This combined both of the old videos into better quality, as well as finally remembering to record Ingrid vs Felix and the generic Annette and Felix vs Anyone conversations, it only took me forever.
[Story Spoilers Below!]
It would seem there was some sort of route split within Azure Moon itself where Rodrigue's death would cause Annette and Felix to leave your party in some capacity, maybe there's more leftover from this that we haven't found.
These conversations are unique to Azure Moon, what you get in Crimson Flower is very different and nowhere near close to this.

Interesting that Felix seems so obsessed with getting revenge for his father’s death, when that’s exactly what he berated Dimitri for.
That's the interesting thing, if Felix joins you on Crimson Flower he mentions how he feels like he's become just like Dimitri and how he hates that. Cool bit of characterization

The split idea makes sense. The game has a (useless) option to go to the Kingdom or defeat Edelgard first. Annette wanted to go to the Kingdom first, but Dimitri went straight for Edelgard which kinda got Felix's dad killed. I can see why both of them would leave. Also, I'm pretty sure Annette isn't with Dimitri's army in the Golden Deers route during the second 3-way fight. I'm not sure about Felix though.
In GD, Felix battles in Gronder, but Annette stays with her uncle through all the route
There was a planned split of having Felix and Annette leave after Rodrigue dies. Felix for obivous reasons, and I guess Annette did it to protect her mother from her dialogue.
I can guess why it was cut, then. If the split really was just ‘choose to go to the Kingdom first or Empire’, then it’d end up being that you have a 50% of making a seriously bad choice and forcing you to kill/lose 2 of your original Blue Lions team. That kind of brutal error, with no clear upside, probably just didn’t work wel lwith the story.
@@PineappleLiar I think if you had choices that could actually affect your story in this way, the game would have been even better. Instead, your choices only affect affinity levels between characters. Probably the only meaningful choices are choosing one of the three houses and deciding whether to go with Edelgard to Enbarr or not.

Holy SHIT, the amount of venom in Felix's voice when he talks to Dimitri. Despite his apparent hatred towards his father, he really did care. Amazing voice work too, too bad it was unused.
I mean, Felix also just does not seem to like Dimitri much from the get go, he is always pretty hostile to him in their conversations.
@@shizachan8421 I think a BIG part of the reason is that Rodrigue thought Dimitri’s life was inherently more valuable than both Glenn’s and Felix’s. Both Fraldarius boys were raised to be meat shields for royalty. And I’m sure it is hurtful to know that your own dad thinks your life is expendable and raises you to think your purpose in life is to die for your friend and would even glorify your death. Even in their A support, Felix is pretty harsh, telling him he’s not special. Sounds like he had been bottling that up for years.
@@GG-zc7uu Yeah, but discussing that would just mean delving deep into why Azure Moon is probably the worst written route. Because yeah, Rodrigue is valueing Dimitris life more than both Glenns and felix' because the entire system is set up for Dimitri not being allowed to fail and being shielded from all consequences. Dimitris entire arc is a confirmation that Edelgard was right, but then he gets okay after Rodrigue sacrifices himself because of pre-marital handtouchies and Felix is just okay with his entire family wiped out for the sake of this guy he has intense feelings of lovehate for.
Azure Moons popularity and it being credited as some greatly written masterwork convinced me that you can basically just write one long edgy pity party for a cool and sexy looking bishonen, call it character driven and people will eat it uncritically. Like, a big portion of the first half of the game sets up how toxic the church, crests and faerghus chivalric culture are and its touched in favor of Dimitri inventing white moderate centrism.

@@BlackRose88-04 AG is kind of the route with the worst implications because we basically have Crimson Flower Dimitri with a Rhea who never undergoes any character development left in charge of all of Fodlan, with the Empire probably being soon to be fully wiped out and depopulated considering how Dimitri still has his boar side in this route which he never resolves and the only sane man left on the continent being Claude, who has not the manpower to stop them.
Interesting that Felix and Annie’s affiliation is also listed as “Old Faerghus Territories” instead of “Faerghus Dukedom” like the others
I really like the idea of Felix turning on Dimitri. The fact that he's driven by desire for revenge for the death of his father, mirroring Dimitri, is perfect. He's constantly second guessing Dimitri, it makes sense that there could have been a decision at some point where he gets sick of it and defects

@Koria Borein Dimitri is way stronger than felix lol, he has trouble controlling himself on a daily basis and restrains his strength when doing normal things but his super strength is insane
@Koria Borein his brute strength is still worse lol. i was talking about in storymode and plotwise, dimitri is pretty much meant to be superhuman and head-and-shoulders above the rest in terms of combat.
but game-wise, it is more equal between them but he's an absolute monster of a unit, and dimitri's speed isn't horrible. felix's defense isn't that great and he'd probably be able to take like 3 hits tops.

