So glad to see you back and feeling better, Ashantin! Recommend tea with organic honey or manuka honey for your throat. Excited about the clues you have uncovered so far, and predict that my collector obsession will be activated with the new storage vessels…planning on having the prettiest kitchen in Vintage Story. 😉
`It's always fun to see all the new stuff that is on the horizon, and I love your enthusiasm, Ashantin! `Northern Pudu deer are the smallest deer in the world at 13 inch/33 cm tall and 10lbs/4.5kg weight. A cat sized deer! No wonder they're so skittish! They're from the Andes mountain range along the top of South America as it curves to the left. There is a Southern Pudu deer that is slightly larger that follows the mountain range further along down the body of the mountains as they form the spine of South America if you visualize it as a pregnant seahorse with his head tucked in. `Love the new vessels, but I scratch my head at the "rattlesnake". Living in the Southwest of the USA, when I think of ANY snake, I might think of a coil like on the vessel, but a "Rattler" has that distinctive tip of their tail that is like a side view of that child's toy of rainbow donuts on a stick that gets smaller towards the top/tip, the "Donut Stack". It's fascinating how they get their rattle, too! IMO, the Cave Aurora (or to a lesser degree, Waves) made me think of a snake. I think it should be renamed to just "snake" or "coil" because it could also be a coil of rope, clay, or the beginning coil for a skep! `"Are you going to Scarborough Fair? Parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme; Remember me to one who lives there..." I love how the visual item for the herbs look so similar to those from the Wildcraft: Herbs and Spices mod. I wonder if they were made by the same person, or if it's just a matter of two people looking at similar visual references. `Don't forget that beyond the Herbalist and Surgeon, they had the Blacksmith listed on a villager action GUI in the 1.20-pre.1 pictures/notes about halfway down the page! `I've put in a comment to Gerste who does the Villager mods, but haven't heard from her/him in a long time. Last update on the villagers was in July 2024. His mod is not working in 1.20 at all, it seems. Not sure what the issue is (time/money), or if Gerste is working with Anego Studios (Tyron, Saraty, et. al.). His mod has Soldier/Archer, Herbalist (the healer), Smith, Trader (for villager items only), Farmer, Shepherd, and Mayor. One mod was just the villagers, another mod spawned small/medium/large villages into the world, and the Quest mod gave you some basic ability to talk to the villagers and a few quests per villager. Gerste gave the info on how to create your own villages, so there are a few other village mods you can add that spawn their stylized villages, too. But no matter whose village mod you add, they all need some work to make them "safe". So you can "adopt" one of the existing villages and fix them up or you can create the item to create your own village. You have to build everything from scratch in this case, which might be great for builders, not so much for explorers or fighters. The GUI I saw reminded me of some of the mods in TOBG that added villager characters (VCs) who looked more like Players instead of the big-nosed villagers/illagers. I remember one mod that was extremely detailed that could have used a similar GUI to move VCs in a preprogrammed set of actions. Guards would walk a set route, a blacksmith hammering on an anvil, or a farmer walking about a crop field with a hoe in hand. It wasn't one of the various Village improvement mods, and it wasn't Millenaire, Minecolonies, Minecraft Comes Alive, or Tektopia. More like the old Ancient Warfare (2) where you used a command stick or item.
@@Sarafimm2 So much information. Thank you so much. We don’t have rattlesnakes in the UK . We only have two snakes, a harmless grass snake and adders . Adders cannot kill an adult but could possibly kill a small child. I thought of the song Scarborough Fair! Great minds think alike! Thank you for the heads up on a blacksmith. I suspect the devs are working on a village.
I agree with you on the table shape. However, I'm pretty sure it's going to be a quick fix in the JSON files, unless there's been some massive tweaks to the code. For me, since I already have a private "tweaks" content mod, I'll probably just tack it on to that; copy and rename a 1.19 shape file before I update the game, then patch the blocktype with a new path to the renamed shape file. Theoretically, though, if the names are the same, you might be able to just replace the 1.20 shape file with a copy of the old 1.19 one - make sure you keep a copy of 1.19 handy somewhere separate, because you'll have to replace it every time the game updates. I suppose either method might louse up the textures (I don't think it will - the texture path is usually part of the shape file rather than the blocktype file - but I could be wrong) but that's not a hard fix either. Regarding herbalists and surgeons - I'm going to guess that you haven't done much exploring of the new structures and areas yet? I haven't actually gotten to them either, but I remember seeing some stuff about there being new areas, and one or two suggestions about what those areas might be. Don't want to go too in-depth in case you don't want spoilers, and I could definitely be wrong, but my educated guess is that I don't think this is another bellpeppers or butterchurn - I think most of the new stuff that's hinted at in the handbook is actually in the game...somewhere!
I'm rather annoyed that the table legs have been changed to be slanted. They were vertical and straight previously. I find that now, tables look like weirdly enlarged stools or chairs. Lovely video as always:))
Oh! Those new storage vessels are very pretty indeed. I like them. I recently noticed in my 1.20.0-rc5 world that I had Dark Pine Seed in the handbook, but there was no actual wood or tree to go with it. Does it drop from normal pine trees, or do you think there will be a new tree type to go with it? I tried to plant it in creative but it wasn't possible. I haven't yet checked out the rc-6, rc-7, or rc-8 what's going there, other than read the change logs.
Mob spawns reduced during storms? Christmas came a little late but I'm not gonna complain at all. The vessels also look nice, I'm at 5:03 and hopefully there's a way to craft them later in the vid so it's not just a scavenger hunt for themed inventory spaces.
Purple purple purple! I hope those new purpley storage vessels mean they'll add some nice bluey-purple blocks!
