Benchmade is nice, but damn, the ergonomics on that Spyderco are on point! It feels as if Spyderco makes their knives to fit perfectly into my hand. I'll take Spyderco over Benchmade any day.
I went to a knife store today with the intention to buy a bugout. I never handled one, and I’ve never owned a spyderco or handled one for that matter. I walked away with a Para 3 g10 with CPM s45vn. The bugout just felt so cheap to me, too light. They’re beautiful, but I personally don’t like them. I get why people do, I just don’t.
As someone who also owns both knives, the Bugout wins for me all day. I love the Para 3 in hand but hate it in the pocket. The Bugout feels great both ways and is more customizable. Not saying you are wrong by any means. Just my $.02
This is coming you four years late but if you get this message could you please let us know what you think of your copper scales? I love the look, but am concerned copper is a bit too soft, but would be very happy to be proved wrong.

I think glocks are highly overrated personally and so long as you CLEAN AND MAINTAIN YOUR GUNS damn near any gun is as reliable as a glock but to each there own
Excellent video. Both knives are excellent for EDC. Personally I think the Para 3 is easier to mod. You get used to dealing with the lanyard hole. The pocket clip from the Para 3 is a great tool to use to pry the G10 scales off of the knife. I think the Para 3 has more options for modification. Knives Plus offers acid stone washing for the blade. DLT Trading, Knives Plus, Sharp Dressed Knives, RGT and Metin Boss offer excellent scales for the Para 3 one of the best tips for the Para 3 is to sand the lanyard hole on new scales. It helps the lanyard hole fit better. It is a ton of fun to customize both knives. And it is wort the effort to have a EDC knife that is uniquely your own
I like the para 3 better. Maxamet is sweet but can chip. Had a small chip on the top of spine on the tip. Tip is intact but I had to sand the spine down slightly to blend it back in. Would’ve gone with m390 if I could go back. Para 3 all the way tho. Much bigger than I expected as well. Love it. My rotation is the kapara, para 3, and Sonoma
I like the look, blade shape, lock style and weight of the bugout. But the Para 3 has a finger choil and I love the versatility of having a finger choil.
I still have the original pocket clip on my para3 and it doesn’t bother me at all. It’s tough enough for I kno it’s not gonna fall out, and I personally like having a little more of the knife to grab onto when I go to pull it out of my pocket
Also having the clip slightly further down makes the knife much more comfortable to hold. Deep carry clips are nice, but for a real working knife the Spydie clips are great.
I don't know if this is something that others care about, but personally I value the steel choice in the Para 3. Outside of the Gold Class, you are stuck with S30V on a bugout. The Para 3 is available in CTS-BD1N, S30V, S35VN, S110V, Maxamet, and many other sprint runs that can be found on the secondary market. Personally I love the way carbon steels age and patina, especially when paired with micarta scales. I hope to do this with a Maxamet Para 3 someday soon (and get a bronze lanyard tube so I don't have to worry about the crappy stock one). I have yet to see any bugouts in anything other than S30V (barring the prohibitively expensive Gold Class)
You can get the Bugout in 20CV, S90V and M4 sprint runs, and you can get it in all three at any time by ordering custom from their website. Benchmade doesn’t do as many sprint runs as Spyderco though, but sometimes that’s a good thing considering how quickly sprint runs sell out and how short they run, it’s like they make all this cool shit that you can’t have unless you buy on release before it has been reviewed (performance, heat treat, etc.) or pay a premium like the ridiculous $300+ some places were charging for the CRUWEAR sprint runs after week 1 when everyone started praising it.
I have the s45vn and the BD1N, although BD1n is a bit outdated imo .But that is something i do care about as you do , although also imo s30v is the best all around blade steel available , for practical use purposes
I have the 535 and I really don’t like it that much mainly because of the axis lock I’ve had the knife for 6 months and already broke an omega spring and it’s a pain in the ass to switch out.
I watched reviews and googled the shit out of my phone. The point i came to an conclusion was as i searched: Benchmade issues Spyderco issues Jup... i will buy the para.
I just picked up a Bugout jade G-10 in 20cv, I've had it for about a week now and its taken the place of my s35vn para2.. The thin-ness in the pocket is noticeable for me.. I am more of a spydie fan and I love the gimping on the para knifes, but the benchmade caught my eye initially with the cool scales
considering the bugout in s30v with literally no liners and plastic scales is the same price as a para 3 with liners and g10 scales in s45vn it’s literally a no brainer
lost my first spyderco para 3 a week ago at the beach. been carrying that knife for years. decided to check out other knifes when I went to purchase. it was between these two knives. decided to buy another para 3. the GOAT in my opinion. Ill buy the bugout as a secondary knife cause it is a good looking knife.
