Ironically I have the feeling Canada didn't help much her career, but maybe I can be wrong. All her success was in Europe, mainly, even after the nastiness of Sony Music against her.

Since you speak French maybe you can clarify something. She sings “avant ta peau “ and it makes no sense so I’m guessing it’s an expression. I speak some French but I’ve never heard that before. This is such a beautiful performance. One of my favorite artists. Adagio, Caruso, broken vow etc. All great songs
@Lut Desimpelaere I am french and never heard that expression but to me it means : before they had sex or physical contact. Translating songs is not an easy task and to me there are some errors in this one. As an example, at the beginning when she sing : Je n'ai même plus d'histoire that was translated for : "I don't even have a history anymore" I do believe that in that sentence "histoire" stand for "love affairs"... the song was written by a man in 1973 so quitting dreaming, smoking and having extramarital affairs because you felt in love with someone show right at the beginning of the song just how sick he was about this relation.
i think the lyrics in french, as you can understanding, are much stronger than the english transcription. for instance, when she says "je vais crever...", that's worst, darker, than just dying in english... otherwise we could say in french "je vais mourir...".
