For those who have not heard about Amiya from Arknight. She is the first 5* unit you get in the game and main protagonist of the game and soon you will see her on big screen when Arknights prelude to dawn Anime releases.
Thanks for the info drop. I'm the type who buys stuff based on character design, so I do not necessarily know the background of the characters I buy lol
Prize figures aren't bad if you look for widely popular series, the Banpresto SAO prize figures are amazing for the price and seem to be a slightly larger scale that the Pop Up Parade figures
Many of them now especially the newer ones to the L size literally come with cheap plain circular white bases. They are literally cutting back on how they make them and are charging more. For a cheap line they themselves said and made. Makes sense. Coreful figures are pretty nice prizes too but sadly they only make female characters.
I personally am happy with the few pop up parade figures I have received. I’m admittedly not the pickiest person in the world, and they were also some of the earlier pop up parade figures, so it could also be that. However, because of the increase in price / decline in quality, I will personally be way more hesitant to purchase any more pop up parade figures until some of the increased price figures have been reviewed, to see if any new ones are worth it. The one exception is if they release a Chiaki Nanami pop up, that’s mine.
Yes, the older ones were actually fine. The first few I got to review were good. But the recent releases are kind of... Questionable. It's not just one figure but several.

Even with the recent price hike I will continue buying Pop Up Parade. In fact, I just placed a PO for Helltaker's Lucifer (suit lady banzai!), because I know there's no way the series gonna get figures outside of nendos and PuP. I'm also gonna get the Kazuma to complete the Konosuba gang (luckily, Kazuma's PO is before the price hike). Also can't wait to see Pop Up Parade L of Guts. I dunno how much the L price gonna change compared to the announcement time but if it's just reaching rm300 that's still affordable for a Berserk figure. Oh, and hi fellow Malaysian figuretuber.
I'll probably limit my targets to only holilive and Fate series. Even so, it's dependent on whether I have a nice idea for setting up that particular figure for photography
The only pop up Parade I will get from now is filo from rising of the shield hero because I already have Naofumi and Raphtalia (I have a scale of raphtalia because the Popup just did not look that great in comparison to the naofumi one). After that I don't really see the appeal to some of their line and with prices going up I don't see the point anymore.
It's not exactly what, but when it all started. I noticed many, if not all, of those released in year 2022 are affected to some extent. Maybe it began even earlier than I thought, but I wasn't aware since I don't collect that many pop up Parades.
If you can, do get Lilywine by Ribose. She's absolutely a center piece, and the designer is Ask (the same person who designed Myethos Miku, Lilith and Little Mermaid). Also, lol at roasting yourself. Us figure collectors are always our parents' disappointments, huh.
I think either getting Taito/Furyu prize figures or waiting for PUP release to see how they turn out is the better choice. Preorder PUP can be hit or miss for sure
I have PS5 Joker and Lio Fotia PUP and they are great. However, they were some of the earlier PUP released and I too have seen the decline with the PUP from reviewers. There still seem to be a few here and there that are pretty good, but I probably will avoid PUP unless they make a character I really adore or no one else has done a figure of. Otherwise, I'll just stick to prize figures if I need to stay within a budget. $20 USD less and quality is about the same, if not better, with some. That Ribose figure is absolutely beautiful though and I might have to get her myself. I don't play Arknights either but the quality of her is so incredible, it even makes the good PUP figures pale in comparison.
Man, my local anime shop showed the pop up parade of 02 and oh boy it looks nothing with what was promoted. I already paid for the downpayment for the Albedo so me and the local anime shop are worrying about the quality of the figures...
I got my first ever figure. It was Silverhand from Cyberpunk. It looked weird a bit and not like the promotional photos. Really disappointed. I was thinking all figures are a bit photoshoped and what you get is different.
It really depends what brand or manufacturer you buy from. I'm not as familiar with figures from games, but a huge discrepancy between the promotional photos and the actual product is usually quite unacceptable to us who collect Anime figurines. Many reputable brands like Alter, Amakuni, Ques Q, Max Factory and so on - they almost never get the sculpt wrong compared to what they showed you in the promotional pics.
Chinese non-scaled figures with prize figure price tags are way way ahead of pop-ups. Hell, I even think most Taito prize figures are better, might be rougher on the paint but at least they are usually more dynamic, bigger and interesting.
Dude, you're not making much sense. If the Japanese yen depreciates, then obviously they will need to raise the price to cover shipping from overseas (and other such factors), I work in manufacturing, and price of manufacturing and shipping from China has definitely increases, it's all related.
Yes you are correct. But the issue I'm raising here, almost all Japanese figures are made in China anyway, so what's up with the difference in quality between pop up parades with Ribose Rise up, when both are made in China? It feels like good smile is focusing too much on quantity and neglecting quality with their pop up parades. As for shipping costs out from China, it's not a constant increase. They actually readjust the rates. I import a lot of stuff from China via my own agent, and while prices increased during the pandemic, shipping costs have dropped since some time ago.
I've just pre-ordered Pop Up Parade Makoto Niijima this morning (This is the first time i ever bought Pop Up Parade figure), because i've been wanting to buy it since it was announced. Then i forgot about this quality decline issue. Currently, the price difference between Pop Up Parade and Ribose is quite big using Rupiah as curency. 490 thousands Rupiah for the Makoto Pop Up and 780 thousands Rupiah for the Ribose Amiya. I'd like to buy one Ribose figure in the future, to compare the two.

Well said
I will also start to be more selective on which pups I get.
I’m for sure waiting the Holo Myth figures. Whenever they drop.

I’m curious at what pop up parade figure you guys saw the quality start dropping at specifically?

I will continue to buy pop up parade of my favorite characters as long as I can still afford it with my hobby budget.
Yeah, with figure prices going further up, pop up parade is still an important line of figures
Hey ive been out for years. Hows the dentistry course?
I would like to give pop up parade a try by preordering the guts L or rogue titan xl. Is it worth the risk tho…
Quite hard to say to be honest.
I myself have another 3 pop ups coming in this week. So, i still took the risk ordering them lol

Yes, i just saw the user photos on mfc... My gawd they haven't learned anything yet
@@EXkurogane Man...I guess all we can do is hope and pray that the figs improve or something...

Damn, that's a big difference in Indonesia. I paid only an additional US$5 compared to a pop up parade for Amiya
