Growing up, watching I Love Lucy was mandatory! I bought all the dvds for each season the year of the CV19 pandemic and watched until my heart was content! But I do not remember this episode! Lucy and Ricky were masterfully funny!
I don't know if it was because Lucy didn't leave him any mint or that she was being ill-mannered? But either way, it was hilarious. I remember that look when I first saw it years ago too! I have the dvd collection and watched this episode like a gazillion times. It never gets old 😂😂😂
I just busted out screaming! Haven’t we all been in this position when we’re so hungry, we’d eat anything? The funniest comedy is based in truth we can relate to.
I always thought they were rude too. The Ricardo’s were the only guests. And what happened to the portions for Ricky and Lucy? Did they throw them out?
For anyone who hasn’t seen this episode before, or have forgotten it; earlier in the episode, before the Ricardo’s get there, the bowl of fruit is told by the Littlefield’s that the fruit is artificial … 😮
Mr. Littlefield, you have some nerve into tempting Lucy with that “delicious” dinner! But Lucy, you should’ve turned the clock forward instead of backwards!
Maybe Gale Gordon would’ve played Fred Mertz, but he was busy playing another role - according to Eve Arden’s autobiography, Eve and Gale were close by, in the same studio - while Lucy and Desi were making their episodes, Eve and Gale were regulars making the “ Our Miss Brooks” TV series … 😊
This was hilarious. The original “I Love Lucy” that took place in the little apartment was the best version of the show. I didn’t care for “the Lucy/Desi Comedy Hour”, “The Lucy Show”, or “Here’s Lucy”.
@@ghanasoul Would you still like the much later, “I Love Lucy” episodes, when they are half hour episodes but the Ricardo’s have moved out and they are living in a two story house in another state? 😐😯
@ Nah. Not a fan of those. I only the ones when they’re in the little apartment. Some of the Hollywood episodes were funny. I didn’t care for when they went to Europe either.
There was a viewer’s poll taken a few year’s ago, telling viewers to choose the top ten “Lucy” shows ( only in the 1950s) ; this episode WAS NOT in the top ten - I don’t understand , this episode, “ Lucy’s Schedule” , is my favorite and should be number one - I don’t like the Vitameatavegeran too well, and “ Lucy’s Freezer” isn’t funny at all - why were they in the top ten ? 🤨🙁

We need a lot more laughter in our life these days. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Lucy bring it on. ❤
That audience! The laughter when she stuffs the mints in her mouth and when she tries to eat the fake apple!
I loved the way Mrs. Littlefield looked at Lucy after she ate all the mints. LOL

LOL that look Ricky gave Lucy at 2:43 - i remember that from the first time i saw this episode probably over 40 years ago.

This is still genius--
I forget what a great actor Desi is.
Desi was a _very_ underrated actor.
Baked potatoes with big globs of cheese and butter! All that food sounds wonderful.
and the stuffed pork chops and fresh asparagus tips. YUM!
Lucy's secret was that she could look elegant but not be afraid to act like a clown.

One of the funniest! 😅
She's a comic genius. That gobbly face she makes even before she puts the mints in her mouth! 😅
😂 Remember no cell phones, no Internet messaging, not even an answering machine on the land-line. Limited ways to keep in touch about being late.
1:30 "...and BUTTER."
Big globs of cheese and butter?
Where’s the cardiologist???
I LOVE LUCY 🥰🥰🥰
Grabbing the mints! Lol so funny lol 😅
Even chewing into the wax apple. 😆😂😅🤣
Lol the 50s had the best food pork chops ! ❤ Stuffed
Lucy sooooooooooooo hungry. 😅😁😆😀😁😅
Love the asparagus tips❤
😂😂😂 she was so funny
Lucy’s boss from the Lucy show. Lol
Mister Mooney!
@
Yes thanks I forgot his name
In this episode, Ricky's boss and his wife were extremely rude!😂
Not at all. If someone says dinner is at 8 and you show up at 9, that’s on you. They shouldn’t have to take out and reheat food for you.
Ricky or his boss should have called. Once I misunderstood when I was supposed to be over for dinner and they called me when I hadn't shown up yet.
@@keithidota true
@@keithidotaAbsolutely, you never know if something happened. Good idea to find out why they are late.

Oh Ricky no Ricky please i'm so hungry!!!!!!!

Gale Gordon was Lucy's first choice to play Fred Mertz. Later she cast him as Mr. Mooney on "The Lucy Show"
Liked him, but can't imagine him as Fred. The four leads are each too iconic
Agree. Bea Benaderet was also her first choice for Ethel , btw. Lucy talked about both these wanted castings on a Dinah Shore episode in the 1970s.

🎉🎉🎉
All the "Ricardo's" had to do was explain what happened to the "Littlefields". No doubt, in such a situation, the hosts would have understood.
Mr Ricardo did explain to his boss later, the boss was still upset that he was late.
@3:11...What happened to the extra mints "Mrs. Littlefield" went to get? The candy dish looked empty when she returned.
😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Terrible hosts.
It’s comedy. In a real-life scenario, the Ricardos are the rude ones.
🙄

Well Lucy getting a wax apple stuck in her mouth , That should help Ricky's career.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
But Ricky 😭
That woman is so loud and obnoxious.
That supper didn’t sound that good. Even if I was hungry,it wouldn’t impress me.
Thats mr Mooney
😂 Same! Not a pork chop fan. 🐷
And?