I have both of these knives, it is difficult to chose one because I love them both. But gun to my head it would be the Para 3 simply because I’ve had a omega spring failure and unless you have had one you don’t understand how much it sucks. So the deciding factor is the dependability of the Para 3.
I'm a lefty and went with the black/black s30v para3..what killed the bugout for me was the firstly the position of the thunbstuds being too close to the handle for me to comfortably operate..the para 3 just feels better especially because of the 50/50 choil and i prefer spyderco's pivot assembly.soo much easier to dial in 😉
Looking to purchase one or the other and a big thing for me working in the trades is the durability. I’m not trying to pull the blade out and it possibly crapping the bed on me because of a faulty spring. Thank you for your video. Going with the PM3 and getting a deep carry pocket clip to pair with it
Pm3 all day. Buyout has a weakness the omega spring can break. And stuff can get jammed up inside of the bugout. Pm3 make much more sense. Just my opinion
I love both and can say there are aftermarket Omega springs for the Bugout that are better, that are inexpensive, so the spring in the end may not be a grading factor. I carry both. Depends on my mood 🤪
The blue bugout was the first "high end" knife I ever purchased. It was almost the last. I thought, "Wow, I paid how much for this?" It felt so cheap and flimsy. I'm sure it's a good knife but just wasn't for me. For about $15 more I could get a para 3 with g10 and it doesn't feel like a Fisher Price toy. I could have purchased aftermarket scales that might have helped, but spending another $65-80 to outfit a $120 knife is like buying a $2,500 car and putting $1000 rims. Didn't make sense to me when I can get what I want for just a few dollars more.
So, what does that say for a 940? Since Bugout plus aftermarket scales comes out less than that sometimes. Depending on the scales. Same blade steel and slicier blade on the bugout
I love these battles and you are Slicey Dicey are two of my new favorite gear reviewers 👍. I just discovered you guys, recently. I just got my first I own a couple bugouts and I really do love the design. I have one in its regular configuration and one with aluminum after market scales and I really love the scales. They only cost $60. Now the para 3 is the one with the S35 steel and the desert tan scales and satin blade I really love that one as well. I got a Casey Lynch deep carry titanium clip colt , bronze and you’re correct zero hot spots for the most part. I really think I’m keeping both knives. I will say I like the aesthetics of the para 2 a little better than the 3 . I think maybe they could make the para 3 blade a little more streamline, just a little. I do like the para 3 more then I thought I would. Spyderco knock it out of the park on this one. Anyway, great content as usual 👍!
Ty for reminding me how awesome my wife is. She supports my new knife hobby. Much cheaper than my pew pew hobby. Just started a few months ago. Been getting at least 1 knife a week 🤫
Just got my first para 3 recently and watching the video three years later it’s interesting to see them still being a staple and the price differences over the years
Man, I just picked up my first one today. Got it for 145 (retail was 189) because they price matched some old website I found. S45Vn steel. And man do I love it. there is just something about it. I think I'm a Spyderco guy now.
I don't have either one, but have held both, and out of the box (and I don't mod), I'd go with a para 3 as it doesn't feel like a plastic trainer knife. Thanks for the comparison.
The omega spring broke on my first Benchmade knife. It was a Mini Ruckus in S30V that I bought in about 2005. The spring broke in 2017. Maybe it would have broken sooner if I'd used it more? I don't know, but I still like Benchmade.
I'm a huge spyderco guy, with that being said. I would take thr bugout over the Para 3 any day, reason is.. the bugouts lock is easier to manipulate one handed, better factory clip, very slim foot print, ultra light. And the neutral handle ergonomics lend themselves to my large hands better than the more sculpted para 3. I have some rockscale design titanium scales for my bugout, and flytanium titanium scales for my Para 3. I gotta say, the bugout after a scale swap is a perfect EDC knife.
I have both, and much prefer the benchmade. Allthough Im not sure about the springs in the lock and how well they will hold up. Its not a knife i would want in a bugout situation, thats for sure. But its so much lighter than the para, and can do the same job. And in my experience, the edge holds up better.
