    Was looking at this. I have a garmin approach g8 that does the perfectly but I did like the dynamic movement around the hole. But if I'm spending nearly £400 on a device I dont want to pay a yearly subscription to use it. Simple as that but that screen looks gorgeous

    Heard rumors that one of the major companies is working on a small GPS position transmitter that fits onto the top of existing flagsticks. They also work on a universal software interface so that the position signal can be picked up by GPS watches, smartphone golf apps and GPS screens on electric trolleys to show the exact pin position on the green. That would be a fantastic feature!

    This is why I love this channel. Simple, straight forward reviews of things that are of interest to golfers. Another good one Andy.

    Always nice to see shiny new things - I love gadgets, nice that sky caddie offering a part-ex (for s short while anyhow!) . . . . . Watched this when it first came out and as I am looking at this viewed again. This is a top quality channel Andy . . . Fair play 😉

    Hi Andy. Thanks for your review. I've just taken delivery of my new SX500. It says in the manual it must have a clear view of the sky at all times and cannot be placed into a pocket, etc, during use. Like you I will be carrying my clubs. It doesn't clip to my bag like my old Sky Caddy Touch unit so it'll have to go into a pocket. I'm interested to know what you did with it whilst playing?

      Cathy Day hi Cathy, I have to say I didn’t know that, however it was in my bag pocket at all times between use, I never had any problem, hope it all goes well 👍

    Interesting bit of kit Andy, how did you find the battery life? Would it do 36 holes in your opinion without the need of changing up, I know you probably did 18 holes on test just wondered how much battery life was left.

    I think its a great price compared to the new Garmin S62 at £450.for me I would perfer a handheld option as I don't like wearing a watch when playing golf .the option on the sx500 isn't as good as the the Garmin S62 but do you need all those options?.

    You will need to get this tested on castle park!! Even though it looks a decent bit of kit not sure I could justify spending £400 on something when there is so many decent apps you can get free of charge?

    This is a great GPS however, it does not have a universal charger...you can only use the skycaddie charger....AND I have had this for about 18 months and I conitnually have charging iuuses...it will not charge anywhere EXCEPT in a house socket....and now...after only a short time, it will not charge at all! Too much money for a bad charging performance

    I've never had good luck with a Skycaddie product or with their customer support. It seems their devices always stop working just after the warranty runs out.

      You definitely must have had bad luck then. I'm still using my sgx from like 6 years ago no problems

    Hi Andy, is there an annual charge for this as we'll?

    • @MarkJohnson-bs4hp

      I believe there is the usual Skycaddie annual charge

      Depends what you need. UK alone is £30 for a year. Continental which includes UK, Europe, Africa and Middle East is £40 per year or £100 for 3 years . Worldwide is £45 per year or £75 for 3 years - you can see these on the Skycaddie website

      No problem. They are good and you know that the yardage has been mapped by someone walking the course. Others have not so any changes can take years to be applied. I emailed Golfbuddy more than 3 years ago and they have just modified one of my suggested changes.

    A subscription on top of the price of the unit ? I will pass.

    • @MrDaryboy
      @MrDaryboy 5 лет назад

      I think the first year or two is free on subscription with purchase. At least I know my sgx was when I bought it a few years ago.

      if you just play local its only 30$ if complain about tht for a gps unit that's way better that's up to you oviously

      Bryan Hylok my point was to learn to use a map and compass. A GPS unit is far less rugged.

    It's a lot cheaper than the garmin s62.

    This is the biggest waist of money I've spent so far on golf merchandise so far, there is just too much going on to concentrate on the game.....I you could see then dang think in the sun it might be a little more user friendly. Unfortunately, it'd take a group 6 hours to play if they all used one of these things...I chunked it and return to my skycaddy V4 w/voice on my viser along with a Bushnell laser rangefinder....less to think about. Think I'll give it to my worse enemy.

    • @bryanhylok9961
      @bryanhylok9961 4 года назад

      i use it and takes me less than 3 hours to play a round not any different than a rangefinder which takes longer really
