She was expecting a VIP that starts buying everything she sees, asking for croc this croc that and $10k coats etc. and you were more target at what you wanted. My SA has told me she has vips that spend $40k in one dress only. Shipped from NY boutique.
I applaud your constant honesty in your videos. Even if you had an upsetting time you tell us the truth. That is a rarity in social media so feel amazing about yourself. I’ve had times like that and I take it so personally but it really says more about the other person. Maybe she was counting on making a good commission from you and couldn’t hide her disappointment when dealing with you. It’s not you as a person as she didn’t even get to know you. Dayle would’ve forced her to react with her big grin and sparkly eyes whereas your anxiety probably showed through a bit. Big hugs to you and can’t wait to see what you got x

I was working on getting a bag and was offered a Kelly 28 in epsom gold and gold hardware. I turned it down. I lost my desire for Hermes. Just stopped caring about it. I find it so offensive the way they have to like you to provide you services or offer a bag. You should not have been treated that way. Dayle is a good friend! I’m glad so was with you. What a terrible experience. You are very likable. I’m sorry you were treated that way. The fact that spending thousands of dollars on a bag and have to hope you are worthy enough to be offered one is insulting and rude. And the comment what are you going to buy is beyond incredible rude. I guess they will continue to treat customers like this if we continue to purchase their stuff.

This is the good side of the internet, the friendships you make based on a mutual love of something. It’s so nice to hear and I’m happy you did actually walk away with a bag (after all that stress).
Dayle is one of the best things to come from RUclips! I’m lucky to have found her.
I personally feel like how we are dressed, does in fact matter. I went into a few luxury stores in my new state I moved to, and they looked at me like I was homeless, I was wearing shorts, shirt and sandals. Definitely casual, but my money is as green as someone in a dress and heels so that really turned me off going in again. I know I’ll go into those stores again, but I will make effort on my appearance in future.

What a wretched woman! I give you girls so much credit for tolerating her absolute BS and both coming out on top! This type of behavior has to stop. WE are the customers and I would fire any employee who treated a customer in this way.

Oh Meredith, I am so sorry your experience with the SA in Hermes was not as you had hoped it would be, especially seeing as how stressed you already were about the appointment . It is definitely a reflection on the SA, not on you. However, I am so glad that Dayle was with you and helped ease your nerves, and build a rapport with the "chilly" SA. I had a lottery appointment in Paris a few months ago. I did not get offered a QB. The sales associate was very cold and I also asked for her details and was told they do not have cards and do not give out details, I need to reapply. I think they have massively clamped down in Paris. They are not there to create relationships. I think they know they don’t need the business but ironically they need customers. Going back in a week will try again but not as stressed or pushed about it. Like you mentioned it is just a bag. I also think a brand should make you feel good but I feel Hermès is very good at making us feel bad in order to make us keep coming back for their approval. None the less I will keep trying for a Birkin.
Try a different Parisian store rather than their flagship one if it’s the bag that matters. I bet the service is much nicer.

Hi, if you were in Paris around fashion week, they will not have stock in Hermes Paris. The shop assistant probably thought you were going to be spending mega money on commissionable items like the jewellery and watches. When she realised you weren’t going to, that could have turned her off you. Can’t wait to see what you bought ❤

Her entire job is customer service and to be a vip service perosn she has a history in the the company, any vip means be service oriented, i am amazed she made it so obvious she didn't like you and liked dayle

You don't know how much I wanted to rewrite the end of this story. Here's my wish. You politely look at the SA and thank her for her time, politely turn on your heels and leave the store. You and Dayle take the money you would've dropped in Hermes and go have a wonderful, decadent lunch and split a bottle of fabulous wine then maybe pop into a store worthy of your time and money. 🥰
But then I wouldn’t have the bag I love. The experience was over in a few hours, the bag I have forever.

So this lady might have just been a spoiled person used to wealthy people charming her all the time. As someone who is neither from an Anglo-Saxon country nor French (although I used to live in Paris and speak French well ) I also suspect it might be subtleties in culture. I feel Australians aren’t as blunt as Americans 😂 but still more blunt than French. So when you told the story „don’t bring me a neutral bag please“ and „this is the Color palette we are working with“ - or way earlier „and a bag!“ 😅 - that might have been way too blunt for a Parisian setting. Don’t forget Parisians have a rep of being stuck up and arrogant in the rest of France 😂

I'm glad Dale helped out. BBF. You can be sure you weren't gonna get her card. Not only were you mistreated but you had a witness.