Still curious about the Benchmade Barrage. Never had one because I have 5 Griptilians and I prefer manual to assisted, but I can be reasonable. Is it a good tool?
Hey, I just wanted to add my 2 cents in on the barrage. I agree with you on the assisted vs manual open. I had a barrage that sat in a drawer for 10 years because I didn’t like the assisted open. I’m not to the age where I need assistance opening my knife...👍
I love Benchmade knives and the Bugout. I own several Benchmade's, including a Bugout, that I love to death, and use them a lot. Will continue to buy Benchmade's I like. I have to say though that the Spyderco Paramilitary 3 and Paramilitary 2 just feel better in hand and functionally IMO. The spydy hole and the compression lock are just AMAZING. IMO somewhat better than the small thumbnails and Axis lock system Benchmade uses on the Bugout. Either way. IMO you can't go wrong with a Bugout or a Paramilitary. They are both top of the line EDC knives with great steel and great ease of use.
Definitely agree! I own quite a few Benchmade knives. The ones that I purchased are of nice quality and I like them a lot. With that said though, the Spyderco para military 2 and para 3 are just spot on perfect in my opinion. Recently, obtained a para 3 that has blue/ purple scales. Super cool knife.
I agree with everything you said except , i dont veiw the bugout as a great edc unless you are going for discreet carry or lightweight loadouts . Theres better options for every day use imo
Para 3 is cooler and grabs the eye. Bug out is super plain and if you asked the average guy to guess the price of the bugout i promise they are saying under 50 lol. Obviously enthusiasts are aware of the quality of the bug out and BOTH are awesome but i ended up going with the para 3. Awesome comparison video btw learned alot
I live in the UK and own several knives from both companies. In terms of product, I actually prefer my Spydercos, but I had reason to contact the company a while ago and had absolutely zero response from Spyderco to both email and a message sent via their website. Benchmade, on the other hand, was superb. My next knife will be a Spyderco, but my poor customer service experience does spoil things a bit.
Wow all the hoopla about the Para 3 clip. If you actually use your knife and make aggressive cuts, the standard para 3 clip vanishes in your hand. The deep carry puts a nice hot spot in the back if your palm. Leave the standard clip on and big deal if a little more sticks out if your pocket. Easier to get out.
I broke the omega springs on my Bugout, mostly due to over fidgeting 😂. I took the opportunity to swap the scales to G10, and love the knife even more. Thinking of getting the Para 3 for camping and not risk breaking omega springs during an extended trip, while still keeping the Bugout as my EDC 😊
The egonomics are better but a cf s90v bugout edges out the para 3 on days i want to carry the finer things in life .scotch instead of whiskey that day
@@ScoopsTV no shit, the op said scotch over whiskey, but both are a whiskey. You could call scotch whiskey if you wanted, however if you wanted to make a distinct difference to an analogy, bourbon over scotch or vice versa, because both are whiskeys both both can’t be a bourbon or a scotch.
I have both of these knives and I think the Bugout looks better, but if I had to pick between the two, I'd go with the PM3 for simplicity and fidget factor.
@@GBall_Vision got the regular S30v one, and that’s a fine steel. Its great, ergonomics in hand are the best I experienced I guess. But the cutting edge is just a bit short to my personal preference, so I do see a PM2 in the future. But the P3 has earneda place in my EDC top 3, other two being Grip S20 and the 940. Enjoy yours! Wondering how this maxamet works btw. 🤔
I’ve broken 3 sets of omega springs. I habitually flip my Bugout open and closed. Usually an hour or more a day. At that rate the springs will last 3+ weeks before they break. That’s the reason for multiple sets used. Completely on me.
Bugout is definitely better in pocket, but I am Para 3 (or PM2) all day every day. I had 17 BM knives with Axis locks…940s, Bugouts, and Mini Bugouts; 7 ended up with broken Omega springs and it wasn’t from using one sided activation of the Axis lock….don’t think I’ll ever own another Benchmade Axis lock knife…ever…unless they’d actually send out replacement springs instead of having to ship the knife and wait.
Scored a maxamet para3 from the factory second sale and have a CF Elite Bugout coming in next week. I’ll finally catch up to 2017 and can finally compare for myself. I do like the para3 a lot so far, but still prefer the pm2
I couldn’t agree with you more. I have had both knives, and for ease of use the para 3 wins. The bugout is a great knife, your mods are awesome. I like both the compression and axis locks. If I had to pick one, I’d go for the axis lock for the fidget fun factor. That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with a compression lock though. Excellent vid as always 👍
Like 6 oz. In my back pocket and i dont even notice it. Carry my shaman in my back pocket. Things a tank. Never notice it. I own both these knives... im a through and through spyderco guy any day of the week. I carry the bugout more than my pm3. Not sure why. But i do.
