Exactly the info I was looking for in regards to the factory reset part going from the Nest Wifi to Wifi Pro. Will be setting this all up soon. Thank you!
You're right about the improved capability of the google home app. I just finished the 3 pack install and I plan to connect a switch using cat5e. For now, things seem ok using the wifi 6E mesh. Thank you.
Really great video review. These routers are good when you have more than 2 gbps internet connection at home otherwise its like a shiny balls decorating your home passing lower wifi speeds😊
Basiclly just order a cable long enough (Cat 6 or Cat 7) and you can run it across your house. You should not need an electrician. I was able to run my cables under the house from my Office to my Living Room, you might have an crawlspace or attic you can run it though.
I have a 1GB internet from Charter. My speed test have been a big improvement over the regular Nest WiFi. I just finished the comparison video, it will be live tomorrow morning. 😁
Thanks for the unboxing.. Do you have two routers with a wired back haul and a single mesh node? I’m confused about the highly recommended comment.. Thanks in advance.
Yes, each device has 2 gigabit Ethernet ports. I just have 2 of them, with a wired backhaul. I only highly recommend because you get the full speed of your internet (or more of it atleast) with the wired backhaul vs the wireless Mesh backhaul.
Honestly not a single issue. It has worked since the first day I installed it. Speed has been great, never any lag or loading screens. I love it so far. I do know some people had issues with internet speed but I didn't have any of those issues.
Is the 6ghz band integrated with your 2.4ghz & 5ghz? Do you have any 6ghz devices to check the wifi 6e (later samsung phones have it and latest iPad Pro). Reason I ask is Deco axe5400 has its own separate 6ghz password and I wish it was integrated with the 2.4&5ghz mesh.
Yes, so basically the device will pick which ever band it needs. So a wifi6 or wifi6e device will use the 6Ghz band but if it's to far away it will use the 2.4Ghz band.
Will these allow setup of 2 networks, using 2 different SSIDs and 2 different passwords? Not talking about guest network. Just wanting to segment 2.4GHz off to itself. Thx...
No it is all 1 network. Basically your devices will only connect to the band they support. For example, a 2.4ghz device will only use 2.4. A wifi6 device will use wifi6 if it's in range, or switch to 2.4Ghz if it's not in range. I have about 75+ smart home devices that only work on 2.4Ghz wireless and I've never had an issue with a Nest WiFi system. (and so far, no issues with the Nest WiFi Pro system with those devices)
I got the 3 pack of google nest WiFi pro 6E today, I can’t formalize the mesh with the other two units. I’ve been trying to build my network again for the last few hours. The 2 points are stuck to unable to connect. I have reset the points and the reset network multiple times.
Interesting. Do you get that issue if you try to set them up really close to one another? Like in the same room. I'm wondering if they could be to far away. If that didn't work, I'd try to uninstall and reinstall the home app.
No, from what I've seen you cannot. Honestly though, you should not need to separate them. For example, a device that supports 5Ghz WiFi will connect to either the 5Ghz (if it's close enough since the range is not as far) or the 2.4Ghz. While a device that only supports 2.4Ghz will ONLY connect to the 2.4Ghz band since that's all it can connect to.
I have the old google wifi routers. Google fiber gave me two of them. I don’t use the mesh either. I hardwire them both. I have one inside my house and outside In the backyard. When I go outside I like how it switches to that outdoor router seamlessly without me having to “join” that router. I use to have a netgear router inside and the google wifi outside so I had to do that often when the signal faded from the netgear router. I take it with these pro routers I’m gonna have to do that again when I go outside? It said on the box it’s not compatible with older google wifi routers? Or are they just talking about the mesh capability? I plan on hardwiring the pro routers as well. My phone never detects a stronger signal to make the switch on its own I always have to join the stronger router with the better signal until I got the two google wifi routers going and got rid of the netgear router. Now it just picks up the stronger signal when I go outside. So it won’t be doing that if I get the pro models? Or should I just get the google wifi routers again? I can get three for $150. I wanted to put more routers around the house and outside. If I get the pro models I’m gonna have them inside the house for sure and the two older models outside.
So if you get the Nest WiFi Pros, they would work exactly like your Google WiFi routers where you phone would automatically switch to the closest access point with the fastest speed. They just won't work together. So you can't have Google WiFi and Nest WiFi Pro. You would have to remove the Google WiFi Routers (like I did in my video) and then setup the Nest WiFi Pro Routers. With the 3 pack being $399 or the 2 pack for $299, I'd say go with the 3 pack of Nest WiFi Pro Routers and you should not have to buy any other routers for 5 or more years. (That's my guess but WiFi 6E is only a year old if that)
speedtest only tests your isp speed. If you put the computer close to the wifi router about 1m you will see they will get the same speed and whats the point of upgrading🤣? The impovement you saw just the signal strength of the wifi. You need to test your wifi with a NAS with 1Gbps or higher. Or connect one of your computer on ethernet and set it up as a file server (smb).
Looking back I had wished I would of tested moving files across the network with the Nest WiFi and then with the Nest WiFi Pro. I have seen a big improvement. For example, My M2 Macbook Air was getting 400Mbps in the living room with the Nest WiFi and now it is almost 700Mbps in the same location with the Nest WiFi Pro.
@@BigCVlogs that is still less 1Gbps. I doubt that router can only go up to that speed. My wifi 6 access point can even go more than 1Gbps real throughput. The wifi 6e is much faster for sure.
I have a few cables ran to each room. 1 for the master bedroom TV, 1 for my daughters Xbox and then one for my Xbox, one for my ps4 and a few computers that's are desktops/servers.
Hi, the Connection Type says Mesh and not Wired after installation when I have plugged-in Ethernet cables in the LAN-ports. Do you know what the problem can be? I have tried to restart, and verified that Internet works from the Enternet Cables that I plugged-in to the Google Nest Pro devices. I have 3 Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro Devices. The setup is: Modem -> Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro (Router) -> Switch -> Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro (2 Point)
The only thing I can think of is making sure it's in the correct Ethernet port. The 2nd and 3rd AP should have the cable plugged into the "network" side. The one with the little arrows. Not the side with the globe.
@@tomthurston9069 they don't. They actually don't work with them at all. If you have the old Google WiFi or Nest WiFi, you have to remove them from your account before you can set them up. As far as resetting the non-pro nest wifi, do you have to hook up new (pro), detect it, hook up old (non-pro) then reset, then hook backup new (pro)?
No, the system reset them. I haven't plugged mine back in, but the app knew, deleted the Nest WiFi out and then let me setup the Nest WiFi Pros.
@@BigCVlogs Thanks. Another video I watched on this subject, they hooked them back up to reset before finishing the pro setup.
Is it possible to separet the 2,4ghz and the 5ghz band ?
I mean if u can choose to connect
A device just to 2,4ghz band or the 5ghz band.
Sadly no but your device will just connect to the band it supports. So it won't really matter in the end.
@@BigCVlogs ok thanks for the answer … have 2 roborock vacumcleaners and they only connect to 2,4ghz. I have to buy and try 😂👌
Yeah they should connect with no issues. My robovac is 2.4 only. Haven't seen an issue. The most you might need to do is reboot it to reconnect.