Given I was picky and specific I think I did very well to get exactly what I wanted. I would not have accepted something I didn’t want.
Oh I'm so sorry the Hermes experience wasn't as magical and wonderful as one would hope and expect. I think for me, I'd be a bit saddened at the actual experience and of the memory of it. What a crazy experience! I am not partial to the FSH store and solely shop at Sevres where I have the SWEETEST SA that always secures appointments for me. My first ever appointment with her was via the online system and she offered me a mini kelly. She couldn't get me a quota bag last time so she gave me a special order. So there definitely are good SA's out there! I'm so so sorry you had a bad experience, but glad you got a bag in the end! ♥

I watched Dayle’s video last night, so I had to watch from your perspective also. Myself, I find it absolutely ridiculous that you have spent so much $ with a brand and have a VIP appointment with them, only to be treated poorly. Regardless of the situation, that should never happen…anywhere. I’m sorry that the memory will be forever tainted. BUT, ultimately, if the bag you received AND the memories you made with Dayle being there for you, makes you happy, that’s all that matters. ❤❤

Oh Meredith, I am sorry that something that was meant to be so special was diminished by an unprofessional SA. No one should ne made to feel unappreciated in a store especially when you are the one shelling out big bucks for items. To make a client feel unwelcome is not appropriate. I am glad you got your dream bag though. you most certainly deserve it! Also, many many thanks for your (& Dayle's) holiday vlogs, they were super fun. I'm Team LV 100% and I'm really happy for the magical moments they created for YOU and Dayle in Asnières and Paris. After all the critics I have heard about LV in the past: shopping at LV it's not luxury, Hermès is so much better, blablabla ... I heard some similar stories about Chanel btw. The problem with the low stock is not just the result of a marketing strategy but is also due to a too big success worldwide. Hermès want to control the whole production lines. They have opened some new workshops in the french countryside in the past years but it's difficult to find adequate people and to train them to become new artisans. Another reason is probably that you came just before the PFW, a really busy time for the ateliers. Have a nice week!
LV have a much more family feel with how they treat their VIP’s and that will always be why they are my first love.

Dayle only did what she did to help me. She never expected to be offered a bag, but she certainly had the right to buy it if it’s offered.

What you are saying is exactly why I probably never will have an Hermes bag from the boutique. I will not beg someone to take my money. It is also crazy the sales people get to decide if you get a bag or not. Who are they anyway. Some of them can’t afford the bags themselves.

Sorry you had a negative experience with the client advisor at (Paris-Hermes) . You're home with your families and safe, enjoy all the items from the trip. At least you had a good time with Louis Vuitton, forget the (Paris-Hermes). Remember the good times during the trip. Don't rush creating those unboxing videos. Thank you for your honesty and transparency. It’s really crazy that you definitely legitimated yourself to a vip status and a true client back home which enabled you to get this FSH appointment. And then on top they want you to “legitimate” you one more time… it’s a bit tasteless. Purchases should come up from a place of joy and not pressure. Whatever you chose you deserve it and please don’t associate it whit this negative experience.

Aw sorry to hear that you felt she didn't like you. For whatever it's worth it's impossible she wouldn't have liked you for you because that was in no way enough time for her to gauge your vibe. I think perhaps they're used to VIPs being cold and not expecting connection at all so that's the way things are done? I'm glad you got what you wanted!!!!! Sorry the experience was not ideal but the goal was achieved!

Oh Meredith i feel for you & found myself getting quite riled up hearing your story. The fact that she just took a dislike towards you without even knowing you, says a lot more about her than you. Its her job to welcome customers & make them feel comfortable. Hi Meredith, your makeup is beautiful!! I am now watching this video, saw your Hermes bag, it is lovely. Very few people get VIP appointments with Hermes, so the associate needs to show you some respect. Frankly, you should attend the appointments alone. I am happy you walked away with what you wanted. It is very strange for the associate to offer a bag to someone without an appointment. I have been trying to get an appointment for 2 years.
I think going with someone else is completely normal. All the people we saw with leather appointments were in pairs, and all the other VIP’s I talk to take other people with them. However it is unusual for the second person to get an offer.