Which one wins? Neither. Own them both. My edc rotation is 1901 bugout, 52100 para 3, mantra 2, blurple nat 5 lw and 940-1501. Love all. Bought DLT para 3 lw and its not near the knife of the para 3 52100.
Hey there MC. Don't have a Bugout or a Para 3 but I do have two full sized Griptilians one Mini Griptilian and one Mini Freek and I'd like to share my experiences with omega springs. The mini Griptilian was two days shy of being a month old when both omega springs broke. Weird, I know, but true. Sent it to Benchmade (on my dime) and they fixed the problem and quickly returned the repaired knife to me. Approximately two months later, one of its omegas broke and after notifying Benchmade of the situation, they had me send the knife to them on their dime. They quickly fixed and returned the knife back to me. Now, I'm a retired/disabled 64 year old, old bastard and the hardest use any of my knives see is opening mail and packages (mostly knife packages). I do however fidget with them A LOT on a daily basis but none of my knives are abused in any way unless you consider fidgeting to be abuse. As of today, the omegas on the mini Griptilian are doing fine, (knock on wood) Recently, the mini Freek broke one of its omegas and after sending it in (on my dime) Benchmade repaired and returned it and, so far so good. LOVE the action on my Mini Freek. It is truly drop shutty. Now, after having related my problems with broken omega springs, you'll notice that in both instances, the knives were minis. The two full sized Griptilians (one with the Spydie hole and the other with thumb studs) have wonderful actions and have never given me any problem despite (probably) more than their fair share of fidget time. While speaking with a Benchmade rep on the phone, I asked if there was a difference between the omegas in their full sized versus the minis. She told me that was proprietary info so she simply couldn't say one way or the other. Sorry for writing a novel here but I wanted to share my experience with omega springs which is probably not typical. I'm sure most people will never experience a broken omega but, if they do, Benchmade will quickly rectify the problem. Anyway, keep up the good work MC. Really enjoy watching your videos. Have a good one (or several if possible).
Had to get a para3 LW it's a nice knife but the action on my bugout is way better I'll use my para3 for things l don't won't to mess my Bugouts up with..The bd1n is a good bit faster to sharpen for me Great comparison 👍👊
I'm glad you brought that up, because mine broke lol I've only had it for about 5 months. So how often should I be oiling my knife? And yes Benchmade's warranty is Awesome they fixed it and it's on the way back to me:)) and boy do I miss it lol.
@@metal_complex not real helpful putting oil on a spring that it’s not going to help. Metal doesn’t absorb oil and you pretty much said it did in the video. That’s not accurate. Just junky springs is all you can get of it. There hope that’s accurate and helpful
@@poorboysedcandflashlights5934 it absolutely will keep it from developing corrosion, which could weaken it and cause it to break. I apply it to all of my axis lock style knives, and after multiple years, have never had an issue. So I stand by what I said. Not accurate, and not helpful.
@@metal_complex lol explain my two week old blade HQ Bugout breaking and they was several of those broke. They aren’t going to corrode unless you lay them in water. But I guess you’re entitled to your opinion as I am but oiling an omega spring is DEFINITELY not a part of maintenance 🤷🏼♂️
I dont have to explain your knife's failure, nor do I have to place any stock in it. My axis lock knives all work fine, and I've been applying oil to the omega springs. Thats all the information I need to move forward. Sorry yours didn't work. 🤷♂️
Sometimes I think that Spyderco is deliberately NOT changing the design and placement of their standard pocket clips so that the aftermarket sales from LynchNW / MXG would continue to fuel the frenzy for more Spyderco knives in the future, kind of like a self-feeding loop.
I went to a knife shop today and checked out the Bugout and Bugout mini and they felt way too light and flimsy to me. That is why I prefer the Griptilian. I like the heft and size of it in my hand. Just feels more sturdy and substantial.
My griptilian feels strong but the plastic feels brittle and has a couple hot spots , I like the mini adamas or the grizzley ridge a little better but something about the griptilian keeps it in my rotation
I have the Para 3 LW and the Bugout. I tend to carry the Bugout way more. I've never owned another version of the Para 3 but I would probably carry it more if it had G10 scales. I really like the blade shape of the Bugout too.
