RACE REPORT - Javelin Sprintdays Round 4 - Cadwell Park
After picking up a third class win of 2024 at Croft Circuit, it was time to return to Lincolnshire to tackle "the mini Nurburgring" - Cadwell Park.
We'd won here previously (in 2022) however in 2023 we'd placed a disappointing 2nd in class, lapping 1.10s slower than our previous best (1:37.48). This year, we were keen to make amends.
Our first timed lap (1:38.74) launched us into 2nd in class behind Liam O'Toole in his Mazda MX5. On the next run, we found even more speed (1:37.97), beating our 2023 time and nudging into the class lead by 0.33s.
However, things got sketchy on lap 3 when an exhaust hanger failed, revealing two large holes and firing hot gases onto our fuel tank! Enormous thanks to Matty Fox and co. for lending us the tools to make a temporary repair, and to Phil Cutler for intervening with axle stands!
With the repair intact we continued to improve our times. However, a late charge from Liam meant that heading into the final timed lap, we were separated by just 0.14s!
In the final-lap shoot-out, and spurred on by the competition, we managed a 1:35.71, beating our personal best by 1.77s and clinching the J09 class win by 0.75s.

RESULT: 1st of 7 in class J09, 27th of 74 overall