Hi, I had a similar bad experience at FSH Paris previously too. Was trying to buy shoes and tried my luck to ask for an appointment but the SA serving me was totally rude and condescending. I was only nice and polite but she just didn't like my face I guess. I can't understand why either. Of course no appointment in the end😅. Happy that you managed to get the bag despite all of it. Wow, what an interesting Hermes story. I haven’t heard anything similar before. I have been lucky enough to have gotten to appointments in Paris about 9 months apart through the lottery system. (In my mind I’m a VIP, but Hermes has a different opinion 😀) One at George V and one at FHS. Both appointments had great outcomes. I was fortunate to have “clicked” with both SAs. But if I hadn’t, things might have gone very differently. I know that this is ridiculous materialist stuff, but in the moment it feels so stressful and important. I went to both of the appointments by myself as my husband had zero interest. You’re so lucky to have had a good friend with you and in your corner. Can’t wait for the unboxing!

I too would’ve walked out of that appointment, head held high. Nothing would matter to me more than how I felt at that time. I sometimes think Meredith struggles with knowing the incredible value of her self worth, sadly so many of us do.

The Hermes game is not for me. As a VIP her treatment of you was totally unacceptable. I am happy that you were able to get the bag you wanted but that experience was so off putting. Friendships are more valuable than a bag and I think that experience proved it. I
It’s not always that simple. I was conscious of not doing damage to my relationship with my home store who set up the appointment for me.
Meredith thank you for your honesty, it was difficult to listen to your experience, i feel sorry for this , especially you were sooo looking forward to this meeting. I think VIP or not VIP the sales assistant shouldn’t have treated you or anyone else like this. This is just crazy, you were about to spend a lot of money there and this is the treatment. I hope it didn’t ruin the joy for the bag you purchased at the end. Good to have great friends like Dayle:-)

We put so much pressure on ourselves in these situations, I went for a shopping trip for my birthday this year just to Melbourne from Adelaide and I had put so much pressure on myself and was so excited for it that when I walked into that mall I felt so overwhelmed and almost scared to put myself out there that I didn’t even go into Hermes 🤷♀️😂

I'm so sorry you were treated so poorly at a VIP appointment. It appeared to start out really well! The flowers and presentation were lovely! I've heard that in Paris, Hermes has issues day to day with not receiving shipments of certain items. You might have been there a day when that was the case, and that location was out of stock in items in the normal sizes (supply demand issue). IMHO, Hermes doesn't put out items that are so unique that I would have to put up with rude personnel when spending that much money. The SA probably didn't give you her info in case you would report the poor service to your SA back in Australia. I'd let your SA know anyway in a nice way (thanking them for the appointment, showing them what you got, but mentioning the snarky SA who helped you). I'm glad you found what you were hoping to find, hope you enjoy your new items, and can't wait for the unveiling! (-: Dayle's seems like a great friend! Thanks for sharing your experience!

I’m sorry you had such a difficult time! There are some items from Hermès that I would love to have someday, but will probably never purchase because of their business practices.

Frankly Meredith i have all these from the Hermes store too here with my 2 stores. Then i found one that is very good but still not sure because i told her if the store has the belt that i am looking for, do let me know. So far, no news yet. But she is very helpful. I had previously 2 rude Sales Associate and not just so cold in their attitude is worst than begging, as if i get it for free. I know how you felt. No..no not just take a friend, but take a friend who has the same interest in luxury and partner in crime. I felt that both of you are a blessings for each other 🤩😍

I’m sorry it wasn’t the fabulous experience it should have been. I have no idea why it’s so hard for them to be warm and welcoming. As you say James and Shao are amazing and make it fun etc. However at least you were offered a bag. I would have been furious for you if you didn’t get an offer. I wonder if fashion week had affected the stock levels. X

The French can be delightful & snobbish at the same time. Imagine going to a high-end established restaurant without a lovely jacket on. Well, I think it was that simple. Bring your $$$$ jacket; it shows you care about this special appointment. Yes, you were stressed & exhausted; Thanks to Dayle, the pressure of the day was worked out. You're delightful & the SA was a worker & just getting a job done. Congrats on the purchases & Cheers to that!

A big takeaway message for Aussies in Europe. Always dress up for big occasions, it is kinda not appreciated if you don’t, it’s the culture. Enjoy it .
The problem is what we think is a big occasion is seen differently to what others think in a big occasion. Going shopping is not considered an occasion to dress up for here.
Established multi-billion $$$$$ industry is respected in France. Dislike showing off for the SA but it is a moment in life. Thems the rules. -Lorraine