So, the conclusion is that these defections would be caused by two potential reasons: Choosing to continue to Enbarr leading Felix and Annette to leave in disgust, or failing to complete paralogues leading them to join Cornelia's Regime to either protect their family (Annette) or out of sheer grief (Felix). Personally, the paralogue theory sounds better, as failing those missions would lead to the Dominics being under threat of death for supporting the Royalists, or Felix refusing to accept Rodrigue's willingness to give his life for Dimitri.
I like that paralogue idea. Would've given much more depth to them than just getting fancy rewards. Like Dedue who dies during time skip if you don't defend the duscurians.
@@ufcoque8697 Imagine if Felix's dialogue changed based on completing his paralogue. If completed, he reminisces about the fight he had with Rodrigue after Glenn's death as he realizes what his father meant about "dying like a true knight", which provides Felix with a little more appreciation for chivalrous virtues and his legacy as a Fraldarius. However, if not all conditions were met, Felix refuses to accept the idea of dying for someone else and honoring the dead, pushing him to fight against Dimitri, who Felix sees as the embodiment of everything wrong with Faerghus' nobility, in an act that ironically mirrors the prince's own obsession with avenging the victims of Duscur.
My theory was having either of them "die" pre time skip on classic mode (however this was deconfirmed). Some units that die pre time skip are stated to be alive but dont make it to the reunion post time skip. They just stay in their kingdom
That makes sense, and possibly why it was cut. The devs might've thought it was too harsh having three units that could be unplayable if you didn't complete their paralogue (Though I don't know how harsh it is in full, since I don't know if any other units are unplayable if you don't complete their paralogue in GD/BE/Church)

Silver Snow doesn't do enough with it's concept to make fighting Edelgard and Hubert as heartbreaking as it should have been. Poor Hubert gets screwed over because he is barely ever mentioned.

I doubt the Ferdinand/Petra thing would have ever been planned. The "leavers" for that route are Edelgard/Hubert.
This does make me believe they had more route splits planned, though.

But Why Tho I think they mean they may leave on CF if their support level with Edelgard is not high enough. I mean, Edelgard put house arrest on Ferdinand’s dad and stripped them of their titles and power (rightfully so, to be honest). Ferdinand could have been pissed off with Edelgard if he hadn’t bonded with her and didn’t understand her motives. Petra might see this as an opportunity to change her country’s vassalage status. Geez, it makes more sense for Petra to leave the empire than fight for the empire even in real life.
Mercedes offering Annette sweets one last time before fighting shattered my heart. They were always my favourite characters and I loved their friendship so much. I'm glad the route never has to be that painful.
I was a tester on this game and the co-worker next to me had to do this fight over and over to make sure all the dialogue matched the text, which meant doing this fight over and over and killing Felix or Annette with every character. This game was brutal to test, but I love it and I'm proud of it!

I imagine they wanted to pull a Kaze on us, and that they wouldn't have left the group if they had a high support rank with some characters. Like, Annette with Gilbert or Felix with Dimitri.
Or maybe they wanted to pull a Dedue, and you have to complete their paralogues.

I hear people complain that Dimitri recovered too quickly after Rodrigue's death, so I think if he remained savage, he will not be able to convince Annette and Felix to return, and will be forced to cut them down.

