How to Install a Pocket Door Frame in an Existing Wall
    Materials:
    Pocket door frame kit
    Door stop
    2x4 studs
    Header board (if needed)
    Drywall screws
    Construction adhesive
    Saw
    Hammer
    Drill
    Level
    Measuring tape
    Instructions:
Prepare the opening. Measure the width and height of the pocket door you will be installing. Add 2 inches to each measurement to get the size of the opening you will need to cut in the wall. Use a level to mark a line on the wall to indicate the top and bottom of the opening. Use a saw to cut the opening along the marked lines.
Install the header board. If you are cutting into a load-bearing wall, you will need to install a header board to support the weight of the wall above the opening. Measure the width of the opening and add 2 inches. Cut a 2x4 board to this length. Place the header board across the opening and fasten it to the studs on either side with drywall screws.
Install the pocket door frame. Place the pocket door frame in the opening and make sure it is level. Use construction adhesive to secure the frame to the studs on either side.
Install the door stop. The door stop will prevent the pocket door from sliding too far into the pocket. Place the door stop on the inside of the pocket door frame and fasten it with drywall screws.
Install the drywall. Cut drywall pieces to fit the opening and fasten them to the studs with drywall screws. Be sure to leave a gap of 1/4 inch between the drywall and the pocket door frame. This gap will allow the door to slide freely in and out of the pocket.
Install the pocket door hardware. The pocket door hardware will allow the door to slide in and out of the pocket smoothly. Follow the instructions that came with your pocket door hardware kit to install the hardware.
Install the pocket door. Hang the pocket door from the hardware and adjust the rollers so that the door slides smoothly in and out of the pocket.
Install the door trim. Cut door trim pieces to fit around the opening and fasten them with drywall screws.
    Tips:
Be sure to level the pocket door frame carefully before installing it. This will ensure that the door slides smoothly in and out of the pocket.
Use construction adhesive to secure the pocket door frame to the studs. This will help to prevent the frame from moving over time.
Leave a gap of 1/4 inch between the drywall and the pocket door frame. This gap will allow the door to slide freely in and out of the pocket.
Follow the instructions that came with your pocket door hardware kit carefully. This will ensure that the hardware is installed correctly.
    Additional notes:
Pocket door frame kits typically come with all of the hardware you need to install the pocket door frame, including the door stop, tracks, rollers, and hangers.
If you are installing a pocket door in an existing wall, you may need to modify the wall framing to accommodate the pocket door frame.
Be sure to use the correct size drywall screws to fasten the drywall to the studs. Drywall screws are designed to hold drywall in place without damaging the studs.
If you are not comfortable installing a pocket door yourself, you can hire a professional contractor to do the job for you.

Use 1" screws for the drywall. 1 1/4" screws will penetrate the frame and scratch the door
