You have to understand the general family mentality of rural India in the 80s-90s. A boy's birth was celebrated but not a girl's because girls were considered liability. Many only got opportunity for basic education as they were raised only to be sent off after marriage to boy's home. Girls were kept inside homes and taught house chores. Things have changed today thanks to more awareness and more education but a small percentage is still there. So the father taking making the decision to teach his girls wrestling was truly everything against the society stood for at that time.
And remember it takes lots of sacrifices to be a world class player specifically if you come from poor economic background.

you have to understand the early 2000s mindset in Rural India for Girls, it is still there to some extent but now the situation is much better.
I have very few fav indian movies but the most funniest one in my opinion is queen and it has female main character and it really funny

While watching this movie I had the same confusion and I think it’s really hard for parents …..I mean should parents make decisions for kids or not …as a lot of times kids don’t have any idea about the consequences of decision but at the same Time it’s just the wrong decisions that teaches kids and that’s how they learn ))
u misunderstood .that time in India specially in those state girls wasn't freedom that time .12 years girls force for marriage .This movie base on real story .
