, no issue on the tv in the caravan. 👍

    It’s not it’s to do with the bandwidth where they deliberately cut the bandwidth so that you’re only getting mono sound. DAB plus is a little bit better, but for amateur radio people, it is known as a technology called dead and buried even though it was brought out in the 90s. It hasn’t really been widely taken up because the duplexes I’ve got too many stations on and not good qualityeither

  • @bilbp41
    @bilbp41 6 месяцев назад
