Great video ! Currently in Medical Assisting School and we start CPR class today, I have my First aid and CPR certification already, but it's almost time to recertify anyway. I feel more confident and ready than I ever did! Thank you 💕💕
Lol I wish they had added that "upper limit" for compression depth sooner. I got CPR in 2009 and my sternum was BUSTED for like a week and a half. Hurt to sit up or do anything involving raising my arms. Also great video! Thanks
Why do you not head tilt / chin lift while assessing breathing? What about obstructed airways? Additionally, you did not mention agonal respiration, why only start CPR with no respiration at all and not with agonal respiration or extremely slow respiration, too?
Hi Spec. What we're doing is teaching you the AHA guidelines. Both obstructed airways and "hands only" CPR is covered in our full course. This CPR video is only part of our course and meant to instruct in the CPR process only. Remember, we now begin CPR with compressions (CAB) so you wouldn't tilt the head when assessing breathing before starting compressions. I hope that helps. Our website address is www.icpri.com if you would like to take one of our courses.
I have a question. If the victim is someone who has had a large impact to their head I.e a motorbike crash and they sent breathing but they're clearly dead (even if they look like they could have survived) do you just proceed and start cpr?
There are a couple of typos Frazzle so I'm a little unsure of the question. It appears that you want to know if you should begin CPR if a victim has suffered head trauma and isn't breathing. I'm not sure what you mean by "even if they look like they could have survived". I don't want to give you the wrong opinion so could you please rephrase the question?
International CPR Institute I mean like if someone has very bad head trauma do you still do it... like if I see someone crash a motorbike badly and it's clear they have died on impact is it worth doing?
That's a judgement call Frazzle. I would check for breathing and begin CPR if the victim is not breathing. Unless you're a doctor, I wouldn't try and pronounce death but I would perform CPR until help arrives.
Hi Clementina. We are sorry for such a late response. If you have not taken a class yet, and would like to do so out of the comfort of your home, please head to www.icpri.com and check out our website and classes!