Makes me wonder if there was (or going to be) a second route for the Blue Lions. Like, maybe if you didn’t Support high enough with Felix or Annette they won’t join you in the timeskip.
The original idea was that both of them would abandon your side abd fight alongisde Cornelia, thus forcing you to Kill them
My guess is that this had to do with their paralogues. Annette talks about staying with her uncle. In her paralogue, you fight her uncle to keep him away from Annette. As for Felix, this is a stretch, but maybe he becomes more attached to Rodrigue. After his paralogue, Felix feels scorn for his father for not caring about those alive. Had you not done that, he probably stayed in Fargeus to defend their territory.
Jay Vi There is also the theory about that point where you “decide” to either go for the Empire or the Kingdom before the battle of Gronder. Said theory states that if you choose Enbarr, these two leave, return to Farghus. Then either A. Things play out as normal except without Felix and Annette.
Or B: Something different happens to Dimitri where he probably never gets over his issues due to his line against Felix still sounding like his “feral” dialogue from before Gronder. So maybe there was an idea for Dimitri to have a much more Shakespearean end.
@@darklordxerinic Not sure about Dimitri line's tone as proof. Doing the Fhirdiad battle on my current run right now, and his opening lines in that battle still have that guttural tone despite his redemption.
Scientific Tails That’s true. Against Cornelia. But I find it a little suspect for him to just accept Felix’s challenge to the death so easily like that. I don’t want to spoil you. But his attitude towards another person near the end who he also hates suggests that if this was the same Dimitri, he would at least try to tell Felix it doesn’t have to come to a fight to the death. Yet here he just goes with it and lets Felix have his chance. Which I don’t see Dimitri doing at all after his redemption.

Though I do find the idea of these two leaving your army and having to fight them an interesting idea I feel it would but quite a major blow to loose 2 units 3/4 of the way through the game, especially if you never recruited anyone into your house (which is what I did on my 1st playthroughs of each route). Since the other characters you can loose like Edelgard, Hubert, Flayn and Dedue all leave at the end of part 1, so you can use the start of part 2 to decide who will replace them. Imagine playing Maddening and having a unit as good as Felix defect this far into the game :D.
About the Maddening thing...
Remember that's an update. Something that got added after the release.
So while it would be tedious, we need to remember this game was not designed with Maddening in mind
@@lorddragonskin3603 But it was known when the game released that they would add a harder difficulty. Anyway I wasn't trying to say Maddening mode was the reason for this being cut, loosing two units like this is gonna suck regardless of the difficulty mode (even more so this late into the game).

Petra: She could leave the Black Eagles, in an attempt to make Brigid independent country, rather than “A vassal state.”

Lysithea: Both her and Edelgard are similar in some ways. They both have 2 crests, they’re both sick of nobility, etc. (Also I’d love it if she’d appear in Enbarr.)
Lorenz Hellman Glouster: If you’ve gotten to the time skip, then this one speaks for itself. TL;DR (Church & Blue Lions: Forced to side with the Empire. Golden Deer: His father sides with the Empire, so later on he tries to persuade his father to help the Alliance. Black Eagles: You don’t get the chance to fight him because once again, sides with the Empire.)
Ashen Wolves
Constance: The easiest way to restore house Nuvelle, would be to side with the Empire.
Balthus: He’s close to Hilda, and Holst, and he probably doesn’t want to betray that bond, or end that friendship.
Hapi: *She literally screams “F u c k t h e c h u r c h !”*

Aside from Sylvain and Dimitri, Felix’s aegis shield was in full effect 😂😂
When you have a 40% chance to add damage to your weapon attacks, you trigger that shield a lot.
(The activation is based on his Crest, which is 40%, but it applies the effects of Aegis or Pavise, which are Dex% in nature)
Well, in Dimitri's case, you can't really defend yourself from the Crest of Blaiddyd because with that strength alone, that's a power creep Crest

