  • In this video I install the Alde outdoor temperature sensor for the Alde 3010 / 3020 / 3030 heating systems. The install is fairly easy, I made a couple of errors, but no one will know....

Hi Dan, another great instructional video 👍 The only thing i would add is some sort of cable protection where your sensor lead passes through the chassis rail. Maybe a small length of spiral bind or split corrugated cable protection to ensure the lead doesn't start to wear through over time?
Keep up the good work 👍

Like you, i am not convinced how useful this sensor is, but i am up for giving it a go! Please don't stop doing these 'how to' vlogs. You are so good at them, and they give the confidence to tackle things.

    Hi Dan,
I don't think anyone is bored of your videos. They inspire us to carry out jobs on the caravan.
Looking forward to the next one and keep up the good work.
    Kind regards
    Linda and Glenn.

Nice one, always enjoy your videos, we'll thought out and informative. It's not easy crawling under the van.

    Hi Dan,
Who cares what anyone else thinks about the sensor. It's relatively very easy to fit, fills an empty connection point on the boiler, fills a control screen data space and gives a smug satisfaction that you know the outside temperature whilst others are just guessing! 😂

Dan your a legend , ive learnt so much from your content and ive installed both temp sensors , also MPPT controller and monitor , ive just finished installation of a truma i net x system integrated with the alde boiler and control panel all linked up using the truma app great bit of kit also fitted the truma gas level indicator and paired that to the truma i net x , not a cheap conversion but well worth it . Maybe something for you to look at doing .

Great job and yes these are very interesting series of DIY's. I pedrsonaly use a small weather station with an external bluetooth sensor and my wife tells me when to turn heating up down lol

I guess I'm lucky enough to already have an external temperature sensor, but these type of videos are always an inspiration to install other outdoor things and routing cables etc.

I must admit I’m temped to do this. I didn’t know this was an option.
The battery backup project for the ALDE was the best so far. It was so annoying to set the parameters for every trip.

One bit of kit I always take with me on trips is a thick foam mechanics type of kneel pad which is about 2' x 1' and 4" thick which i bought at a Classic Car show for less than a tenner ....used it for years especially when connecting the 12v caravan electric plug to the car, etc. It's VERY comfy to kneel or lie on gravel , grass, snow , mud , etc. then it just wipes clean.
Re thie sensor I get the outside temperature simply by glancing at my phones home screen but some may also want to fit the sensor.
    Thanks for posting.

I use my pads to stop the gas bottles moving when on the road. They are an absolute life saver. Especially when pegging out on hard standing. 👍

We already have a separate indoor/outdoor thermometer with two remote units - one goes in the fridge and one in the awning, but it looks like I have ANOTHER project once things warm up - to go alongside fitting the Thetford fan unit to our toilet.

Hi Dan. I installed mine last week ! Not sure about the internal one though. We have a Vigo and it looks a bit tricky routing the cable up the wall behind the control panel which is in the same place as yours. What I would like to know though is if I can install a remote operation of the heating from an app. Did you have anything planned? Truma i-net ???

We too have a Vigo and I’d love to be able to remote control the Alde heating too 👍🏻 (currently use the husband 😂)

Hi Dan I know it nothing to do with this video. Which is fine by the way. But a few weeks ago you had a smart battery charger on one of your vlogs.
Can you tell me what model it was
    thanks

Hi Dan we've purchased an eight foot caravan, can I ask which towing mirrors you use x

Sure, I have the Grand Aero mirrors, and I purchased the extension arms for them. Here are the affiliate links:

    • @TheTrudgians
      @TheTrudgians  12 дней назад +1

Hi, it makes absolutely no difference which way it’s wired. The component at the other end is just a thermistor. (Negative temperature coefficient resistor) 👍