Para3 is a better knife but a worse EDC. It’s more comfortable and has a more practical design when in use, but it’s also clunky and doesn’t sit straight in your pocket and is significantly heavier and more noticeable throughout the day. Benchmade’s s30v is also much better than Spyderco’s and the 20CV Bugout has the best EDC blade I’ve ever used, though the Maxamet Spyderco’s are king in terms of edge retention. Whatever you do, don’t get the s110v Para3, it doesn’t hold an edge anywhere near as long as you would think (20CV is better in my experience) and is an absolute pain to sharpen, even with an edgepro, it just fights you through the entire sharpening process.
para 3 LW is a much better comparison to the bugout than the standard para3 .I have 4 bugouts 20cv ,m4 ,s30v, s90v and 5 Para 3 lw's m4,m390,spy27, rex45, 4v I choose the para3 lw all day . Plus I got through omega springs like toilet paper... the compression lock has never let me down..
I own 3 bugouts and a pm2, i dont own a pm3. That being said i absolutely love my bugouts for certain tasks but i love my pm2 for other tasks. I carry a bugout and para 2 every day. Certain places i wont pull the para for fear of looks from normies when that big marlin spike deploys lol. Illuse the bugout for when im in places or around people , where pulling a smaller more " pocket knife" looking blade wont draw too much unwanted attention. When im cutting bigger shit or just in places where people dont give a fuck about a knife being pulled out and used as a tool, ill use the para 2. If i had to pick only 1 i guess id say para 2 cause its a tank and more useful overall. But i do love my bugouts lol
So, why do all you guys complain so much about pocket clips that aren’t deep carry? Deeper carry is just going to make it harder to get out of your pocket. Is it just another RUclips knife rule that pocket clips are bad unless they hide your knife completely? I much prefer the stock clip on the para3 to any of the aftermarket stuff, it actually works better than deep carry knives. Serious question, if you’re so concerned about deep carry, why not just remove the clip completely? Also, I carried a Benchmade 710, had to replace Omega springs twice. Benchmade’s warranty sucks if you have an out of production knife. They could not replace the blade on a 710 McHenry & Williams and thought it was unreasonable for me to expect that on a 15 year old knife. I guess limited lifetime warranty means less than 15 years old.
The new smock absolutely shits on the bugout better pocket feel and nicer in every way possible The para 3 was nicer I’m every way but just didn’t have that pocket feel some people want
I agreee para 3 and I own a para 3 and a bugout I watched this video Bc I’m thinking of getting another bugout that’s more rigid feeling and I decided ima go with it I like lines of the bugout more and I’m used to it’s deployment more then iam the para 3 so ima go with the bugout but overall I can’t deny para 3 I’m jus a bit more biased
As hard as I try , the spyderco hole just doesn't work as simply as the thumbs-up. And I prefer the Axis lock as well. I have 5 benchmades and 0 spydercos.
I cannot wait, I have the Para 3 in Maxamat coming in to me. I do like the Bugout though. I will be getting a backspacer and yellow G10 scales for it. I will get CF scales and backspacer with anodized titanium fasteners for the Para 3. I love that I can make them unique to my tastes.
I own both and I absolutely love both I own several benchmades and several spydercos among alot of other great knives like zero.tolerance and Kershaw and civivi and crjb
I can an do operate my Para 3 left handed, being predominantly right handed I find no issue operating the compression lock with my left thumb. Try it, to me it is easier
Benchmade is nice, but damn, the ergonomics on that Spyderco are on point! It feels as if Spyderco makes their knives to fit perfectly into my hand. I'll take Spyderco over Benchmade any day.
I hit the like button because I've never heard Tony Stark do a knife review. Once you hear it? You can't unhear it.
I also get Tom Hanks, and the guy who voices the lead character in "How to Train Your Dragon."

I have both of these knives, it is difficult to chose one because I love them both. But gun to my head it would be the Para 3 simply because I’ve had a omega spring failure and unless you have had one you don’t understand how much it sucks. So the deciding factor is the dependability of the Para 3.
I’ve never handled a Bugout. But I’m riding with the Para 3! I think it’s mainly the hole that’s got me sold.
I do want a bugout though.