You know how on part one students can't die? They just retreat. When I played silver snow I ran out of divine pulses and I just let Ferdinand, Petra and hubert "retreat". They never appeared on cutscenes or anything again.
Once I got to part two, Edelgard said something interesting, among the lines of:
"Before you answer, know that some of our classmates have decided to side with the empire". I checked and she doesn't say that on normal circunstances.
But even if she said that, Ferdinand and Petra never showed up. I think the idea was to make the students you didn't save on the first part betray you, but it was left unused for some reason or another.
Annie...
considering the "Old Faerghus Territories" affiliation they have, it looks like they don't agree with the Faerghus Dukedom but fight anyway for their own reasons, as revealed by their dialogue. Annette fights so the Dukedom doesn't invade the Dominic territory and attack her uncle and mother. Felix fights for revenge against his father, whom he believes was slain because of Dimitri the same way Glenn was slain because of Lambert. seems like a scrapped possibility of them being recruitable once more in Blue Lions (which might explain why they have to not be in your house), or some kind of betrayal for personal reasons. i've read the other comments with interview sources, but i like to think that maybe if you don't have a strong enough support with specific characters, they don't stay because their personal goals are stronger than their faith in Byleth. like the comment about being betrayed to join another house, maybe if you just don't have a strong enough support, they don't stay the same way some characters can't be recruited if you didn't do so in the Academy Phase.
If these were actually in the game, i don’t know if i could have recovered emotionally
I was thinking about this today after watching Nico B's playthrough. So earlier in the path there are 2 choices that say "Head to Fhirdiad the Kingdom Capital" and "Head to Enbarr, the Imperial Capital". Maybe that is where the path split would happen. Like I could imagine a path where Felix gets pissed for our recklessness and Annette leaves us if we didn’t do her and Gilbert’s paralogue. After gronder, Rodrigue would die, but the difference could be the framing of events. We would miss the rain scene basically the scene where we not only reach out our warm hands, but actually stop Dimitri from almost relapsing and heading straight to Enbarr in the middle of the night. That is when we would truly lose Annette and Felix to the Faerghus Dukedom. We would give haste to chasing Dimitri to the Imperial Capital but lose Annette and Felix as a result. The next chapter would start, but it be similar to the Sothis paralogue where Byleth is separated from everybody. This time Dimitri would be far away in the map while Byleth and co need to converge with him, We would then do our Enbarr stuff, Claude would die... since we never take back Fhirdiad and Arundel would be alive, Dimitri would kill Edelgard but of course still be sad about doing so, BUT it wouldn’t end the war. Considering we’d have Arundel and Cornelia still in power in Kingdom and Alliance territory, I could imagine them being the final 2 chapters. Difference is that Cornelia chapter would have enemy Felix and Annette.
But I suppose maybe the writers thought Dimitri just went through a lot, so they cut that idea and only left some of the unused dialogue in-game. That one, I feel like they did not run out of time. They just scrapped the idea entirely as their own choice. The game already has enough tragedy as is.

I actually disagree. Even though he doesn’t show it, Felix probably cares about Dimitri more than any of the Blue Lions sans Dedue. I think it’s extremely out of character for him to ever side with the empire, same with Ingrid and maybe Sylvain
@@jeremytewari3346 Finally someone that thinks like me ! Haha I totally agree with you. I think that Felix is actually mourning his best friend from before the rebellion massacre and still has deep hopes for him to become the good and just king he was going to be, as he was someone Felix looked up to when they were younger. To me, Felix is one of the most loyal persons in Blue Lions, it really doesn't suit him nor Sylvain nor Ingrid to just leave Dimitri down and turn to a foreign leader. And of all of them, Felix is obviously the most affected by feral Dimitri post timeskip, because even though Dedue would execute anything Dimitri undertakes without questioning it in his will to repay for his life, Felix actually cares about his friend making the right choice.

