Can't wait!!!! only takes 1000 years to grow.
Haha it does 🤣 Especially the one in the beginning of that video
@@JoshuasGarden your great great great great .....future grand children will love them. Be sure to name one Joshuas' tree.
😂
Haha Sebastian stole the show! Can’t wait to see this start to grow! When it’s the middle of winter it’s nice to see these videos and get inspired :)
Just wait until seed starting begins!
Nicely done Josh! Another great way you can germinate the seeds easily is by putting them in some moist paper towel, and then in a zip lock bag. Place them in the fridge for the stratification period (good work on doing that, that's the most important part in germinating them). After the 4ish weeks of stratification, you can leave them in the zip lock bag but place them somewhere warm (they don't need light to start with, just warm). Check up on your seeds every 1/2 days and make sure the paper towel is always moist (not dripping wet though!), and once the seeds start showing signs of growth (it'll look like a little white tail with giant sequoia) then you can plant under the soil in their own individual pot. This way, you avoid having to transplant them instead of putting them all together in one small pot. The seeds that won't germinate then just sit in the zip lock bag and you can discard them after 3/4 weeks if they don't germinate. Some seeds will begin the germination period in 1-3 days, others will take nearly 3 weeks so you can just be patient. You can of course, do it your way and plant the seeds in the substrate right away, it's just easier this way if you are dealing with large quantities of seeds and you avoid a couple of steps. Hope this tip helps and happy growing! Can't wait to see how your sequoia do :)
Thank you! If I get ahold of some other seeds I will certainly try that. The seeds I started in this video actually have started to pop up so I’m excited to see what happens!
I just buy live trees directly from them. I dont want to mess with seeds it takes too long, so they send you like a small seedling or cutting about 12 inches long including the root, and if you are planting them outside in the ground you really should grow them for 2 winter years, keep them inside the house if you have below freezing winters, grow them in a large container like at least 5 gallons large, so the roots will develop, get a grow light for the winter, water them like once a week and if you have a mist sprayer spray them everyday and maybe twice a day in cold winter months , so after the second winter plant them in the ground in Spring. did a big hole just put the tree in it keep the native soil you dug the hole with, because its gotta get used to that soil anyway if you wanna grow it there for years
Just got 1 seedling to pop yesterday, took about 10 days under LED light, after placing the seeds in refrigerator for 21 days.
Very interesting. Great Job as always.
From what I've seen if you chill the seeds in the refrigerator for a 2 week period they will germinate faster once you warm them and give them water. This mimics the coming of spring.
Absolute .
good luck with these might consider getting these when i get a greenhouse cant wait to see the process x
Even if you don’t have a greenhouse right now, but at least have a sunny window and a space to put it outside, it would be well worth it! These trees take time to grow so if you got started on it now it would take a few years before it has a large size to it!
@@JoshuasGarden think i now have watched 35 programmes on giant sequoias totally fascinated thank you for your advice will deffo be ordering :)
How exciting, good luck with those
Thanks!
Hi Joshua!! I have a sequoia, ordered from Spain (50 cm tall). Could you recomend me a specific guide, with orientations for the first years? The sequoia came in a little recipient, and eventually I will place it in the ground. Any help would be great. Thank you!
That’s well cool
Кот реально помогает.
How big are they now :-) i grow them too in Europe
Hey man I got a Sakura seed kit from them and it’s been a month after taking them out of the fridge.. still nothing idk is this normal?
Plz share updates on this
Any updates?
😻
I just got the Sugar Maple grow kit, i wonder if I can extend the stratification period or just go by 20-30 days? I’ll look into it and hope your trees are doing well
I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt to do that! And the trees haven’t grown much but still good!
@@JoshuasGarden haha that’s alright it is their first couple of years, given how long they can live I imagine their growth is a bit slow. I’ll keep you updated if I can 😎
Any update yet?
It is still big though
Whats the growing zones ?
From the research I’ve seen online, generally they can grow in zone six through eight, but I’m sure they would also do OK in zone nine
Thank you. Keep up the good content
Shouldn’t trees seed be buried in the soil
That is a coastal redwood not a giant sequoia
Update?
I will be potting them up soon!