I'm a lefty and went with the black/black s30v para3..what killed the bugout for me was the firstly the position of the thunbstuds being too close to the handle for me to comfortably operate..the para 3 just feels better especially because of the 50/50 choil and i prefer spyderco's pivot assembly.soo much easier to dial in 😉
So what’s the difference between the pm2 and the para 3? Also does Spyderco offer a sharpening service for there knives?
Looking to purchase one or the other and a big thing for me working in the trades is the durability. I’m not trying to pull the blade out and it possibly crapping the bed on me because of a faulty spring. Thank you for your video. Going with the PM3 and getting a deep carry pocket clip to pair with it
Pm3 all day. Buyout has a weakness the omega spring can break. And stuff can get jammed up inside of the bugout. Pm3 make much more sense. Just my opinion
Para 3 all the way...
Yea
GU high love

Both omega springs broke on my 3 month old 940...
I did not use it that hard, and still...
Bad luck?
Bad luck for sure. I'm going on 10 years and 30+ Benchmades with zero failures.
My wife would kill me if I had 5 knives. All of you edc guys that have multiple knives are so lucky
I know, right. The bugout feels like it was made by Fisher Price.
@@sharpwhits0167, exactly. It's probably great in Ti, or if there were SS scales, would give it some meatiness.
They were designed for different things. You're comparing apples to oranges.
@@evictioncarpentry2628, I get that, also personal preference and feel.
Not really. I'd say more like apples to slightly different apples. They're both edc knives.
The omega spring broke on my first Benchmade knife. It was a Mini Ruckus in S30V that I bought in about 2005. The spring broke in 2017. Maybe it would have broken sooner if I'd used it more? I don't know, but I still like Benchmade.
Dang 12 years. That's pretty good
I'm a huge spyderco guy, with that being said.
Ps i hate the lanyard hole on the para 3
How wide is the para 3 closed from top of spydie hole to bottom of the scales
A Mac R.B.R.T bit will prevent stripping and also remove stripped screws, most of the time.
I have both. Without a doubt they are both great knives. If I had to pick only one, the para 3 slightly out edges the bugout.
The egonomics are better but a cf s90v bugout edges out the para 3 on days i want to carry the finer things in life .scotch instead of whiskey that day
@@ScoopsTVscotch is a type of whiskey. I’d say bourbon over scotch. That makes more sense.
@@andrewbertubin7634 scotch and bourbon are both types of whiskey
@@ScoopsTV no shit, the op said scotch over whiskey, but both are a whiskey. You could call scotch whiskey if you wanted, however if you wanted to make a distinct difference to an analogy, bourbon over scotch or vice versa, because both are whiskeys both both can’t be a bourbon or a scotch.
@andrewbertubin7634 The statement " Scotch over whiskey " is common amongst scotch drinkers meaning scotch over every other type of whiskey
I like my para 3 better
But the problem is, I also like my bugout better.
I have both of these knives and I think the Bugout looks better, but if I had to pick between the two, I'd go with the PM3 for simplicity and fidget factor.
Bugout is my choice. It's one of my favorite knives. I do want a Para 3 with G10 scales though. Mine is the LW version.
Just bought my first para 3. Coming in tomorrow. So i wil find out!
Did you get the maxamet ? How do you like it? I just ordered one tonight
Where did you get the pocket clip for the bugout?????
It's a benchmade standard deep carry clip 👍
I’ve broken 3 sets of omega springs. I habitually flip my Bugout open and closed. Usually an hour or more a day. At that rate the springs will last 3+ weeks before they break. That’s the reason for multiple sets used. Completely on me.
I love both, they each have better points so I just carry both at the same time. Good vid
I would like to see a parts list for the bugout build looks like aftermarket axis bar as well.
Like 6 oz. In my back pocket and i dont even notice it. Carry my shaman in my back pocket. Things a tank. Never notice it. I own both these knives... im a through and through spyderco guy any day of the week. I carry the bugout more than my pm3. Not sure why. But i do.
Ive tried and tried to get used to the axis lock but i just dont like it. I choose Spyderco any day of the week.
How you like the new scales on the bugout?
I have thousands spent on knives and the para 3 lightweight has been my favorite edc I have ever owned.
As of today, the omegas on the mini Griptilian are doing fine, (knock on wood)
Recently, the mini Freek broke one of its omegas and after sending it in (on my dime) Benchmade repaired and returned it and, so far so good.