Felix have a a major hypocrite here. “My blade thirsts for his blood.” Now he became the monster he criticised all those years.
I always felt like familial battles such as Gilbert vs Annette should go differently whereby the parent refuses to fight their child or vice versa. I can’t see Gilbert killing his daughter under any circumstances or Rodrigue killing Felix just because of his disloyalty to the kingdom. I just don’t buy it and it makes those fights seem more “gamey” like they have to fight because you made them fight.
They could have made it like Lloyd and Nino from Blazing Blade where Lloyd only attacks Nino when she decides to attack first.
Zant Naruto ultimate ninja storm 3 did it to where when Ino shikamaru and choji fight asuma, if you send choji to make an assist strike he refuses because he won’t hurt his sensei. It just reminded me of it and how memorable, while being a small feature, something like that can be
Zant I doubt it. Gilbert has a loyality to his majesty, and I don’t think even his own daughter could get in the way of that. He’s seen one king die, I doubt he wants to live to see another. Same thing applies to rodrigue but even more hardcore due to his promise to his former majesty.
Happened in Radiant Dawn. You can cheese the hardest boss in the game if you throw his son at him, because he won't attack his son. The kid is weak, yeah, but at least it makes the boss a bit less tedious.
@@ufcoque8697 Radiant Dawn was always my favorite for the little details like that. Dheginsea is by no means an easy fight even if you do bring Kurth with you, so you retain the emotion whilst not absolutely ruining the fight. I've also really missed the battle interactions in Three Houses. As far as I can remember, the only time you can "Talk" to another unit on the battlefield is during the tutorial where it shows you how to do it (with Edelgard, Dmitri and Claude).
I feel like this should have happened if Felix and or Annette fell in classic mode during pre-timeskip or not having their supports up a certain level.
Honestly, I think they wasted a perfectly good plot here when they decided to not include this in the final game. Instead of making Silver Snow, why not make a route split in Azure Moon with one end going for a Sane!Dimitri ending and the other going for a Punished!Dimitri ending where Felix (who has especially has every reason to do so) and Annette (likewise) oppose him?
Also, I really appreciate the perfomance of Lucien Dogde as Felix in these dialogues. His delivery is so perfect regarding the situation.
Wouldn't really work because they made Silver Snow before even starting with the rest.(I also just don't believe the official claim that everything was planned from the start. They said the same for FE7's mismatched structure and it's obviously just for good PR) However, you are very much right that a really good what if was left in the dust here, just like all the other opportunities not taken due to the game being rushed.
That's actually really interesting, it means that at one point your choices could lead to your characters leaving you and becoming your enemies instead. The situation with Felix actually makes a lot of sense, he had been wary of Dimitry for years at this point, and his father died because of Dimitry. It would have made a lot of sense if he left, and gameplay-wise it could depend on the level of support between him and other characters.

On top of that, if you are playing SS or GD, after Dimitri dies, Felix says "Could I have saved him?"

After his brothers death his father said shit that hurt him and stuck with him forever, but even with his disdain that doesnt mean Felix hates Rodrigue. After all Rodrigue is really the only kin he has left at that point with his uncle being slain. It makes sense he'd want to get vengeance, especially if he sees someone who he used to be best friends with so utterly beyond saving. It isn't just about Rodrigue, its also about Dimitri and who he used to be

I feel like it would be cool if students leave your side if you did not have a high support with them or they were under leveled. Cause a lot of characters have reason to support or go against the empire beyond just where they live.
I wish they kept this idea of you students possibly betraying you post time skip it could have been so heartbreaking to see your formal students that you built such a close bond to on the enemy team and being unsure if you could get them back

i have a theory of what it was all meant to be but it might be a stretch
so my theory is that BL route was going to have some sort of Dimitri meter where certain things you say could affect Dimitri’s actions and the chances of him regaining his sanity, and if you failed to fill said meter then Dimitri just wouldn’t come to his senses and as such the you’d get punished for it, so like notice how Dimitri still sounds like his baggy eyed self when he’s fighting Felix, maybe the events of Rodrigue dying didn’t change Dimitri, causing Felix and Annette to leave the player army and a punishment to you the player for not being nice to Dimitri, this probably sounded way too harsh tho so it got scrapped, sounds a bit complicated and like a stretch but it’s something

Its a shame they had to cut so much stuff. All paths were originally going to have betrayals except Crimson Flower. According to the files Dimtri would murder Rodrigue in front of everyone in a fit of rage. Hence Felix's dialogue in this. Felix is trying to avenge his father. Cornelia was also going to be Annette's mother originally hence why she sides with her.(Although her mother probably has been replaced by a fake and Gilbert knew it.) Something similar was going to happen in Verdant Wind it would result in Claude sacrificing Lorenz entire family in one of his schemes to deal a major blow to the empire. He also did something to Ignatz merchant family as well which had Ignatz join the empire. This resulted in Lorenz and Ignatz joining the empire. Caspar and Linhardt were going to betray Byleth in Silver Snow because of their father's being righthand men of Edelgard. Crimson Flower had at least 3 missions related to fighting those who slither in the dark but theres barely any files leftover however. Interestingly enough there are files implied if you were the professor of the Black Eagles that the flame emperor would show up in the cutscene if your Edelgard support was high enough where they would stop Kronya before they could kill Jeralt resulting in him surviving in both Crimson Flower and Silver Snow paths. Hilda was originally recruitable in Crimson Flower and cut extremely late in development they even wrote all her paired ending slides for Crimson Flower in English and Japanese. Likely only cut because of Edelgard's paralogue.

