Their voice is called Mongolian throat singing. There is similar throat singing in Asia but this is unique to Mongolians. The morin khuur (Mongolian: морин хуур; Chinese: 马头琴), also known as the horsehead fiddle, is a traditional Mongolian bowed stringed instrument. It is one of the most important musical instruments of the Mongol people, and is considered a symbol of the Mongolian nation. The Tovshuur, also known as Topshur or Tovshuur (Cyrillic: Товшуур; Mongolian Script:ᠲᠣᠪᠰᠢᠭᠤᠷ/Tobsigur) is a two or three-stringed lute played by the Western Mongolian (Oirats) tribes called the Altai Urianghais, the Altais, and the Tuvans. The topshur is closely tied to the folklore of Western Mongolian people and accompanied the performances of storytellers, singing, and dancing. According to descriptions given by Marco Polo, the Mongols also played the instruments before a battle. Tumur Khuur also known as the jaw harp, mouth harp, gewgaw, guimbard, khomus, trump, Ozark harp, Galician harp, or murchunga is a lamellophone instrument, consisting of a flexible metal or bamboo tongue or reed attached to a frame.
The guitar style instrument is called a tovshuur. Traditionally it only has 3 strings. Temka's tho has 4 and was specially designed for him and this band and sound. The genre is new and exclusive to Mongolia called Hunnu Rock. All their instruments were designed specifically for them. The horse head fiddles traditionally are only played in a seated position. They were redesigned for the band so they could be played standing up. It took them a bit to get used to playing that way. All 4 main members, Gala, Jaya, Enkush and Temka are classically trained musicians and all have masters degrees in the performing arts. They are an AMAZING bunch of guys!
From what I’ve read it’s true. It’s a 12th or 13th century Golden Horde War Chant that the HU put to music, to remind the Mongolian People and the World just why in the time of Chinggis Khaan (we know him as Ghengis Khaan) the words “Look, a man on a pony” brought terror in villages and cities throughout 3/4 of the continent of Asia.
Monglian metal, Mongolian throat singing, two stringed horse head fiddle, has a name I can't think of right now. Their first song Yuve Yuve Yu is also brilliant with a rather different message, about how Mongolians have forgotten their past glory under the great Chinggis Khan.
I was lucky enough to see them in a club for $20. Something that won't happen again :) And before that, we saw them at the Greek restaurant across the street, grabbing a bite before the show. Unbelievable and awesome
This is hands down the best reaction I've seen to this song so far and really respectful, you weren't calling them chinese or so, so that was really nice! :)
Thank you for giving these guys a listen..they're one of the best bands around right now...they are yet to make a bad song..they're taking the world by storm...they did another version of this song featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach that's pretty awesome you might want to check out
Very cool your reaction. The Hu came to bring a revolution in the world of music. They are true works of art, overflowing the whole Mongolian culture. So far I haven't found a single song from them that I don't like. Words of a super fan from Brazil !!!
Please, check their remix of this featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, and 'The Woman's Song' featuring Lzzy Hale of Haslestorm. And yes, it is the HU band. Sounds just like 'the who band'. 1206 - The Mongolians are coming. Noooo!! 2020 - The Mongolians are coming. Yay!!
This is a Mongolian war chant of the Golden Horde, the most badass light cavalry army the world has ever seen. Over the course one man's lifetime (their Great Khaan, Chinggis that they mentioned, or Genghis Khan, as he is known in the West) using shock and awe tactics they carved out the largest contiguous land empire in history, encompassing China and Asia from the Sea of Japan all the way to the Middle East and Eastern Europe. China didn't build a 1000 mile long wall for aesthetic reasons, it was to try and keep these guys out. The 10, 100, 1000, 10000 numbers refer to their unit sizes, like platoon, company, regiment, battalion, etc in today's army. The animals mentioned represent the empires around them, the tigers were China, elephants were India, and lions were from Persia.
They Bikers in the orange cuts are members of The Mongolian Choppers MC the oldest MC in Mongolia. Galaa and Enkuush are both members. This is meant to sound aggressive, it's a war chant. They've done two Metallica covers, Sad But True and Through The Never and were asked to do Through The Never for Metallica's Black List album. The two stringed horse head fiddle is called a Morin Khuur, Temka's "guitar" is called a tovshuur.
Love The Hu...guess it’s Mongolian folk metal if you want to pin it down...Check out the version with Jackoby Shaddix,The Great Chinggis Kahn, Yuve Yuve Yu and my favourite Sugaan Essana(from Star Wars Fallen Order game)
Love these dudes...sounds a hell of a lot like my Native American ancestors. Of course, we didn't have any "strings," but the drums and the "flow" are very similar. Lol, I've been waiting on someone to "sample " the sht out of this stuff.

Can you picture a packed stadium or auditorium and everyone chanting 'HU' right along with them in this song?
I was lucky enough to see them in a club for $20. Something that won't happen again :) And before that, we saw them at the Greek restaurant across the street, grabbing a bite before the show. Unbelievable and awesome
I saw them last spring...outstanding show! One of the best I've seen!
This is hands down the best reaction I've seen to this song so far and really respectful, you weren't calling them chinese or so, so that was really nice! :)

Tried it months ago. Didn’t like it. Also this is an old video recorded months ago. I’ve changed quite a few stuff up since this was recorded.
HU is Mongolian word for human.
I can’t say anything more positive than others have said. Thanks for this great reaction to a band that moves me.
Besides badass music...THESE Mongol bikers are definitely cooler than Mongols MC biker club...

Bozkurt rulez :) Cengiz Han...
This makes me want to rejoin the battle.
Genghis Khan is not a name. It's a title.
His name is Temuchin (or something more or less spelled that way.) ;-)
Folkmetal...
Throat singing… ancient war chant
Great video, but Im wondering if it was a reupload? cuz seems like I have already watched you reacting to this, perhaps on other channel of yours
You are correct. This is a re upload from my old channel. I’m doing away with it.
Please react “ the same” by the hu.
I would call this folk metal.
Check out Marco Polo on Netflix, I loved that show.