Great comparison vid! Could you please provide a link to the deep carry clip you have on your para 3? Thanks! Bob
Most people are going with MXG gear or Casey Lynch 👊
Great video! I have both and I couldn’t agree with you more, Para 3 for the win!
I'm probably one of the few people who think that para 3 looks much better
Well they werent really made for the eye but more for the practical use :) but i love it too, awesome knife!
Lol. Big girls need love too Craig.
Had to get a para3 LW it's a nice knife but the action on my bugout is way better I'll use my para3 for things l don't won't to mess my Bugouts up with..The bd1n is a good bit faster to sharpen for me Great comparison 👍👊
Action is better on the bugout and what is up with that carry clip on the lightweight ? thing is flimsy. I like them both though
I'm glad you brought that up, because mine broke lol I've only had it for about 5 months. So how often should I be oiling my knife? And yes Benchmade's warranty is Awesome they fixed it and it's on the way back to me:)) and boy do I miss it lol.
I want a para 3 so freaking bad. I love you Mr. Metal Complex ✌🏻
Hey MC, Are those Grey G-10 scales on your P.M. 2 ?
its a para 3 its maxamet steel comes with grey g10 scales. its about $200
Broke my omega springs after only 3 months of owning the M390 Bugout with aluminum scales. Still prefer it over my PM2.
Oil doesn’t sink into omega springs so it doesn’t matter if you oil or not. Just crap springs as I’ve had one break in my blade hq Bugout.
This isn't accurate or helpful information for anyone. Sorry.
I got the bug out in s90v and the Mannis in cruwear both are good knives
I love the Hogue Deka much better than the bug out... Now I'm in a quandary about it or the para 3 in s45vn...
spydie all day. good pick
Both are nice but have flaws for the price to me. Is there another alternative competition that’s maybe better?
Sometimes I think that Spyderco is deliberately NOT changing the design and placement of their standard pocket clips so that the aftermarket sales from LynchNW / MXG would continue to fuel the frenzy for more Spyderco knives in the future, kind of like a self-feeding loop.
Its like the para 4 is just the para 3 with no lanyard hole and proper clip placement
Can’t you G-10 scales for the Grip?
I love your mod to the bugout. Have you created a video showing how to do that? I definitely want your scales on my bugout
Look up “bench made bugout flytanium scales” hope this helps..
The P3 is the best pocket knife and I always have really liked the look of the P3 and manix2 both knifes are so awesome but the para3 is the best💯
Very thorough. Nice job!
Para 3 for me. Feels way sturdier
Bugout all the way.. can’t get past the spyderco blade shape. I’m sure it’s a great knife though
The Bugout doesn’t come with Flytanium scales as an option, but it’s an aftermarket option.
Who is this comment for? I know that because I installed them, and my audience knows that because I said it in the video 🤔
I have both the bugout and para 3 lightweight and I love them both but if I had to pick I’d do with the bugout.
The only thing I do not like about spider CO paramilitaries are the tips they look way too thin
1.86 Oz. Sir on the Bugout :))
Ironic. I was playing with my S110V Para 3 when I chanced upon this video. I guess it's clear which of these two I would choose.
As hard as I try , the spyderco hole just doesn't work as simply as the thumbs-up. And I prefer the Axis lock as well. I have 5 benchmades and 0 spydercos.
Damn they’ve gone way up my s110 para3 was 215 and maxamet was $240
I cannot wait, I have the Para 3 in Maxamat coming in to me. I do like the Bugout though. I will be getting a backspacer and yellow G10 scales for it. I will get CF scales and backspacer with anodized titanium fasteners for the Para 3. I love that I can make them unique to my tastes.
I own both and I absolutely love both I own several benchmades and several spydercos among alot of other great knives like zero.tolerance and Kershaw and civivi and crjb
whatup daniel, Just got me my first civivi, for a china knife its pretty nice
@@ScoopsTV wut up buddy yea man civivi is pretty nice I know a couple myself hope all is well
I can an do operate my Para 3 left handed, being predominantly right handed I find no issue operating the compression lock with my left thumb.
Try it, to me it is easier
I really love benchmade but I really hate the bugout , it feels too cheap , for me it's para3 all the way !
This was an incredibly good video. Answered all my questions, in a way a knife moron like me could understand. Thank you!
Axis is just a better lock design. Compression locks are great, until you get a sticky one. Spyderco won't fix them when defective sometimes.
I own both but I seem to carry my blackout bugout more. It takes up less pocket space with a bit more blade.