I think this is really interesting, and wish it was in the main game. At the same time, I imagine they got rid of this partially because of fact that you can lose Dedue. If you could lose these two for similar reasons, Dimitri's army would be tiny without recruits.
My guess would be: they imagined these two to leave the player's side if their support with Byleth and or Dimitri/Gilbert wasn't high enough
Maybe like what seemed to have gone unused in Silver Snow, they would have shown up if they “die” pretimeskip
Or this was meant to be a chapter in other routes or they were gonna defect if certain conditions weren’t met.
The lines seem very vague, so maybe they were only particularly made but still needed voice clips to fill that space.

I feel like this is the result of an unused loyalty mechanic, where if you didn’t reassure Felix’s friendships with his childhood friends or as a Professor didn’t pay him enough attention, Felix defects, and if Annette’s Paralogue isn’t done by a certain date, her uncle forces her to come home and she defects.
Any idea if this dialogue is still in the game files as of the most recent patch with the Wave 4 DLC?
Faintly recall how there would have been a rift in the Blue Lions, causing an alternative path very late game. Not sure whether whether that would have added to the game or not.
I would like add this chapter for Silver Snow.
So I did black eagles first and when I did Blue Lions second, I fell for the bait that each lord was the Flame Emperor since Dimitri wasnt there for flayns rescue or when talking to him after remire. I instantly went insane at the thought of 6 possible paths in this game, but sadly as we know that didnt happen lol.
Imagine how cool would be actually different routes instead of Part 1 basically the same, and then one base route, plus two that are "complete" because the reused gameplay from the base one, and one "incomplete" because couldn't reuse the base route.
And the 2D background from events/support where the worst.

This is super cool, and I don't get why it was cut. It would have been super simple to just have them appear here if they were defeated pre-timeskip in Classic mode
Watching this I feel like the lines for everyone (except for felix and dimitri's) is if you recruit the attacker in crimson flower. It would make the most sense but just because of the one line between Felix and Dimitri, I'm probably wrong.
This is neat and I wish it was in the game to some degree. I feel like it wouldn't work for Felix since it goes against his character, but Annette would make sense given her shared paralogue with Gilbert. I wonder why something with this much work was cut from the game.
I have it reversed actually. Felix hates Dimitri and only works with him because his friends and family think he can be saved. The death of Rodrigue would be the perfect tipping point for him to turn against him.
As for Annette I originally disagreed, but then I remembered the paralogue. If Annette chose her uncle over her father then I could see it turning out this way.
I guess like Deddue , they were supposed to die if you don't do their personal quest.

Didn't they plan to have the Blue Lions route branch? Maybe depending on the route you take some of your members leave and you'll have to fight them.
I sort of believe they had desired some means of alternative pathing for the other routes that only Crimson Flower / Silver Snow achieved. The idea of losing units to a choice is terrible, but would've made the game extremely interesting. Adding even more depth to your units that may, or may not leave based on your decisions.
In my BE route I made Felix and Annette kill their fathers... I think that the worst thing in this is that I found it quite interesting..
3 years old but when i first played Crimson Flower i had Felix killed his father, but i did not find it sad or anything since it's just a game to me, oh i also had Felix killed Dimitri on my first run just because i wanted to
I’m pretty sure this has something to do with characters dying in battle (possibly only in easy mode.) I remember playing the church route on easy/classic and while power leveling my characters I’m pretty sure Lorenz and Ashe died while I was leveling them. I didn’t notice until I had already saved and thought they were just gone for good, but they came back later as enemies in one of the later chapters (don’t remember which, it was on fire and post time skip, around 16 or 17 I think.) I was able to spare both of them and got them back. Maybe this has something to do with that or if it’s not possible to do the same maybe it was just removed content.
Could have happened if they were lost pre-timeskip.
