Hey Jill and Mike. You perfectly captured what it’s like to nonrev (travel standby). I worked for AA for 32 years and now I’m retired. There is nothing like the stress or excitement standing in an empty gate area wondering if you’ll get on the flight. You overhear the gate agents say there are still 7 empty seats. You get excited. And then moments later a family runs up to the gate. Then your excitement is deflated. And after a few minutes of pacing….it happens….and your names are called to get seats. That’s been my experience! It’s honestly like winning the lottery! True joy! And you get to “Live Happy”.
I agree. My mom worked for America West and that was the only way we were able to travel anywhere. Never made it out of the country, but got to see most of the US. One instance where it was not fun is when we were seated on the plane, first class no less, and then told we had to get off because of weight restrictions. My 8 year old heart was shattered.
@@jeanae16 I’ve been pulled from the plane twice in 35 years once seated. Which is a good track record. But I still pray for the door to be closed, and for the plane to push back to this day!

Passing lane for overtaking is right hand side. You are right to stay in the left hand lane unless you are overtaking or allowing someone from the left to merge in from the slip road. I guess its probably the same in the USA but we always get the people here who make their own highway code up as they go along though!!

We did a long trip to Scotlamd in 2019 (for an a-ha concert) and luckily thought about the difficulty with a manual transmission and switched our car to an automatic...so glad we did. We just kept thinking the driver sits to the center of the road just like here in USA and that helped. "Hiney to the liney!"

It's funny but a lot of central european countries actually drive on the right like ye do in America- Ireland, the UK, Malta and Cyprus are the only exceptions. So we often have the same trouble switching sides going elsewhere! 😂😂 hope ye enjoyed yere trip to Dublin- ye picked a good weekend to visit ☘

What’s great about flying back from Dublin to the US is US pre clearance so no international immigration queues when you land back in the US!
😂i always check all the rules for driving or have an update before I travel to the USA. But also driving on the left side would make me nervus. You both did a good job on that!!

Oh no...that's way too stressful. I have to reserve airplane seats. British Air, BTW is fantastic. If you're going to Britain, I recommend. Hope you two enjoyed Dublin!
You should see the planes at O hare there’s ones with 3 levels it’s crazy watching them take off !!
Yes the right lane also known as the inside lane is the overtaking lane or "fast lane", you've probably already left by the time this video went up but if not I'd highly recommend getting outside dublin, try get to the west of the country especially, it pure beauty.

Same as Australia we drive on the left on a freeway highway 110 kms which is about 68 mph in America same Mike did the lane hie was in u stay in that lane unless u are over taking another driver in Australia we have sign keep left unless over taking

I agree w Mike...shades up so u can look out window. I'm the guy that asks for a window seat not on the wing when making reservations...I understand u were flying on stand by & that wasn't possible.

My grandmother told my My great grand father he love to go Ireland and my great grandmother she was born there and only went back because he wanted to go he couldn’t understand why she didn’t love going back.
Those big double decker planes as you calls them are A380'S, there a few airlines that use that huge plane
For a 3 lane road or 4 lane road stay on far left to overtake slower cars move over 1 lane or 2 lanes but always return to left lane
Oh I don't know if I would be able to drive. It would be so frustrating, especially driving a stick. I know how to drive a stick but I'm right-handed and I think would be really strange trying to shift the gears with my left hand
In Europe, they use Celsius and we use Fahrenheit so you gotta do the math and convert Celsius to Fahrenheit❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

With the many flights when you call to make the reservations you can request dietary and those that have dietary needs of the certain foods they cant eat. Is to call the airline the easiest thing to do it kets them know you are requestiing cerain food .
Did Ryan go off to college?
Any foreign plane 98% of the time will be heading back home to its hub...so that BA plane would be going to Heathrow, Etihad for example would be Abu Dhabi, Emirates - Dubai, Air France - Paris...and so on. You would never have a BA plane going from a US airport or anywhere else for that matter heading to Frankfurt or somewhere other than its origin (London).
